It ALWAYS works to help me get to sleep, but the staying asleep is difficult when it hurts no matter which side you're laying on. Lots of tossing and turning leads to a very tired mama in the morning. But a combo of It and two Ambien is a beautiful beautiful thing!
Last week's vacation was LOTS of activity: walking up and down a very steep incline to and from the lake and to and from the van at the top of the driveway.
This week we've started off well, too. A visit to the YMCA gym before we hit the pool.
a mile on the treadmill
a set of clam shells-10e side
a set of bird dogs - 10 total
pigeon stretch - long hold each side
some light DB work:
neutral grip shoulder press (2x10x12.5e)
bicep curl (2x10x12.5e)
bent over row (2x10x12.5)
Tomorrow I go for my 30/31 (I'll be 31 weeks on Wednesday) week check up. Hopefully, they'll let me go another 3 weeks before I have to come in again (normally at this point they want you in every 2 weeks).
I took my BP at my mom's house last night, and it was within the range that they've been getting in the office, so I was encouraged by that. But I'm feeling a bit discouraged by the swelling in my feet. It's not just pudgy toes anymore, it's my foot is too big for my sandals to fit over and if you poked my foot with a pin the skin seems like it'd split for a mile. I'm trying to drink lots and lots of water and take at least 10 minutes every couple of hours to lay on my left side, sometimes I do better than others.
You poor, poor thing. I had my kids in the fall too so was also very large and swollen in the summer. For my first I lived in San Angelo Tx. It was soooooo hot. At least not humid. It was humid in Maryland where I had my second. It sucks to be preggers in the summer.... it sucks to be preggers actually. I know some womin love it but not me. I like the baby part though... That's fun...

Hi RedWifey! Just stumbled onto you here, thought I'd say hi, and add: I LOVED, LOVED being pregnant! It was the best feeling to have that little guy rolling around and punching me from inside! Even though I fought morning sickness (all day) for the whole term of pregnancy with BOTH my boys, I still loved every minute of it! I even loved giving birth with my midwife, it was fuuuuun! Congrats!

Ugh. I was a giant water balloon with all three, but most with Helena, who was born in late September. We had no air conditioning at the time and it was horrible, horrible, so hot and I had two little boys to take care of. I did lie in the kiddie pool a lot.
You have my sympathies. But Luke will make it all worthwhile.

It was almost comical last week in Osage Beach, MO where we had our vacation. The week previous to our arrival it was BEAUTIFUL: highs in the mid 80's. This week it's back to the mid 80's. But LAST week, we had a heat index of 103+ everyday! The lake was so warm by Friday that it was like bath water. Yuk!
Also traveling as far as we did (we left at 11:15 am and arrived in Houston at 1:30 AM Sunday morning) didn't help my swelling in the least. The nurse asked me today, "You stopped every hour to walk, didn't you?" Ummmm, NO!!! Otherwise, we'd STILL be on the road trying to get home!

Thanks! You know I really am thankful for whatever that hormone/chemical is that our body produces to make us forget the dramatic experience we've just endured!
I love love love the benefits of being preggo. The good hair, good nails, glowy skin. And I totally dig the power of giving birth naturally, the way I want to do. But I may be coming to the realization that I can't/won't want to do this well into my forties, so we may be done after this. Eventually, I'll have to find something else to do and love and nurture and use my mama instincts on, so at least I'm beginning to prep my self for that day in the future. Just don't tell RL I said this because I totally reserve the right to change my mind!

NO A/C?????? Just shoot me now!!! I'm pretty sure that's grounds for divorce! And just so you know, my list of reasonable grounds for divorce is fairly small!!!
Thanks for the sympathy girls!! It really does help to know that others have endured far worse than I'm going through and survived!
Appointment was good today, except for the waiting, but I won't EVEN go there. BP still good. Weight gain was acceptable. I even got them to let me go an extra week. So, my next appt is July 21.
Only interesting thing is that my iron is borderline low. So, I'll be taking an iron supplement 3 times a week.

Um, you do know that he frequents this forum, don't you?
Sorry about the heat and swelling...I definitely feel for ya also.
I have to say that while I LOVE my children and can't imagine life without them, I did NOT love being knocked up. I wanted to love it... I wanted to glow and have an adorable bump, etc etc... instead I puked 24/7 and grew so round everywhere (and I started off overly round ) that my stomach took til around the 8th month to outgrow my ginormous pregnancy-enhanced boobs... ugh... which didn't matter cuz I spent too much time in the hospital on IV fluids (due to the puking) for anyone to see me out and about. Bleh.
Um, you do know that he frequents this forum, don't you?
Well I don't exactly frequent it all that frequently these days, but I catch things now and then. I could sense there were ginormous boobies being talked about, so I dropped in.

It truly is:
1) No A/C
2) Moving in with my parents
3) Surprise buttsex
Although the difference between #2 and #3 is debatable -- they're both painful and could result in years of therapy.

