Oh, and before I forget, I finally got my Forerunner (ahead of schedule on top of that) yesterday, so I "christened" it this morning! Woot! I only used the basic features (pace, time, mileage), but I'm tinkering with it further later on to can map the route I did this morning. I'm so looking forward to getting the most out of my Forerunner.
Cool new toy. Something I'd definitely be drolling over more if I ran and/or biked.
Stopping by my own log for a few minutes. I'm debating over whether or not to ditch my speed workout w/the coach tonight - I was invited out for at a martini lounge with friends, and I like martinis... But at the same time, I've been in a decent workout groove the last few weeks, and I like striking the iron while it's hot, so to speak. So we'll see.
Espi - Who knows, if we all ever make it to a JP Summit, we should make getting a great pizza a must-do activity! But New York would have to be the location.
Anne - I'm still figuring out my Forerunner, and need to set aside some time tonight to continue reading through the manual. It's such a nifty toy. For example, I found out last night my fastest pace was 7:06/mile using it.
Karla - Thanks for the kudos. And though the job weirdness isn't going away anytime soon, it's kind of quieted down, for now.
No speed workout today, no real exercise, nada. I got home from work later than usual, and decided I wanted to eat dinner right then and there. So I didn't even make it for drinks at the martini lounge!
Haven't input my eating stuff for the day yet, either, though veggie, fruit and protein intake will be good. Eats weren't totally "squeaky clean," as some might put it, (potato chips and rum cake were part of my meals today), yet somehow, I'll manage to go on.

Onward ho! LOL

Tracey - Hope you get your Forerunner ASAP!
Squeaky clean is so overrated. It's code word for boring.

Haven't been motivated the post the last few days because of work. I'm not going into detail about it, but let's just say yesterday was particularly bad, and it resembled a slaughterhouse, if you get my drift. We'll be working with a lot less resources, and everyone was quite tense throughout the day.
I almost missed my running session last night because I though I'd be at the office until 8 PM, but I was able to get out at a decent enough time, and I barreled down I95 at a record speed (without getting the attn. of a trooper, heh) to the starting point.
Yesterday's workout (8/20/09) 5.30 miles
Avg. pace: 9:38/mile
Fastest pace was 7:07/mile, and I noticed that my trusty Forerunner also said that I burned 371 calories. Don't know how accurate that is, but I'll take it.
Because I've been reading through Cadi's log, I'm really hungry for a Panera salad right now, LOL. I think I'll get the fuji apple chicken salad in a bit as my lunch.
No running antics today. I'm pretty beat, even though mileage will be lower compared to last week. I'd rather go to the gym, lift some weights, and if I'm in a cardio-bunny mood, I'll hop on the rowing machine instead. Determined to be a somewhat good girl, nutrition-wise, this Friday because tomorrow, I'm going to a pub, and that means lots of greasy food and good beer.
Sorry that work is so negative right now. Hope everything eases up soon.
But yay on being able to get your running in! "Exercises give people endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don't kill their coworkers, they just don't."*
Enjoy the pub tomorrow!
*Paraphrasing a bit to better fit with your situation.

I am glad to know I impact your life. Hope you enjoyed the salad!

x2 Gosh I can sure sympathize with negativity at work. I just came from working 5 years at a place where the boss was a real wienie-head. He had 'temper tantrums', threw things and hit people with them, cussed us out horribly, and would just simply decide he randomly hated certain people.
Yeah, yeah, I know. Why did I put up with it right? It's one of those things you wonder later . .. but at the time I just freakin' needed the job, you know? Now that I am no longer there I realize the crazy amount of stress that was.
De-stress and enjoy the pub!

