Default Health/Fitness/Running adapting it for children(6th-8th grade)

Hey everyone, I usually do not post in this section. I have been working with high school and middle school athletes for the past year at a facility in CT( Better Athletic Development). Recently, though I have been put in charge of a Health/fitness and running club at a local boys and girls club.

I was just wondering if anyone had examples of how to make this club both fun and informative?? I was thinking of having the children do relay races, to make running fun, instead of doing a more mature from of running training such as intervals etc. I really just want the kids to have fun as well as being active and instilling a solid nutrition base.

Any help would be great!
