Man your swim routines make mine look sad! Oh well, something to reach for!
Just thought I would pop by and say hello! Congrats on the goal pants. Great feeling.

Great job!! I'm still plugging away, with success, too. I've got until November 24 to meet my goals, so still a ways to go! But, I can't WAIT to get there so I can start eating again and pick up where I left off on my strength training!! Perfect timing, too, since it will coincide with the holidays (hence, lots of eating and carbs!).
Bet you'll look smokin' in the wrap dress!
Thanks mj. I hope you're right about the dress. I'm still curvier (read: FATTER!) than I like, but I'm making significant progress. I have no doubt you will make it to your goals by 11.24.09.

Double yay on the wrap dress!
I tend to agree, GL. I wonder if it's dieting mythology, but... whatever, I'll take it!

Maybe - but I'm pretty sure you could smoke me in the weight room . I can't tell you how happy I am to have another swimmer 'round these parts.

4A round 3
Front squats / push press warm up sets with bar, then 1x4 @ 65, then 3x8 @ 55. Thanks to everyone who gave me tips! You were right by my side today propelling me through this dreaded exercise.
Step ups 2x8 (2x20 lbs) then (1x25 lbs)
One point db rows 3x8 2x8 (2x20 lbs) then (1x25 lbs)
Lunges rear foot elevated 3x8-ish (2x25 lbs) <-- wicked hard time balancing today. I've got a bit of a cold; I'm blaming it on the virus!
Pushups 2x10 then 1x12
Planks 1x105 and 1xsomethingreallyinsignificant like 70
Woodchops 1x8 30 lbs
Nothing extra. Barely the entire workout. I maybe should have skipped today, but I rested yesterday and planned to swim at 5:45 this morning... and following the 2 - 3:30 am Chipmunk Extravaganza, that just wa'n't happenin'.
I am in rest mode: 2nd rest day in a row, with the hope that I can swim tomorrow morning with the group. I've got a cold, which is normally not a big deal for workouts... However, I am paying attention to my inability to balance during Wednesday's workout, my poor sleep patterns this week and (most important of all) my departure Sunday morning on a business trip that will have me exposed to people from all around the country (and to some extent, the world) for several days in a row. I want to go into that setting as healthy as possible so I don't a) extend this cold longer than necessary and b) pick up another virus because my immune system is suppressed, and so I can fit in a workout or two while I'm away.
I am savoring some small victories. I'm looking good, I'm feeling strong, and I'm fitting into pants I haven't worn in over a year.
I'll take it.
My hair is trimmed, my mental packing list is almost complete (next is the paper version ), I'll make a run to the makeup counter and drug store to pick up a few essentials. I'm ready!
There used to be a fair number of swimmers kickin' about. Seems to be less of us, and even less of us swimming! I am squeezing in one session a week right now, which is pretty low, but I am not really sure when to put more time in. It took a bit of self convincing that I could fit this in.
Personally I think that perhaps the most positive part of working out is the mental boost. I know I certainly have more confidence in my outward physical reception when I have been working out.
So AWESOME you are ready to kick ass and take names! Have fun on your business trip! But not too much.

Wow, I've got lots to catch up on. Glad to hear that your dog is home and well. Fitting into your goal pants is definitely something to celebrate. Nothing else to add, but hope that you continue to recover during your business trip. Take care.
Ha, ha! HA! HA! Ear infection, that's very clever, waiting until I got on the plane to announce your presence! You remember: there I was, sitting next to one of the top 5 guys in my company, smiling through the pain until we descended below 8,000 feet, wanting to stab myself in the ear with a pen to make the pain go away. And then last night, ohmygod, that facial tic that set in over dinner when the pain went up to 11? PRICELESS. I heart u, ear infection!
I went to a doc in the box this morning and got antibiotics. I'm on the mend and I can hear again (which is a total bonus when it comes to things like dinner with prospects). But workouts? Yeah. I'm not swimming and I don't have the balance (still!) to lift. I know the gym will be there when I'm ready.

My sister's brain surgery was today. The tumor is gone and her prognosis is excellent. I spent an hour with her in the hospital tonight, and I'm happy to report I have my PITA sister back
The past few weeks have been a jumble of travel (Orlando, Cannes), loss (my Henry died a few weeks back), work, ear infections and life. I'm swimming again but haven't weight trained since... well, since my last logged workout, whenever that was.
Since my sister will be staying with me post-op, and since I know it will be hard, my plan is to train myself into exhaustion
Man, your life has been really full lately. Sorry to hear about Henry - that's always really hard.
Glad to hear the good news about your sister - brain surgery must be terribly frightening to contemplate.
Wow. Busy doesn't even seem to be enough to describe your life lately. Sorry to hear about Henry, but great news for your sister. Will keep you guys in my thoughts.

You know, I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering why you hadn't been around the forum in a while. I'm really sorry to hear about Henry...losing a pet is so difficult. I am, however, very very happy to hear about you sister! That is fantastic news. I hope with the surgery behind you guys, you can now start to enjoy life and de-stress. Welcome back!!!
I was just thinking about you, too! So damn happy to hear about your sister and I am so sorry for Henry's passing.
I've missed you and am glad you are back.

Welcome back. Glad to hear things are well with your sister!
Good to have you back participating and nice to see you in the pool as well. Even if yours makes my time in the pool look silly
