I can defenitely see the progress, and am proud of it. I even took a pic, wouldn't do that if I didn't think it looked good:

I do know that I've still got a ways to go though.

Today's deficit wasn't very good, due to the fact that L. brought cake to work. Not that I ate any, but we had to transport it, so we went by car instead of by bike. That's 229 less kcal burned... It turned out to be rather fortunate though, since my first batch of hiking boots arrived in a HUGE parcel (2 different models, in 2 different sizes), and it would have been rather annoying to lug them home by bike. The other company I ordered boots from has only today mailed me with the shipping costs, I'm gonna cancel them if one of the pairs I have now is any good.

Went for a 50-minute walk during lunchbreak, and just got back from the gym where I did 35 minutes on the stepmachine. I intended to do 1 hour, but I got tired.

Had yummie eggplant cubes with quorn in tomatosauce with lots of herbs for dinner.

I'm not exactly hungry, but not exactly satisfied either since I increased the deficit. Looking forward to refeed on Saturday!

Foods: 1,352 kcal
Activities: 1,998 kcal
Deficit: 646 kcal

you eat quorn - does that mean you do eggs or only in processed foods?

I eat eggs, I quite like them. Yum... devilled eggs with guacemole! I do make a point of only buying biological eggs though.

Been reading a bit in the NROL4W forum. The weird pulley core exercise I can't find any more (but still put in my workout) has now been replaced by the pike jackknife!

Oh, and these are my new hiking boots:

Probably, anyway. Stupid insole.

Foods: 1,337 kcal <= heh
Burned: 2,004 kcal
Deficit: 667 kcal

Won't have any time for fitness tomorrow, since I'm joining my friends for a hike at 10:00, which is when the gym opens. Tonight I'm gonna go out, there's live music in town, and a fellow I've been e-mailing with for work is playing in a band there.

Tomorrow is carb- & hiking-day.

I think a hike counts as fitness. Enjoy it and the carb day!

I meant lifting
Now I can do my A-workout next monday instead of Saturday though, which makes way more sense (I got an A, B, and C workout, and 3 lifting days/week.)

Having some problems with my right foot: a burning sensation in my heel. Its probably my sciatic nerve being pinched again, and I'm getting more than annoyed with it. My right leg feels like it doesn't belong with my body: its shorter than the left, weaker than the left, and often sore. I keep thinking "if only my right leg would somehow become the same length as my left, then all my leg problems would be solved". Of course, they wouldn't be solved - but the opposite (my leg problems can never get better than it is now, cuz its shorter) isn't true either. It CAN get better! I can make it stronger, without waiting for a miracle that will make it equally long as my left leg, if only I decide to DO it, instead of being mopey about it! I think I'm on the right way with that, I've included unilateral leg exercises in all my workouts, and my hiking has changed my attitude towards leg muscles. I like making my legs stronger now, because I have a goal.

Also getting annoyed with my the fact that I can't touch my toes, and can't pronate my feet very well. All my leg muscles are pretty tight. I don't think this factor is contributing to my right leg feeling healthy and strong. I'm gonna look up some nice leg stretches and put them together with some foamrolling for better leg mobility.

One question though: will foamrolling the IT-band ever become painless?

My right buttock is also painful again (and slowly creeping up on the rest of my hip), from Saturday's workout. Still not sure whether its the deadlifts or the lunges that aggravates this, as I didn't wanna skip either exercise last Wednesday. Since I'm gonna do the leg-mobility stuff, I'm also gonna do piriformis-stretches, and buttock-tennisball-rolling.

When I went to the physiotherapist for my buttock last year he concluded the origin was lower back pain, so I'll also add a couple of exercises for that. Last time my leg-problem was gone before I knew it, just from the seemingly wussy stretch exercise he gave me for my lower back.

Gah. Enough typing, its stretching-time!

Small rant before stretching, after seeing the pic of my back again:

I don't wanna be just proud of my back, I wanna be able to be proud of my legs, too! Not feel like I have a shriveled up little limb dangling somewhere on the right side of my lower body.

Weight: 64.2kg (141 lbs), so slowly but steadily going down again, about 0.1kg / day
Heel: better
Buttock: better

Off for a 20-ish km hike in 30 minutes (not really sure about the distance, I don't actually know where we're going yet). They were all out of fruity nutty bars at the supermarket yesterday, so I got some pumpernickel (heavy rye) bread instead - its hard to find a replacement with lots of protein while already in the supermarket!

Not gonna wear the new hiking boots yet, I'll defenitely get blisters if I go hiking in them without breaking them in first.

Hikes were good: 2 different routes of 10 km / 3 hours each. Was more tiring than last weeks hike over relatively flat terrain though: lots of clambering over rocks was done.

No idea about my kcals... went out for dinner instead of cooking, and had icecream after (B&J brownie flavour). Don't think it was that bad though.

1 kg up from the maintenance day yesterday... ouch! Back to deficit today! I'm hoping the extra kilogram will come off quickly...

I agree with Joyce--nice picture!

Sounds like you had fun on the walk, and don't worry--I'm sure that kg will come right off.

