I don't think it's much of a problem, as long as you average a decent amount of calories over a period of time (like a week?). I average about 2500 calories a day, but some days (like yesterday) are as low as 1300 and others are HUGE!

I would say that eating low on a training day isn't the best choice though. Those are the days when you should probably eat the most. When those days come up, it's a good time to have a pre and post workout drink. Considering keeping a dry shaker bottle or two full of protein powder and powdered milk in your gymbag, just in case.

Just like you my days differ from each other, with some lows and very highs! I've been pretty good at getting either a pre-workout or post-workout meal/snack. I have to be careful about what I consume since I have very little tolerance for lactose, so I tend to go for lactose free protein drinks. Do you think getting something in before and after is better than one of the two?

I have also modified my diet- my protein intake now is almost double what it used to be (about 100g-compared to 50g).

Results for today:
Calories:1,061

Good night!

On days when I eat "too little," it seems to help to drink something before and after the workout. This tides me over until I get a a meal in.

Before is more important than after, unless it's the end of the day. You're going to eat something else eventually, right? A preworkout drink will still be with you for hours in digestion. You might feel like crap and hungry, but hypoglycemic or weak is different from having no nutrients "floating around" in your system.

Bottom line is that you want a good workout. Eat as much or as little as it takes to have the workout experience and effect you want. Then make sure to eat and/or drink some nutrition within an hour or two of your training. Usually it means that you won't have gone more than 3-4 hours without some sort of nutrition going down. That works.

Thanks, I'll def keep that in mind. I seem to lean for a after-work out drink.

Last two days have been crappy as far as my eating goes. I may be coming down with a cold/or something else? since I have little desire to eat and have the worst migraines. The same has always happened to me in the past right before I got sick. Keeping my hopes up that it doesn't happen since I am going to the beach the day after tomorrow and really need a good vacation-and tan!

Spinning class tonight at 6:30

What can I say, today was not the best day, but thats ok. I haven't been eating much for the past two days, but not quite feeling like I am coming down with a cold so I don't know what's going on. Leaving for beach tomorrow so I will def get caught up on eating (isn't that what vacations always do to us after all? lol)

Here are today's stats:
Cals:940
Fat:24g (23%)
Carb:116g (50%)
Protein:60g (26%)...will try to get another protein drink in before the day is over, which will bring it up to 86g
Sugar/Fiber:32g/11g

p.s. Really enjoyed the spinning class yesterday, it has been too long since I took one! And surprisingly I kept up the whole time (60mins). Will try to make it next friday for a whole 90mins!

Be back home on wednesday!

Why does time fly by so fast when you're on vacation?? My four days at the beach flew by like it was nothing-Ocean Isle,NC is a pretty beach to visit if anyone ever gets a chance. I am glad I didn't gain any weight back, nor did I lose any (so I am still at 122). Of course I am not surprised-I've ate like a pig for 4 days straight (chocolate cakes, chips, pizza,...you name it!) I managed to get a workout in yesterday right after we got back and now it's time to get back on track! Did about an hour of cardio and upper body weight lifting today (I still keep promising myself that I would write every set, rep, weight, etc...down, and I am trying my best to get to it!). But I did manage to get in 110g of protein today

So I've finally managed to read the NROL for women book and have to say that I am lacking one thing-patience! lol Being a small person already I know it won't be a matter of a few short weeks before I gain a reasonable amount of muscle and lose some fat. I haven't started stage one yet, but have looked at all the excercises and did some today-

Lateral Lunge 3x15xBW
Squat w/dumbbells-2x15x30lbs

Wide Grip pulldown 3x10x50lbs
Underhand grip lat pulldown 2x8x65lbs
Dumbbell Shoulder Press 3x15x12.5lbs
Bicep Curls 3x5x10/12.5lbs

Reverse Crunch-3x15
Swiss Ball Crunch-3x15

15mins Stairmaster, 15min jog and 20mins on the elliptical

(and some much needed stretching)

I have yet to get used to writing down the sets the way the book states...but I think I have gotten somewhat better Now all I have to do is actually start the program.

My diet has been consistent-protein at 90-110g, fat 30g-40g, and carbs around 120g

p.s. For yesterday's workout, I took a 90minute spinning class (which is normally 60 but the instructor desided to give us this wonderfull present of those extra 30mins..lol) Boy was my butt sore...really need to get a seat cushion, any suggestions as to where??

If you ride regularly your butt gets used to it. Regular riders have pretty hard bike seats compared to most seats at the gym.

The last time I rode was years ago until now. I've been doing it once a week for the past few weeks. I hope I get used to it

Well today is an unplanned rest day for me. Had to work and then wanted to get a workout in afterwards but had last minute babysitting duties to attend to for my friend! lol Ate a little less since I am not getting a workout in today...but most of the day is almost over and I still need 50g more protein (even after eating sushi for dinner) to meet my daily goal of 100g. 121lbs as of this morning, down another 0.5lbs

Never thought it'd say this but... I need to eat something with a decent amount of fat in it before the day is over! Without realizing it, I was so busy today with the work that until I came home and looked at my macros, I didn't know my fat intake for the day so far is only 10g (yikes...very short of my goal/recommended amount of 30-40g or even more). I did however get a good bit of protein in (120 wonderful grams ). Another thing that happened today-talk about being shocked! While working out, I was approached by one of the new personal trainers at the gym and he says "Would you be interested in doing shows?" I had no clue what he was talking about. After a few minutes of talking to him, I learned that he does many fitness shows and even recruits people for fitness magazine shoots (even Ironman I think he said). So I thought "What does this have to do with me?" According to him I've got potential (haha...yeah right), I have never thought or even dreamed of myself ending up in a fitness magazine ( not bragging or anything, yes I consider myself in good shape but I maybe I underestimated myself all along?)...but I figured, why not? I'll give him a try and see what happens. We made an appointment for Wednesday so he could train me and get to know me better...will update later on that!

