If any of you crazy people on Twitter care, our team's twitter feed is brbnswampcrash and we'll be updating it throughout the race with times/splits/etc
I may update my racin' today feed as well. Who knows. Depends if I think the webcam girls that follow me care much.
Probably a light workout and/or run tomorrow. Or maybe not. Who knows.
I leave Thursday in the AM. With the way this place is rolling lately, I figure I'll miss about four posts while I'm gone.

More detail later, but we finished 200 miles in 30 hours and 55 minutes. I was under 10 per mile for my last two legs (each 5.1 per) but not my first leg which had the steepest climb I've ever run on for the first 1.5 miles.
And last night was an experience too. We won't be talking about that.

Yay! You seem really good at the endurance things. I would have died trying to do that.
I am not ready to die yet, so I will live it vicariously through your short (yet fact-filled) post.
It was a whole hell of a lot of fun.
I didn't know four of the people in my van (I knew the driver and one other runner) so I didn't really know what to expect. But we ended up getting along INCREDIBLY well, and I honestly don't know if I could have had better van mates. Well, maybe supermodels.
Everyone was really easygoing and awesome to get along with and, yeah, we got really lucky that we got along so well.
And apparently my alcohol tolerance is much more affected after I've run 15 miles. I had five drinks at the after party and boy, I was a happy camper. Too happy, in fact. I was slobbering game over one of the girls that was in our van (to be fair, she's very cute, funny and smart, so...) and yeah, it was disastrous.
Oh, picture time.

I can't believe I've only NOW spotted this thread. What in tarnation???
Now I have to catch up, since it appears that ninja is some kind of (potential) endurance junkie like me. Go ninja!!!

so many errors in that line, so little time. But pretty funny if you read it as written.
I leave for a weekend and my sig gets screwed with once again. I'm hoping that eventually that person will run out of coherent vowel replacements.

I honestly had no idea what to expect. Part of me wondered if I was going to be able to finish, as I probably counted on my youth to help me recover quickly.
The standard operating procedure is to train for a half marathon because that's roughly what you're going to cover over the course of the race. Yeah, I only went six miles a few times, and my taper consisted of no running and beer.
But honestly, I survived much better than I thought I would. I wasn't very sore at all (still am not) and I think that the stick had something to do with that. (I made sure to pack it) Outside of some residual soreness in my knees and hips, that's basically it.
I'm tired as hell--only 2.5 hours of sleep during the race along with a couple of van catnaps--but I can sleep today on the plane and I've got two days off before I go back to work.
Our team is talking about doing the Vegas relay next year, and that would be an absolute blast. I don't think I'm ever going to pass up an opportunity like this again by choice. It's hard to explain, and hard to fathom why it's so fun, but it is. I had really no expectations, but it was beyond my wildest dreams how fun it would be.
(and did the picture go away?)

You get 12 runners and two drivers and divide into two vans. (a driver and six runners in each van)
van one takes legs 1-6, 13-18 and 25-30, while van two takes the others.
Everyone runs three legs (15-18 miles, mine was the "fourth hardest" probably because of the hills on leg one) and you go crash at a hotel or somewhere when the other van is on the course.
Each runner is 1-6 in the van, and when runner one goes, you leave after that person, pass them on the route (and scream at them) and go to the exchange point where you chill, let runner two warm up and wait for runner one. Runner one hands the bracelet to runner two and runner two cools down and you repeat the process until you hand off to the other van.

Honestly mate, I've never been into running but this sounds like an absolute blast. Good stuff and glad you enjoyed it.

*subscribe* Love the idea of the Bourbon Chase, have never gotten to Kentucky to do it. Relays and trail races are about as much fun as can be had when running.

It was the first one, so you'll hopefully have many more opportunities. It was really well organized for being a first year event.

I was raised in Kentucky, and I can tell you that you didn't see runners on the road that often. Little did I know, they were being flown in!
Our team was represented by seven states, but it did seem like a fair amount of teams were locals.

Neutral Grip Pulldowns
3x10 @ 170
I leaned back a bit to try to make this like a row, but I don't exactly know what to call it.
This was purposely a quick workout. I'll have some sort of "plan" after tonight. Since my afternoon and evening plans have fallen through, I'll probably spend the evening reading with football on the TV.

Alright bitches, I'm going to do a four day split with glute training on two other days from this article.
I haven't done an upper/lower split in quite some time, so it's a good changeup. I figure the higher volume will maybe help me get bigger and stronger, and that's what I need to focus on right now. I need to just go in and move heavy shit for a while and see what happens. I've been lifting for who knows how long without actually putting 100% effort to that goal.
Monday October 19
Mobility/glute activation exercises
Single Leg Deadlifts
3x5 @ 45 (EH)
Split Squats
2x10 @ 35 (EH)
Single Leg Swiss Ball Curls
2x10
Planks
3x40 seconds
I'm tired. And yes, I did leg exercises two days in a row. I'm overtraining!!!!

Good workout. My butt is sore from yesterday and all of the glute work (Or maybe it was because of the...) Probably going to take tomorrow off because I have to work and do some yardwork while the weather is still nice.
Speaking of yardwork, our lawn tractor got stolen FROM THE REPAIR SHOP! It's a piece of dog poop five year old basic John Deere tractor that apparently someone wanted so badly that they hopped the fence at the repair shop and swiped it in the middle of the night. The best part is that they didn't tell us until my pops went into the shop yesterday to check on the status of the repair. They get the claim check, get the supervisor from the back and he's like "Yeah... your tractor got stolen..."
Awesome.
Oh, there was an older lady (70s probably) who was a tad on the heavy side doing random exercises in the gym today and after I did the reverse pushups, she was apparently tempted to try them herself. She kept her butt on the ground and it ended up looking like a modified situp as she pulled her face to the bar. I was trying not to look and laugh, but it was almost impossible not to.