Well, you'll be out enjoying yourself by now, so I'll hope that you had a good time (instead of wishing you a good time).
Overall notes: OK, slow going in the beginning, and started to feel "good" by the time I got to the pushups portion. I also got some help from one of the 24Hr Fitness trainers on the db 1-pt row (on the second set, my hip was rolling out to the right, and he helped me correct that). He observed my lunges, and said form was good there, though.
Planks were brutal - my core felt every second of it. Woodchops were also "ugh," but I walked away from that feeling good.
Saturday, 8/22
Rest day, but I took care of errands, and did light housework. Went out to a pub for a birthday celebration, and carbed up (had beer, and shared pasta, shepherd's pie, potato soup with friends) along with the usual fish n' chips fare.
Sunday, 8/23 -9 miles, avg. 10:11/mile pace
-0.76 mile, 11:24/mile*
*9 miles was my original plan, but when I got there, decided to stretch it out a bit, and walked/jogged for nearly another mile afterward.
Amanda - The run on Thurs. nite did wonders for my psyche! I was in such a lousy mood, and so stressed out, and it's sometimes good to literally run away from all that. And yeah, it sure does prevent me from going postal. Not that I'd ever go postal on my colleagues and bosses. I hope. :P
Peaches and Cadi - Thanks. And Cadi, so glad that you left that horrible work environment! I also understand how the paycheck's so important, to the point where we'll put up with horrible behavior from others. But there's only so much we can tolerate, too.
Tom - Glad to hear you enjoyed your beer this weekend as well! And BTW, I was very fortunate last night because the bartender who take care of my drink orders knew how to properly pour my Guinness.
Anne - Totally had a wonderful time last night, and I feel recharged because of it. Of course, my new work week tomorrow may change all that, but for now, I'm feeling great, LOL.
I hope your good weekend does help in carrying you through the week!

Well, based on yesterday, good luck with the rest of the week. Ugh.
Don't feel as motivated to post here and in other places right now, but not really because of that. I'm settling into a non-internet groove at the moment - started reading "Promise of the Wolves" by Dorothy Hearst, and spent some time with my newborn baby nephew last night. I'll be back to posting regularly soon enough, but I like taking these mini-breaks from the online world.
Enjoy your time away from the Internet. I was thinking the other day how nice it would be to turn off all the technology and do some reading (finally found a really good book with 550+ pages!).
Should do just like you.. especially since I need time away from the interwebz too because of a TON of studying I need to do.
Which can be a tad difficult with a webshop

Completely understood. I'm the same way--often eventually I'll get "Internet'd out" for a bit and just prefer to do some other things.

I am usually MIA from the computer/interwebz on the weekends. I need a break from it, too.
Impressive 9 miler back there. I have been getting the itch to try a longer distance some weekend coming up. I might wait until the humidity has moved on. I am jealous of the Forerunner. My longest distance lately is only 5, but I just like gadgets
Hello everybody. Couldn't stay away from here for that long, LOL!!
Despite my best efforts at trying to ditch tonight's workout, I wound up going to my usual running club meetup, and it was a good thing I didn't skip it - I got to test drive these Spira running shoes earlier. They were quite comfy, and they really did feel like ideal "race day" shoes. However, I dunno if I'm gonna cough up $135 for a pair that I'd only use for racing and speed sessions.
Beesknees - Oh, the Forerunner's awesome... I definitely encourage you to get it!!!
So far, I've had a relaxing and enjoyable Saturday. I woke up late (9 AM), had coffee in my PJ's, and ate oatmeal for breakfast. My productivity log for the day also included going to the mall, where I bought new workout gear, and a bathing suit. The bathing suit, I'm actually not so keen on right now. It turns out there's been a lot more loss on the boobage front than I previously thought. *sigh* On the bright side, I saved over $80 on my purchases - I almost never, ever buy anything for retail price, especially when it comes to clothes.
Ok, so let's get to talking about workouts and whatnot. Here's last night's report:
NROLFW Workout 5B 3x4(except for Prone Cobra)
-BB Romanian Deadlift/Bent Over Row: 50 lbs; last 2 sets @ 60 lbs.
-Partial single-leg squat: BW
-Wide-grip lat pulldown: 60 lbs.
-Prone cobra: 90 secs.; last 2 reps @ 120 secs.
-YTWL: 5 lbs. DBs
-Swiss ball crunch: 15 lbs. DB; 20 lb. DB
-Prone jackknife
-Hanna side flexion 2
I can't wait for my copy of Power Training to arrive. As much as I enjoy these workouts, I also need something new. More importantly,I need to pay more attn. to strength. I'm starting to feel alarmed that I've been really hazy in this area - meaning that I haven't done any PRs recently here. So a new program is definitely in order!
And I also spoke with my running coach about marathoning earlier than I previously thought... I originally only scheduled the Palm Beach Half-Marathon for this December, and that would be that. My first marathon would then come about Oct/Nov 2010. But I've been mulling over this for a while, and I was thinking that perhaps I can push on a bit more quickly. I consulted with her, and she said that while she thinks it's very important that I stick w/my initial plan of the Dec. HM, that if I keep training through January, I should have no problems with a Feb. marathon!!! (It helps that I have no real time goal for the marathon, except to complete it in under 5 hrs. ).
