Like many of you, I am starting this log for accountability. I am a personal trainer and yammer on about it enough but don't seem to be living the lesson myself all too successfully. I have just completed my Masters (in a completely different field...Fine Arts) and am starting my PhD so am a wee bit scattered. As such, I am keeping my objectives relatively simple:

Lose 15-20 lbs fat.
Complete: 3-5 unassisted chin ups.
Time frame: End of 2009.

I know dropping the weight won't be a problem IF I can cut waaaaay back on the booze, which makes for late nights, erratic sleeping (and I don't sleep well even without it), empty calories, poor food choices the day after, amongst a gamut of other health destroying side-effects. This will be my major obstacle. There always seems to be some art opening, book launch, gala, ceremony to go to and alcohol abounds. However, I undersand this is an explaination. Not an excuse. Hell, it isn't even much of an explaination. In any event, otherwise my diet is super clean. I run around 40kms a week, bike about the same, swim 60 laps, resistance train 3 times.

So here I go. Day one.
Pounds lost: Predicatbly none.
Hours slept: 5
Cardio: 20km run
Resistance: Core routine
Wish me luck! Much peace!

Not off to a particularly promising start. Poker night last night and I think I managed to drink a small ocean. As some sort of cruel irony, I am feeling just fine today and am lucidly contemplating my set back. Have just decided contemplation won't get me anywhere and I should get my arse out shortly for a 15km run.
Will be staying in tonight in an attempt to stay away from temptation. My reward is a book of Edward Gorey's work, which still costs less than what I would have consumed in vodka and it is far more mentally stimulating.
Other than the booze, my diet has been so-so. I tend not to eat if I drink, so I am aware I am lacking some serious nutrients. Will fix that.
Exercise has not slacked, thank God.

Thinking good thoughts, like how I kicked my ex-boyfriend's ass in the game last night. Small victories, small victories.
I take what I can get.

And I'm off!

I saw that new Gorey book. Love him.

Welcome.
