How are you getting your max heart rate, average heart rate, and calories burned? Do you have a monitor or something similar? I am looking into something and was wondering what you are using.
WArmup: 30 jumping jacks, 10 squats, 10 wall pushups, 10 arm circles with 5# dumbbells each direction, and an inchworm.
Alternating Set:
Dumbbell Incline Bench:
I got the bench set up and stood up to get my dumbbells and someone stole it. The other bench that inclined was already in use. It was a woman who was new to the weight room and I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, so I just let it go and used the bar and bench for first set. I was in a hurry since my family was with me, I didn't want to load and unload bar -- so I just made due. I know I am too nice sometimes.
I probably didn't rest like I should have between sets. I know my family and that they would be ready to go way before I was, so I hurried some of the sets.
I wasn't hungry today --- will post my eating tomorrow. But am expecting DOH tomorrow.

Well I had put my water and towel behind it. The bad thing was there was a bench right beside it that didn't incline, and all she was doing was situps on it. But it was good to see another woman in that area and didn't want to make her feel unwelcomed. She seemed new to lifting and kind of insecure anyway. So I did my good deed for the month
The DOH happened right before I went to bed. All of a sudden I was starved. Probably I relaxed enough for the hunger to hit. So even though it was after midnight I still counted it towards yesterday's food.
We have started homeschool and I am also doing a Calculus class at the co-op. I haven't done Calc in awhile and am a little nervous that all of a sudden I am going to be in over my head.
So, yeah, I went from a lazy do what I want summer to having to be responsible adult. So stressful LOL

It was a weight lifting day so my calorie goal was 1900. Though I find that I prefer to eat about the same amount of calories everyday. I think when I tried to make myself eat quite a bit more on lifting days then the next day I also wanted to eat quite a bit more.
Calorie Goal: 1900
Actual Calories: 1633
Over/ Under: - 267
Protein: 134g
Fiber: 20g
Carbs: 116g
Fats: 49g

I was reading someone else's log and you mentioned that being in the heat can make you put on water weight. Last week when I put on so much weight, I had been out in the killer Texas (100+) heat and humidity. So, I have high hopes that it was actually water weight and this week the water weight will be gone and I will be back to the mid 148s.

What classes do the co-op in your area offer? 'Back in the day' (when I was in high school ) our's offered higher math, some sciences, and of course, monthly field trips.

The co-op that I am a part of offers almost everything. They offer health, science, history, math, English, writing & literature, art, Spanish, PE, SAT prep, and yearbook (that I can think of off the top of my head). It is for grades PK-12.
If I take over the advanced math and calculus the lady that teaches those is going to start teaching an AP Calculus and AP Physics. Though I think Saxon Calculus is plenty difficult for high school.
Since I am such a bad writer, I use them for writing &/or grammar stuff. We meet 2 times a week. They also have 2 lunch periods one for elementary and the other for middle school & high school. This is nice because it gives them time to socialize together.
This co-op has probably 300-500 kids. There is a really large one in the area that has over 1500 kids. But this one is closer and I like the fact that it is large enough for diversity without being so large you feel lost.
There is also a homeschool school nearby where my kids have taken classes. It has all of the things I mentioned plus drama and debate. It is smaller and more expensive.
I am so glad that these are available. I would go nuts without them. I tried to get my youngest to go to school. But he felt like it was unfair that I homeschooled my oldest and not him. My oldest was high functioning autistic and couldn't survive in the classroom. He is in college now and is doing fine --- still has some problems but has developed decent coping skills.
How about you -- what made you want to be homeschooled? Or was it not an option for you?

In general, homeschooling fit our lives much better. When I was very young we traveled a lot with my Dad's job, and then as I got older (9 or 10) we settled in one spot, but opened a business that was very much a family effort.
I was raised in a Christian family and my parents did like the idea that they could monitor what was being put in our little heads, BUT at the same time didn't want to shelter us or 'encase' us, so to speak.
So, when I was in 5th and 6th grade, they did send us (my brother and I) to public school just so that we could see if we liked it better. To give us the choice. The school wasn't bad, but we both tested really high (I was 9th grade level in 5th grade) so it was just so darn boring. LOL. I am sure you are aware that it is pretty common for homeschoolers to do well with standardized testing . . .
By the end of 6th grade I was simply losing interest because I hadn't 'worked my brain' in a while, so I just asked to go back to homeschool. My brother felt the same way.
After that, we never looked back. I know it isn't 'right' for everyone, and I have seen instances where it was abused, but it was certainly was the correct decision for us.
I will say that one of my 'pet peeves' are folks that demonize it off hand, or simply prescribe a 'stereotype' personality and try to force all homeschoolers into that mold. Or when they start on the 'what about socialization . . ?' thing . . oh brother.
I have met thousands of homeschoolers and one thing I have learned is that they are all unique and they all have different motivations. Not all are great people . . some are lazy . . some are 'different' . . and some are just plain weird. But the vast majority of them are just good people that are trying to make the best decisions for their family and are willing to make a decision that might not fit in with the current mainstream.
And you know what? There are lazy, 'different', and weird people in every aspect of life. I mean, have you seen some of the people that hang out in gyms??? LOL
*steps quietly off soap box*
It is awesome that your son wants you to homeschool him! That shows that he saw the effort you put in with your older son. That is the best example you could give to him.
I remember the hours my mom and dad spent teaching me as some of the best memories of my childhood. It's amazing how much that one-on-one interaction still sticks with me today.