Weight not down since Saturday... I'm hoping its the DOMS. I'm starting to get a bit frustrated with what seems like a lack of progress. I'm gonna try and be patient till Wednesday though - if its DOMS, it should subside by then (unless I get new DOMS from today's workout..). If its not better by Wednesday, I might skip my workout to see if not getting DOMS helps. If that doesn't help, I'm gonna go lower kcal. I wanna get to 60 kcal dammit!

Foods: 1,351 kcal
Activities: 1,929 kcal
Deficit: 578 kcal

Workout:

A. DB Snatch (5x5): 16 kg
B. DB Single Leg Romanian DL (3x8): 16 kg
C1. Plank (2x 60 sec): 38 sec / 31 sec
C2. DB Inclined Cuban Snatch (2x12): 4 kg (1x10 only)

It was social day at the gym today: The English Guy started a conversation with me (nothing much, just asked how I was doing, and whether I just came in, I think he's really shy, and I'm worse), and Jakke waved at me. (Yes, this is more social than my normal gym experience, unless of course Juleske and/or her BF are around.)

That's alright, its tons more social than my normal gym experience too! Until my husband started coming with me, it would be a rare day I even looked someone in the eye while I was there! Maybe just a hand motion and a grunt that I wasn't using the step or swiss ball anymore!

Weight: 64.4 kg, still over my nice Saturday morning low. I think it'd have been lower if I hadn't woken up in the middle of the night and didn't get any decent sleep after that. Sleep's been a bit iffy the last week or so

Foods: 1,217 kcal
Activities: 1,935 kcal
Deficit: 718 kcal

1 almond and 3 brazil nuts added an unneccesary 100 kcal, might as wel have skipped them since they weren't really satisfying. Lesson learned: do not go anywhere near nuts when in a deficit!

Began breaking in my hiking boots with short walks during lunchbreaks, without insole at first, but my back suffered for it, so now I added the insole.

Been wondering where to do my supine rows, I've put them in my program for September. Only place in the gym that seems suitable for it is the squat rack - our Smith Machine has a bench built in. I'm considering getting my own height-adjustable bar for rows and chinups (you never know, I might get there some day..).

Yikes, that much? Of course I know brazil nuts are quite high in calories, but really that much for 4 nuts seems off. I get about 20 almonds per ounce so that puts them at about 8 cals (let's say 10). Oops, just took the brazil nut info and that's where it came from. Oh well, you've learned something I suppose.

1 almond: 7 kcal
4 brazil nuts: 92 kcal

I took the "cup, shelled, (32 kernels)" and used "0.1" as amount, for 3.2 nuts (felt lazy and didn't wanna calculate the right amount for 4.0* nuts). It does seem very much though, so I might be way off.

* can't remember whether it was 3 or 4 nuts

64 kg! Take that, fat!

Still not on schedule, but at last I'm 'safely' under 65. Now on to 63!

Way to pummel that fat! 63kg, ho!

And I'm not on schedule, either. May I flatter myself to say you're in good company?

You may indeed

Phew... very hot today, 30 degrees celcius at work. We got to leave 30 minutes earlier. No energy today (prolly due to the weather and maybe cuz I forgot my multivitamins yesterday), so didn't go to the gym. Had to push myself to do something at least, good thing I had a receipt to post in town, so I walked there and back, which is a little over an hours walking.

Foods: 1,308 kcal
Activities: 1,998 kcal
Deficit: 690 kcal

Not too shabby, hopefully the scale will show something nice tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow I'll go buy 2 thick planks of wood at the DIY center to make my pullup bar.

Hey eater of Quark. I saw it in my grocery store today, 454g for USD5.99 which is about 4.20 euros. So, when you post your quantities of Quark consumed, this is what I think of. Is the expense the same where you are?

Probably not; we pay about 50p (75ish cents?) for 250g, here where I am in the UK.

Heck no!

0.45 eurocents (0.59 dollarcent) for a 500g tub. I eat about 2.5 / day now. Its a cheap and portable food, which is exactly why I eat so much of it. I put 2 tubs in my backpack every morning and put them in the fridge at work to eat during the day.

Still lack of energy today, and its very humid. Forecast says its gonna be 34 degrees celcius (93.2 in farenheit). I brought salt to work, gonna put a tiny pinch in my glasses of water (I even put it in my diet coke just now ). Weight was slightly up again, but my fat should know me better than to think it can out-stubborn me - I could teach mules a thing or two.

Oh, and I dreamt of the Niagara Falls from seeing the photo's in realcnd's log. Can't remember much else about the dream, unfortunately. I think Leigh Peele was in it, too, though she looked like Snarla's pre-weightloss photo.. she was gonna marry 2 schoolmates of mine, during a nude seminar. Weird.

we get a bit of a fancier type of Quark than Pips gets (her is from the biggest discount-store = Aldi) but we pay 60 cents (80 dollar cents?) for the very good low-fat Quark from Albert Heijn, also a 500g tub.
That's the rockbottom price though.. their high-fat (to die for) Quark is closer to 2 euro (~2.50 USD).

I've been looking around for quark from time to time, haven't found it yet. If it's that expensive here in the US, I'll look into making it myself if I truly want to try it. I make kefir and yogurt; why not quark?

LOL that about tops my dream last night where Michael Jackson and Marcia Cross had mental powers and were trying to blind each other! Pips, you and I will have to compare notes on what we're eating before bed (though I tend to not eat after dinner...).
