Now that you know your size, I wonder if you can look online for the bras you purchased at a cheaper price?
Congratulations on losing 2" - that's significant!
Significant, yeah, but it was only in my boobs! And I wasn't really trying to do that. Now, if I lost 2 inches off my waist I'd be dancing in the streets.
Thing about size is, it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. But, now I know how the bra should fit, I can probably fit myself at stores.
Ok; I got brave and took pics this morning. I am at work, so I can't post them until tonight.
Amazing how skewed my image of myself was from just looking in the mirror. In the pics I can see how I am a pear, and my waistline, which is the part of me I always focus on, needs much less focus than I thought, and my hips and thighs need more! Also, left thigh is way different than right; fatter, wider, it's weird.
New goal: to work on slimming hips and thighs, although I'm not sure how to directly do this, other than more fat loss. I already feel really small. Maybe heavier weight work on legs to try to gain muscle. Want legs like Beesknees' after pics from her recent challenge; she's got HOT legs! Will explore her log and see if I can figure out how she did her change. It's exactly what I'm looking for.
Well, I sort of took a break from my counted, careful eating today. (Although I still logged in Fitday what I ate.) I gave myself my promised reward for finishing stage 1 of NROLFW, and went and had a bra fitting. Good timing, too, since with the scale drop of the last few weeks, my chest has lost almost 2 inches, and my old bras were getting loose. I bought one new bra that goes well with a lot of my shirts, and one sports bra, which, as Kathairein said hers is, is "a miracle of engineering." I wanted to get more, but the store was waaaaaay pricey, so I limited myself.
My store is expensive too, I think they factor the cost of the fitting into the cost of the garment. Flyingdogs says the manufacturer's sites sell them cheaper -- if you have one you like you could prolly order one or 2 more in the same size/style from the company directly for way less.
Well, I tried to upload photos, but I don't know how. When I pick "insert image" the box wants a URL, but pics on my own computer don't have URLs. And when I tried the attachment button, I was told the pic is too big. So I have no idea what to do.

Yeah, I'll try that. Thanks. You are definitely right about the sports bra! I love it.

You need to host your pictures somewhere else online, then use that URL when posting them. Options are Flickr, Photobucket, and there's another one I just can't think of at the moment.
But, but. . .aargh. Why is all this computer stuff so complicated? Sigh. . . .I'll work on that. Apparently people are looking for my pics, though, since the question was answered so quickly
And Jane; I think I was off on my guesstimation of bf%. Seeing the pics, I look like I'm higher than I thought I was.
Grrrr....I don't get it. I put them on Flickr, copied and pasted each URL with the insert image button, and saw six little squares in my post, and when I hit Submit Reply, they are not there!
How does everyone learn how to do this stuff? Are there instructions somewhere? I'm very frustrated right now.
This will probably have to wait a week until I'm back from vacation, unless I have time tomorrow night to work on it.
make sure it is the URL for the picture itself and not just the page URL that hosts it.
if you paste the URL in a new window it should be just the picture and not the page.
If you're not sure,
paste the URL bare here for your album so we can get there too and we'll help you
the different hosting sites work different to tell you how to find the URL
I figured out how to post them, but they are HUGE, so I'm going to play around with sizes first. Will finish tomorrow, am very tired and have to be at work early am.
Y'all will just have to wait!
(And thanks for the help, LisaS. You gave me the right direction.)
I've been sort of a slug lately. Work has been so busy that when I get home I just want to sit. Meant to go to the gym after work yesterday, but just couldn't face it. Tonight I made myself do some cardio. Did interval sprints, 7.0, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5 mph. Then did 25 mins. on elliptical. Shin splints starting to act up again. Learned today from a former runner coworker, that shin splints will turn into a stress fracture if they are ignored and run on. I didn't know that; I thought it was a muscle problem, not a bone problem. Definitely going to take a break from running again. On vacation next week anyway, and so won't be tempted to run.
Flying to Phoenix tomorrow, won't be here for a while probably, unless we stop somewhere there's internet, briefly. Plan to be incommunicado in the forest for days. Can't wait.
I think they are a muscle issue, not a bone issue, but perhaps the issue is that if you continue to run and the muscle is compromised that you can do further damage. Ideally I'd talk to a doctor about it, someone maybe who does sports medicine.
Officially it's called periostitis, and it's the inflammation of the sheath surrounding the bone, due to muscle stresses. If left untreated, it can lead to a stress reaction in the tibia, and eventually a fracture. Not sure exactly why the bone could fracture, but that's what I've read. I found some good information on the Mayo Clinic website. At any rate, I have scared myself into taking a break from the running! I will try icing the shins; that's recommended.
So I need some other activity to get those hips and inner thighs slimmed down. I guess I could try Jane Fonda's leg lift workouts, I'm sure they're great for toning, shaping, and lengthening.
if/when you return to running you might look at your form. I've heard people with shin splint issues getting relief moving from a heel strike to a more midfoot strike (ala POSE or Chi running). It will mess with your calves at first but it seems to have a good anecdotal track record.

I'll have to try that. Ironically, I have been trying to lean back more lately when I run, instead of forward, to get more of a heel strike because I thought maybe that would help. It didn't. Perhaps I was going the wrong way!

My running coach has told me that you should lean a bit more forward while you run, to better propel your torso. Leaning back puts strain on your body.
And how about your running shoes? I know, it's the most obvious question, but how long have you had them, and are they the best fit for your foot type? It might be time to switch them out if you've had them for a while.
Have fun in Phoenix, and please update us when you can.
Glad you finally managed to post pics. You look great!!
Re. shin splints. I get pain in my lower leg (only really the left one) when I haven't run for a while. I have shoes that I got from a specialist running shop, where I was fitted and they watched me running. Also, when I run I used a mid-foot strike. These both seem to help.
I made it back from a week in the wilderness outside Flagstaff. It was so peaceful. Hubby and I drove the RV all over the national forest, exploring and camping in different spots every night. Nice to be able to just drive into the forest and get so far away from any roads and people that it feels like you're totally alone in the world. I love that.
However, I got almost no exercise other than a lot of walking; and I didn't track my diet at all. I didn't even wear my GWF for most of the trip. Diet was really ok, though, we bought PP at WalMart (terrible quality, but cheap) so I had my oatmeal with it every morning, and I didn't eat any bread, just a lot of low-carb tortillas with eggs, chicken, or steak we grilled. Ate apples, PB, cherries, cheese, tuna. The only days I really messed up were yesterday and today. We stayed at a hotel last night, because we were on the drive back to CA and stopped at Lake Havasu, on the AZ/CA border, for the night, and it was 120 degrees!!!!! We weren't going to camp in that, because RV has no AC, so we got a hotel and ordered pizza (yum yum, first pizza in months!) then today I ate a Haagen Dazs ice cream bar during the drive because it was so hot in the desert, and tonight I made chocolate cupcakes after dinner. (I've already eaten three, and might have one more )
But it's ok, because it's eating that I have allowed myself, not just binge eating because I can't help myself. It's a subtle difference, but real. I know it won't throw me off the track altogether. I'm back to regular routines tomorrow, and I look forward to that.
I did do some HIIT when I got home tonight, just sprints, and I stopped after the 5th sprint, because I could feel the shins start to hurt. I went home and iced them.
Have to sign off now, Husband wants to watch a movie with me.
Will post more tomorrow, after I do workout A1 of stage 2, for real this time.