Yeah, sometimes I feel like I had to give up so much to be able to homeschool. But most of the time I feel lucky that I have such a wonderful relationship with both of my boys. They are my best friends --- though they know that I am boss
I am glad it was a good experience for you too.
When I was growing up we travelled with the carnival and I missed a lot of school. So I would teach myself. Basically, I homeschooled myself and went to school. I was a problem maker at school, because I didn't feel that I needed to be there. I missed 3 months a year and was able to teach myself so why did I have to go be in "prison" to learn. Plus I think that when I started college the fact that I missed so much and taught myself gave me an advantage.

Very very well said, Katydid! I love that soapbox, hop up there any time! You give me encouragement that my kids just might turn up ok, after all!
I homeschool for lots of reasons, but always said I'd never homeschool just because of the negative (i.e., to "shelter" my kids from those awful public school kids--yeah right, or because the schools are "so bad", or whatever.) I love to teach my kids, they love to learn (for the most part ), and we are flexible so they have been able to have some amazing experiences that they wouldn't have, had they been tied down to a public school schedule. I could go on forever too, but sadly, football practice is calling (at the public school!)
WOW! A real carnie!!! I've mentioned my fascination with carnies in my log and several others' logs over the years when the discussion arose. And, here you are!

Alternating Set
Bulgarian Split Squat 3X15 @ BW
Step-Up 3X15 @ 30#
Reverse Crunch 2X 15 with Big Ball, 15 @ BW
Ran 1 min and then rested 1 min @ 6, 6.5, 6.5, 6
Stretched and then walked until my husband came back to get me.
I think that I leaned too far forward on my squats tonight. I went ATG with the 45# and went until the back of my legs touched my calves on the 95#. There were a few times that I was actually aware that I was too far forward.
Then when I went to do my deadlifts, my back was fatigued. Noticed it in the middle of my second set. Then I just did a few and rested, trying to be careful to not hurt myself. I changed the weight on the last set but could still feel my back tightening.
So, I took it easy the rest of the workout. Back is a little sore today, but I was afraid it would be sorer.
I started back to WW this week. Each point is around 50 - 55 calories and I get 20 points a day and then get to eat 35 extra over the week. That would put my average input between 1250 - 1375. That might explain why I felt so weak. Though you do get to exercise points, but those are extremely underestimated. For example, my heart rate monitor says that I burned 712 calories last night, if I go by what WW says I only get an additional 3 points (app. 150 calories). I might cheat on this and give myself an additional 6 points (app 300 calories).

I think "cheating" on the WW points is a good idea, particularly if you're feeling weak. I haven't done WW myself, but my guess is that your strength training is much more intensive than the average female WWer's.

Those 3 sets of 15s are killers! Between you, me, and the lamppost I am starting to cringe when I see the superset of the Bulgarian Split Squat and Step Ups -- particularly when it is 3 sets of 15!
This week I've been eating a less than usual and had to have a little extra something before I headed over to the gym each time. Ain't no shame!
Good luck with the calculus. You'll be fine if you stay focused.
I so agree. The 3X15 are my least favorite. I really like the 5X5.
I am trying to get serious about taking off my recently acquired extra poundage. It is hard for me to know how much extra to eat on my lifting days. I think about 1600 is my maintenance calories. I am trying to eat about 1200 -1300 on non-lifting days but not sure how much to eat on lifting days. Though I really felt weak the last time I lifted. I might decide to eat the extra calories the day before instead of the day of.
Thanks with the encouragement on the calculus. It has been a long time since I've done it. Amazingly, it seems to be coming back more quickly than I thought it would.

Alternating Set
Dumbbell Shoulder Press 3X5 @35#eh, 2X5 @ 30# eh
Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown 5@ 85#, 5@ 100#, 3X5@85#
Alternating Set
Barbell Close-Grip Bench 4X5 @85#, 4@ 95#
High Pull 5X5 @ 60#
Swiss Ball Crunch 3X 25 with 25# plate
Ran 1 min. rested 1 min @ 6, 6.5, 7, 7 --- then walked 5 min. and stretched.
I forgot to alternate incline bench until my 3rd set (brain fart). On the Shoulder Press I put the 35# back in the rack and they were in use when I got back --- learned my lesson. The 40's were to heavy so I used the 30's. Tried to push myself to a higher level on both the Seated Rows and the Lat Pulldown but my form suffered too much.
I think Sun. is a good workout day for me. I eat more calories on Sat. & Sun. so I feel better and not ready to gnaw my arm off after my workout.
BTW, I burned up another blender. This one was an somewhat expensive one ($200+) so I am thinking about just getting something cheap like the bullet. I figure I could burn up about 8 of those for the price of my last one. Any blender advice????

I killed my blender a while back when using it to knead bread dough (I know, I know; stupid idea as they don't have the motor for it) and now just have a Cuisinart immersion blender. Cleanup is super easy, though of course I wouldn't use it to knead dough. I now have a food processor I could try for that.

Nice job on the weight loss!! And my blender's an Oster 12-speed, and it's lasted me about 2 years (knocks on wood now), and this is with my constant smoothie-making.
I kill blenders, too. Last time I had to BUY one, I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and told them "I need a blender that will last through at least once or twice a day use. They sold me a Krups...said it was the best one they had. I asked them what happens if it blows up and dies. Bring it back, they said. How long do I have, I ask. Forever, they said. What happens if the 2nd one blows up and dies. Bring it back, they said. So, I bought it. I love it. Really love it. I'm now on my third one. I just take it back and get a brand new one ever times it dies (ever 9 months or so). I keep the box and the receipt and I am good to go!
