Finding Zen in mind, body, school and soul, Sensei D style
So i have been creeping on the training logs for a while and i thought i would buck up and finally make one
A little background
i have been sort of seriously lifting on and off for a few years, my freshman year of college I completed most of the New Rules programs and put on a little bit of lean body mass. However I decided that I wanted to swim for my college and then focused on swimming. I walked on to the team and the coach put us on a bogus lifting/circuit/running program all while over training in the pool. My body ended up breaking down and I found out my C4 and C5 vertebrae were out of place. when i started swimming at school i was 200lbs and by November I was 180 and I was still eating as much as I possibly could in a day. So all of my muscle mass that I built up was pretty much gone, and was replaced with a pretty good sized anterior pelvic tilt. due to my neck hurting me all of the time I had to stop swimming and eventually quit. I got back into lifting and have done the Core Performance workout, and have completed the Huge in a Hurry Get Ready, Get Big and Get Even Bigger.
my current weight is around 207 but I'm a little pudgier then I want to be. I am on my week of from the Get even Bigger workout and that workout kicked my ass to say the least so im going to take advantage of it.
Some of my goals that I would love to achieve in the sort of near future
1. Deadlift over 300lb with good form, last workout I did was 175 20 times(not all in a set it was over 5 sets)
2. be a solid 215 to 220 with being pleased with how i look in the mirror
3. perform the local triathlon next year, .75 mile swim 14 mile bike, 5 mile run
one thing i need to work on immediately, but find hard to find the time some days because of school and work, are my body imbalances, my left shoulder is all sorts of screwed up and my hips need to be more flexible and I need to work on my wrist extensors to be able to front squat with my up and out in front of me.
I'm looking into doing some light running and swimming by the end of this week to see how it feels, since I haven't worked my aerobic endurance in a while. I will most likely start the Get Strong program from Huge in a Hurry next.
I am trying to stretch my hip flexors as much as possible, i do lunges, knee hugs and that kind of stuff, its getting better, but i still have some back pain
sounds to me like you're trying to accomplish a lot of different things at once. for example, the goal of putting on hard weight is at cross purposes with training for a triathlon, which rewards light weight. you can do both, especially since the triathlon is pretty short, but it will be very tough to do both well.
i'm kind of an all around fitness guy and still find i get better results by making one goal at a time my focus, and using un-structured, and unplanned cross-training two or three times per weeks to give me physical and mental days off.
How are you enjoying Huge in a Hurry? I've started it myself and am trying integrate a bit of running and KB on 'off days'

lol, no I stopped for a second and the girl ran to get the dog before it got too far away
I really like how Huge in a Hurry works, i like the workouts alot too, I have had to make some little changes to the workouts but i do like them, its good to see that you are doing the workouts too, kingkop, let me know how they treat you.
So as I am typing this there is at least one bat, that is in the walls of my house at school making noise and fluttering around, they are getting in through a vent that they can fit through, I'm pretty sure they can't get into the house from there, but if anyone has an idea to get rid of them it would be much appreciated.

Maybe that was her strategy. Get her number?

Yes. Stuff some owls into the vents to get the bats.

I did not get her number, but lets just say im not too disappointed i didnt. I have some animal repellent, you are supposed to spray that when they are out feeding, so in the next few nights ill spray that on where i think the bats are getting in and see how that goes
followed up by some static stretching and of course i did a warm up before. The workout felt pretty good i weighed in at 207. I was a little sore to start the workout because i had an intramural soccer game yesterday, i didn't play to much, but it was a small amount of running for a Sunday

I wasn't sure where you were going with this - good thing you picked up with the bats-as-pests theme.

If you know where they are getting in (or suspect) - why not block it off so that they cannot?

it is a vent for the attic space in the wall, we need to get another cover, to make sure they can't get in
1.2 mile run of intervals
4 mile bike ride
i had to register for classes today, i really hate how the classes I need to take are at the same times, or they are full before i can even register. Its a real big pain. I did however get into Human Anatomy with cadaver lab which I am very excited to take. Now if I could just figure out my physics homework today will be a decent overall day
It was a beautiful day today and I believe this is the first Thursday in a while that it hasn't rained. So I took advantage to my beautiful day and had myself a 3 mile run, it felt better than any run I have done recently.
very tired and sore today, i didnt have time to do any other work besides warm up and cool down because I have a test that I need to cram for this afternoon
i felt like crap on the workout, just felt weak and tired after my good weekend at home. I need to find that "spark" this week because I have a tough week ahead because of classes
it has been one hell of a day, i have been going since 7 this morning with no real break except to eat. my stress levels are getting really high but i still need to study a lot more for my physics test tomorrow, i have to do well on it. gotta love school......
1.5 mile recovery run, nothing too strenuous. I have been really tired and sore this week, but i think i dont have much due before thanksgiving which is good, but of course the 3 weeks before finals will be hell but that is standard
the chinups felt great today, i was really surprised. the deadlifts however did not. it felt as though i couldn't get into my rhythm and my form felt worse than usual. I usually bang up my shins a little bit but today I scraped off a lot of skin with the bar. I'm ready for this week to be over, even if its only monday, so I can enjoy my thanksgiving break

Not long to go mate, hang in there

Thanks Niel, what makes this week hard is that i dont have really anything due until i get back from break, so i would be useful for me to get on top of my homework and research but i just dont have the motivation.