Today's workout:

Bycicle Ab Workout-3x20
Vertical Leg Crunch-3x15

Leg Press-2x10x150lbs 2x10x165lbs
Calf Raise/Seated at 45degree-3x15x40lbs
Lunges-3x12x25lbs(total)

Bench dips-3x15 (couldn't help sneaking in some arm exercises even though it was supposed to be a lower body day)

20 minute jog on the treadmill and 25 minutes on the elliptical

...and I think that is pretty much it for today.

It's nice to get a little flattery sometimes. I went to a birthday party for one of my oldest friends son yesterday. I saw several people whom I haven't seen in over a year. I was nice to hear, "Wow! You look great!" from so many people who knew me 75 pounds ago.

And I can honestly say that the 10g of fat has never happened to me. I have no issues with getting enough fat....

Yes it is nice to get some flattery now and then...keeps me motivated! (GOOD JOB on the 75lb weight loss btw) And honestly, 10g of fat is a RARITY for me too...Since it was late in the day when I finally got home, I didn't want to eat anythng too heavy before I went to bed however I did manage to bring it up to 28g Does that count? lol

The danger of low fat is that fats support hormone production. Too low for too long and that can get messed up.

You can have fat at any time. Even bedtime. If you have room, that's the time for the spoon of peanut butter.

The fats will also help keep you satiated longer as well.

Full spoon? Knowing me, I could eat the whole jar! LOL (of course that will NOT happen)

______________________________ ______________________________ ___

Today was a so-so day, feeling very tired. Went out with some friends last night for a few drinks and didn't go to sleep until 3am ( and had to be at work at 7am) talk about TIRED. Somehow managed to drag myself into the gym right after work, all I could do is walk on the treadmill at an incline for a little bit, burned 250 calories and headed straight home. Thank God I do not have to work tomorrow, maybe I will get to sleep in

Today's Diet So Far:

832 calories
25g fat
88g carbs
84g protein

Also a small dinner and snack later so that will probably bring it up to 1200-1300 calories.

Forgot to write down my weight-120.0lbs as of this morning (right on the dot...no 1/2, 1/4, 1/5

And here is the final diet for today:

1245 calories
35g fat (24.5%)
154g carbs (47%)
95g protein (28.5%)

So the carbs were a little heavier today than normal compared to protein, must have been the extra blueberries, apples and the 1 1/2 muffins I've had, oh well...but boy was the muffin GOOD!

Hey, thanks for stopping by my log. Soreness is not a nice feeling, but it definitely is a GOOD feeling! Then again... I may be singing a different tune tomorrow morning when it's time to work out!

Your intake today is pretty close to my low cal days, though I have a few extra pounds on you. Keep it up!

Thanks ZeeSparrow! My intake is normally 1100-1300calories a day (surprisingly I am ok with it and not hungry most of the time). Good luck tomorrow, I'll be watching your log!

Today's Workout (not much but here it is!)

20 minute jog/run

10min Treadclimber

Bench Dips-3x15
Shoulder Press-3x15x12.5lbs/each hand
Bicep Curls-3x15x10lbs/each hand

TAKING TOMORROW OFF!

I have had very little desire to eat today as I have been around Alot of stress. Probably wouldn't have eaten much of anything at all if I didn't stop and check dailyplate.com (which I use to monitor my daily intake). Still low for today...

800 calories
16g fat (thought it should have been more, but not according to dailyplate.com)

Might-as-well-be-Matthews until next week, after which I'll either be in Ballantyne, Steele Creek, or Highland Creek-ish. You?

Are you considering training for shows? I'm interested in how that panned out (I might have read over it though.)

Well I am right smack on the border of Charlotte and Mint Hill. But I also lived in Matthews in the past!

Hi Anette! Yes I was approached about doing shows. But I am really skeptic about it, I think I still need quite a bit of training to do before I even consider it (but supposively I've got a lot of potential). I don't know if shows is what I really want to look into...however I wouldn't mind looking into doing spreads for fitness magazines instead. The new personal trainer (who approached me) at my gym used to be really into competitions and still does them sometimes and even appears in many magazines! I already trained with him once so far, so I will update if it goes any further

So I did one of those home body fat measurement tests today... But we all know how accurate they are :-/ What I really want to get done is an accurate hydrostatic weighing...anyone ever tried it??

22.2% body fat
93.4 LBM
26.6lbs of Fat
Estimated BMI-20.6
_______________
Neck-12"
Wrist-5.5"
Calf-13.5"
Hips-37"
Thigh-21"
Smallest waist-25"

Eek!

I Would really love to get down to around 15-18lbs of fat. That is my goal and I AM sticking to it

What is a realistic weight for you?? Because you certainly won't be GAINING any LBM, due to your super low calorie intake.

I know I've said in the past I don't mind losing another 5lbs but I would be perfectly fine at my current weight if my LBM was higher and my body fat was lower! I've just never been a big eater and I don't think my metabolism is that high (considering my low cal intake and I am not experiencing rapid weight loss). So what would you recommend my daily intake should be? Always open for suggestions