Thank you, Michael, clarifying my list! And to Aoife for the funny comic!
LOOOTS of activity yesterday:
DL renewed.
Jack's monster truck fixed and unloaded from the van.
Van reassembled.
More closet cleaning.
Paint chips picked out.
Dogs walked.
We're swimming today with friends, so it should be a fun day. Also working on laundry and prepping their rooms for painting. This should be fun!! Yeah for a three day weekend for Michael!
The past two days my husband, my parents and I have completely emptied two children's rooms (including their closets and shelves) and painted two rooms AND today I cleaned the carpet in their rooms. In a week or so, Luke is free to arrive (after we get the big kids their bunk beds and get his crib out of the attic).
Mama is TIRED and HURTING...now if I could just make it another hour or so, we'll have their rooms reassembled.
Ohhhh, mama! You are a better woman than I! (Well, actually I always ended up working long hours doing some kind of housecleaning, remodeling, etc.) BUT, then I always ended up with a BABY that night! So here's hoping we don't get a baby announcement quite yet!
yeah, if we could stave off the baby announcement for a while, that'd be GREAT!
More activity today:
Church in the AM (this ALWAYS wears me out) Terracotta Warriors in the afternoon
Finishing the upstairs carpet cleaning
Cleaning baseboards
Putting our room back together
Eating AirHeads...not sure why they taste so good right now?
You guys are sweet! Thanks for thinking of me! Mama is tired today. Nap has been taken now I'm drinking my 1/2 caf coffee. Hoping to get sweet Luke's crib down from the attic today!
Had my 34 week appointment today (technically I turn 34 weeks tomorrow). BP was 130/72. I thought it was high and was concerned; Midwife said we're concerned about the bottom number and it's been perfectly steady for months...Good news!
No weight gain in the past four weeks! Yeah! Measurements were perfect, baby boy's head is down. Yeah!
We discussed hurricanes, just because I'm running through all different kinds of scenarios in my head. Also, I'm a bit concerned about labor and delivery and the care of the children and getting myself to the hospital. Surely it will work out, but I'd prefer for it to go in a way that I can manage and control. I like control. But since I can't control every detail, I'm going to try to control my anxiety...wish me luck.
Today I'm tired. But I need to get to the grocery before I get the kids from Zoo Camp. So, I'm off to the races.
Sorry it's taken so long to respond. I seem to be working steadily around the house and getting some things done. Here are the things I'm hoping to accomplish, in no particular order:
Finish washing up Luke's hand-me-downs.
Buy school supplies/uniforms/backpacks/lu nch boxes, etc bought in the next two weeks.
Finish decorating big kids room and get the unused stuff up in the attic
Make the "over the bedside organizer" that I'm devising for the big kids
Decorate Luke's room...need to head to Hobby Lobby to buy the frames that I'm going to paint
Switch out curtains in the big kids rooms
Finish night-time-potty-training Jack
Finish decorating Michael's office
Fix the squeaky floors upstairs
All of this on top of the regular stuff: drinking water (a MUST in this crazy heat), resting, cooking and cleaning, laundry (which has increased quite a bit since the night time potty training effort we're in) and throwing in some fun things for the big kids.
Physically, I'm feeling really great as long as I can keep the puffiness down. Yesterday morning I was so swollen from the heat and humidity outside that I had shoe marks from my vibrams!!! I've had to take my wedding rings off because my hands respond last to the whole drinking water and resting trick. It was amazing to see how fast my feet went down yesterday and how MUCH I was peeing!
Awww, just checking in on you! You are getting close to the big day! And I admire you and your "no weight gain". I was out of control back when I was preggo with both my kids and it made things so much tougher.
You got lots of (nesting) projects going on! Go you!

Wow, you are really accomplishing a lot there! I sympathize with knowing you have a deadline before your life gets crazier than ever. Good job taking care of your family and yourself.
Buy school supplies/uniforms/backpacks/lu nch boxes, etc bought in the next two weeks.--waiting for next week
Finish decorating big kids room and get the unused stuff up in the attic DONE
Make the "over the bedside organizer" that I'm devising for the big kids--waiting for next week
Decorate Luke's room...need to head to Hobby Lobby to buy the frames that I'm going to paint -- Frustrated because I'm just not finding any frames I like and am unwilling to pay $45 per frame to get what would be beautiful
Switch out curtains in the big kids rooms--ordered and coming
Finish night-time-potty-training Jack -- upped the ante tonight; he's on rubber sheets only (I figure this way, he'll be sloshing in pee and maybe wake up?????) and I bought and showed him his rewards for completing a sticker chart; I think he was motivated by his rewards
Finish decorating Michael's office DONE
Fix the squeaky floors upstairs Attempted but failed to successfully stop the squeak...DONE
Went to the midwives this morning, and was in and out in 25 minutes! Yeah. No news to report, other than she doesn't think I'm going to have a big baby. Hmmm, how come I don't believe her? I just politely nodded my head and told her that the size of the baby didn't intimidate me, I was pretty sure I could handle whatever needed to be done. She seemed surprised, but whatever. I can only tell my story so many times and if she doesn't listen/believe me then whatevah, I'll just ask for one of the midwives I know better.
Our hot water heater is now not staying lit and is unfixable by my handyman father and apprentice husband. Bummer.
I have this and this in a cream mat, and they look pretty good in a distressed wooden (with a smidgen of white/cream, since it's going in the "nursery") frame but I just can't find anything. The frame would need to be an 8x10.
The $45 frame was a custom frame...but the artwork itself were only 8.99 each from Hobby Lobby.
ETA: I hope that answers your question, I can hardly type for yawning...it's way past my bedtime!
FAST update:
Today I'm 37 and 6 (weeks and days). I've now officially switched to weekly appointments. And I have strep B for the first time during pregnancy. Not a terribly big deal, but they like for positive mothers to have two doses of IV antibiotics during labor...separated by 4 hours. Hmmm, that could be a problem. I have a really cool pediatrician though and we discussed what his protocol would be after delivery and if I don't get 2 doses in they'll probably do a blood culture on Luke and we'll just keep an eye on him at home and have an office visit (could be as dangerous as the strep B--ha!) within 24-48 hours. I will say that although it's probably not a big deal, strep B can have HYUGE life impactful consequences for babies (even full term babies), so we'll definitely have a "healthy respect" for this bacteria.
