Another thing to look into..but I will definitely pop in and say 'hi' when I get a chance! What did you major in? I am doing Fine Arts/Art History
Oh... you're one of THOSE people... um, yyyyyyyyeah, I'm TECHNICALLY in Cone, but I'm rarely there... um, yeah...

I did English undergrad and liberal studies grad--nice being able to get a master's in "going to school." If/When I start up again, I'll probably take a lot of the science lectures I never got around to, mostly physics, plus whatever classes a few of my favorite profs are teaching (literature, philosophy, sociology).

Well I am feeling much better. I did not get sick after all, I think lack of sleep and these crappy weather changes got me all woozy and gave me the worst migranes too! Got in a few nights of much needed sleep because 4-5 hours wasn't quite doing it for me! As much as I try to get 8 hours of sleep a night, with my work schedule most of the time it just doesn't work out that way
This is going to be a long and very busy week at work. Waking up at 4:45am is not going to be fun at all....

After taking 3 days off from the gym, I am going back to working out tomorrow so I will post diet/work out later on

LMAO...you read my mind! I went to orientation today. Didn't leave until 4pm and feel like I walked 5 miles back and forth around the campus!!

Espi-Thank you for coming back and peeking in. These past few days I have been concentrating on going back to school..All this paper work (bleh) and trying to pick out classes t register for. I hope you're doing well also

I did not even log my food in today, I ate bits and pieces of unplanned food for most of the day as I was on the go. Even though I am proud to say Phaedrus49er, that when I was in the Prospector Building?? (the one with Salsaritas) I was tempted to get a greasy burger but instead opted for a chicken salad and mexican soup ...tiny accomplishment of the day...you know, other than surviving SOAR and registering for classes!

So today I had: chicken salad, mexican soup, string cheese (2), starbucks coffee, some KFC w/coleslaw, mashed potato and 1 biscuit (tried to peel the skin off the chicken), graham crackers, banana, and a protein drink!

Managed to get into the gym today for 90mins and do upper and lower body...did not keep log. Yesterday didn't have much energy for the gym, lasted only 30 minutes. After going in to work at 6:30am and not leaving until 5:30pm, doing visual merchandising/transfers and lifting MANY boxes, that by itself was enough of a work out for me!

Ok, it is definitely time to get back into the routine of working out and eating right. I think the more I weigh myself the more I stick to my diet, so when I figured I'd give the scale only rare visits...surprise, surprise I gained weight (+6lbs). Not to sound obsessive or anything, I know it's only 6lbs...but it just shows how my old routine was working so much better than what I am doing now (ie:not weighing myself and not keeping track of foods I consume). I also took a break from the gym and didn't go for 6 days since I was swamped with work and school (taking 2 Art History classes=endless memorization). Anyways, I have had a few days of pigging out this week and eating whatever my soul desired (which can be good and bad at the same time). Ate a lot of greasy food and ate out quite a bit too, and it is starting to show. I am so bloated because of all the sodium packed foods I have been consuming! I'm sure most of that weight I gained is water weight...atleast I hope so.
So, with that said, I am still not going to go to the gym today or tomorrow...taking the weekend off and then come monday, I am getting back on track! Gym 5 days a week and healthier eating (planning my meals and keeping track of everything)....I am sure I have been coming low in protein and high in fat since I did not record anything on dailyplate for a whole week and feel so crappy because of it!
Hope everyone's week has been great

Ha. I always start slacking in my logging when I eat crappy food. It's like I think "well, that was a pig out day, so I'm not gonna plug in the numbers and depress myself." But that just leads to more bad eating (oh hell, I ate cake yesterday, I might as well eat cookies and a burger today).

I remember those crazy school days. Hard to maintain a healthy routine. Sounds like you have a plan, though. Good for you.

Thank You! I know EXACTLY how you feel...the crappier I eat, less likely I will want to write it down. I guess I feel less guilty that way since I can't see it written down

p.s. That is a really REALLY cute picture you have as your avatar! I am such a cat lover.

Thanks.

We have a cat vs. dog debate going on over in Katydid77's log. You could chime in as another on the cat team.

You are padding your numbers with soliciting cat lovers from other logs.

Sooooo typical of cat people.

LMAO over the cont'd cat-dog debate.

What wins me over to the cat team NOW is that they don't bark. The barking dogs next door just drive me totally insane! They do look very cute though. Keep forgetting what race it is, but they are of the nervous type that starts to bark at the smallest incident. One little dog isn't too bad, but our neighbor had 3 of the same for a couple of months and their near incessant barking drove me nearly literally UP the walls.
On the other side is a mix of German shepherd and some kind of Nordic dog & that dog is totally well behaved. Plus, when she barks, it's a lower-pitched bark & short in duration = much easier on the nerves.

But.. what I'd wanted to say is that our cat is quite dog-like (canine) in some ways. While most cats don't mind staying at home alone for a longer period of time, she gets very depressed and refuses to eat. When we come home she is nearly always waiting at the door or runs towards us, just like a dog would do. And then goes on to attack the food bowl as if she hadn't been fed for several days.

So similar to humans actually: when stressed we stop eating (at least I do) & then when the stress is released... BINGE mode.

Now.. to comment on you which is what I had wanted to do right away until the cat comments came in
It's extremely natural to focus on different & more important things when starting a new life = university. And of course studying has to take first seat & exercise second seat.. NOW your challenge is going to be to fit in exercise & diet which is something which many find to be too hard to do.

Maybe a time to just go back to lifting just twice a week & drop all the extra cardio.. especially now you are having so much spontaneous exercise already, just from going back & forth to campus/lessons etc.
But yes , yes & yes on weighing yourself frequently for staying true/honest to yourself. Most people that are successful at maintaining their weight, weigh themselves 2-3 times a week. Sometimes that's the only feedback people really need, unless you are retaining excess water for logical reasons (sickness, TOM, etc).

Anyway.. best of luck on finding that balance!

Yes, yes, yes. That's what drove me off the dog team, which I was on as a kid, though we never had a dog of our own. I loved them until I grew up and got my own house/s and have had to spend countless years being driven insane by inconsiderate dog owners who don't train their dogs and put them in the yard all day and night and let them incessantly bark.

For some reason, my childhood neighborhood did not have dogs. I think the American trend of "gotta have a dog" didn't really take off until I was older.

And, not only do cats not bark, but they do purr. .. . . .nothing like a purring cat for making you feel the warm fuzzy-wuzzys.

You are right about the poop-eating habit.. that's another thing cats won't do (AFAIK) and the main reason I didn't want to have my SO's dog in my house.. (originally she belongs to his parents but he always paid for the expenses, so it's his too)
We had her for a week and I constantly had to watch her when I took her out for a walk, so she'd not dig up the poop. It totally & entirely disgusted me and still does.. even though this habit is apparently a very natural one for many dogs.

My dog eats poop to this day, and no matter what I do I can't get her to stop. Since I'm not at home 24/7 all the time and can't lock up the cat in a room with the litter box. I've heard so many reasons why dogs do it, from vitamin deficiency to just trying to get your attention! Well if it's attention, then it's definitely working because I spank her every time she eats poop. The thing is...its only my cat's poop, and not some old poop that's laying outside.......

I have one dog that likes the almond roca, too. What works for us is one of those child gates to keep the dog out of the room where the litter boxes are kept.
