It's only in my 'bro' gym where I go on Sunday that the plates are 'carved' . All other gyms I've ever been to, have had disks which are plastic covered , frequently open (so they 'leak the power' ) and mostly exactly equal at both sides.
The 'bro' gym has realllly old stuff.. some of their disks have been in use for over 25 years if not longer. I've been told by the person who helped construct it, that the leg press has been going strong for over 25 yrs as well. He's roughly my age and started lifting around age 15.. just like Lyle actually.

Oy. Talk about bad timing on your DH's part to feel the need to assert his manhood. That would really make me PO'd. Or depressed and weepy at my weakness depending on how my hormones were screwing with my emotions at the time.

Heh! No kidding! Actually, I think he does this every time, only it doesn't usually bother me. I'm usually just in it to do my best and burn some calories, but it was making me sad and, to be honest, rather bitchy. Oh well. We've been married almost 12 years, so I'm sure he understands the consequences. LOL.

I got in a workout today. My trainer did my body assesment thing again to see if I'd improved in anything. Everything was pretty much the same as a month ago, which was not too surprising. My weight was up 1 lb. It's been fluctuating a lot lately and AF is here, so I'm not too worried about that. It's actually been bouncing between 146 and 150, so 145 on their scale was nice to see, even if it was up from a month ago. According to their caliper things my body fat has decreased a bit. I won't put too much stock in that, but it was better than seeing the number go up. My VO2 estimate had also increased a bit.

Anyway, here's my workout. I went up in weights on just about everything. I added one riser to the step up bench. Hmm, I didn't know what to do with the push ups. I guess I could have added another set. I'll have to read in the book what to do with those since this is where I'm supposed to make them harder, but go down in reps.

Improvement is always nice! And if it is the same trainer doing it, it gives you a way to gauge your progress. Nicely done.

Am I missing something or is your Etsy shop empty?

Yep, it's empty. You can look at the stuff I've sold if you are interested in seeing the kinds of things I make. There's a link to sold stuff on the etsy page, or just go here http://www.etsy.com/shop_sold.php?user_id=5454069

I just noticed a few people have etsy shops, so I thought I'd post mine. I might be adding a few things that I have waiting to be listed soon. Our guest bedroom where I have my photography equipment set up is dismantled right now for painting, so I can't photograph the few things I have ready to sell.

Tom- I can pretty much do anything as long as it's not gigantic (like over a foot tall).

I need to go to the gym today. I don't wanna.

I didn't make it to the gym tonight. Hopefully tomorrow, because tomorrow there is also birthday cake. Oh noes!

Thanks Espi. The photographs were a challenge for me, with the glare and trying to get the colors represented accurately. I ended up getting a small light tent that made a big difference.

I still haven't made it to the gym. When is the last time I worked out? 8/11! Man, I'm being a slacker, although I did take my daughter on a long walk the other night, but she's 6 and can't walk very fast, so we didn't go that far.

Good news though... I was down 2.8 lbs this week at my weigh in, to make the first official WI under 145 (just barely at 144.8).

DH and I are considering taking the kids to the gym child care and working out together today. We've never worked out together before.

Congrats on the weigh-in!

I could never work out with my husband. He works out wrong...lol. He only uses machines and loves the smith machine. If he squats he barely goes down. He loves to read Oxygen magazine (only for the articles of course) but doesn't follow any sort of routine (not that I do either.) He had to lay off for a bit as he took a tumble off his bike and got pretty badly hurt, but the rest period has allowed his sore elbow to heal.

Whatever, he's a grown man and can do what he wants.

I always took my kids to the gym when they were little. Though my oldest did contract measles (the real ones) as she was under 15 months and hadn't had the shot for it yet.

My DH's workouts are scary sometimes, but I had him do a session with Jason (my sadistic trainer) and it really helped in correcting his form (and pointing out weaknesses like his posterior chain that he didn't want to hear from me)...

You're a better woman than I am, if you can bite your tongue when he 1/4 squats on the smith!!!!

Oh yeah. I take them all the time. That's the main reason we joined this fabulous new gym. 2 hrs free childcare a day. The bonus is that the kids LOVE it and ask to go. Did I mention that already. I may have.

We didn't make it yesterday, but we did do racquetball Sunday today. It felt so good. I was on it today. Dh was still slamming the serves at me today, but it's amazing what a difference not being hormonal makes.

I need to go and read some other logs. I have been neglectful, but we are busy with birthday stuff and putting back together the guest bedroom and playing with our new Wii. So, sorry if I am being taboo by just posting on my own log. I will be better next week. I'm anxious to catch up with what everyone is doing.

I made it to the gym today, yay. I forgot my notebook so I just decided to do some machines for a brainless workout. I think I got a really good workout though. I did ~25 mins on the treadmill, and ~22 minutes of lifting. Can't remember what all I did, but I did throw in some knee raises and got 3 sets of 12 in with some of those being the L type raises rather than the bent knee ones. So, calorie burn was 206 on the elliptical, and 146 for the weights.

I do remember that I increased my lat pulldowns to 70 lbs, which was an improvement, and chest presses at 50 lbs. The first time I ever did the chest press machine I was struggling with the lowest plate (10 lbs).

Very appropriate change: a fluffy gecko (or gekko)
Now I'm just tapping fingers until Aoife comes with an appropriate joke

I think I'm about to drag the kids to Target to buy EA Sports Active. I've heard this game is more fun than Wii Fit. I'm so confused by all this Wii stuff.

Anyone have any recommendations for fun Wii games? I'm also thinking about getting a dance game, but I don't know whether I should get DDR, DDRHDP2, Disney DDR (for the kids) or DDR X whatever.
