A bit of a wake up call from the crappy year I have had from a strength training point of view. While there have been a variety of pretty good reasons that I have slowly slipped of the training wheel, it is time to get with it.
This week and next week will be a "tune up" and I will do a variety of fun exercises to get back in the swing of things while I decide on a program. (Part of the reason is I inured my foot which takes deads and squats out for at least until the end of this week).
THough I will not be doing anything too exciting in the gym, I wanted to get back to posting in this part of the forum.
Night:
Weight: 67.2
BF: 21.8% (tanita scale)
Superset 1
Bench 3 x 6
Shrug 3 x 19
Superset 2
DB press 3 x 8
DB Row 3 x 8
Superset 3
Romanian Deadlift 3 x8
Swissball crunch 3 x 15
Nothing serious - just something to remind me of what the gym looks like.
cheers
Peter

Warm up/ stretching, basic kicks/punch (kihon), worked on throws. The warm up and stretching were a bit rouch as the stretches end up with some really touch yoga type stretches and then some nasty types of sit ups/leg raises/with punches thrown in.
The basic practice was done at very fast pace so had a good sweat going even though the room was about 5 deg (40 F or so.) feet cold - good session.

Thursday last week; two shorinji kempo sessions, kids class/then adults class. The kids class is heavily weighted towards "keeping warm activities" (while we are in the temporary dojo). So lots of kicks/punches, foot work. I 'taught' a group of yellow/whites for about 30 min. (It is a bit weird for me as I do not really see myself as a teacher- given the huge gap in abilities between me and REAL teachers). But anyway, it was fun.
Then, the adults class- so about 3 hours of shorinji kempo.

Friday- had intended to do some weight training, but a friend we haven't seen in about 2 years came by. so it was wine instead of weights.
Saturday- afternoon of tag and obstacle course with 4 boys (2 sons two nephews, 10, 7, 5, 4): so I had my hands full- lots of sprints - but good fun. Shorinji Kempoi practice. kids and adults class-

Monday- had intended to do some weight training, but a friend from Russia- came on no notice for two days - so we went out until 3;00am
Tuesday, my sons school was off so I took a holiday and took my kids to an "open playland". Play a flat rate and jump on the giant inflatables, mini-putt, viddy games, trampolines, etc- LONG day! Had an early dinner - went home -power nap- off to shorinji kempo - I could hardly keep my eyes open driving there. After the warm up I spent most of my time working on distancing and foot work with a person who will test for brown belt soon. SO it was not much of a work out. Did a bit of contact embu- with another black belt- but in total not much of a work.
Then another shoot the bull session with beer with my russian friend until 3;oo am,
up at 9;00 am (national holiday) to tale him to the train station- the took my youngest out for the afternoon (eldest has a test today- had to study) and visited relatives- went home died- went to bed early - around 10pm.
All in all a poor week for fitness, the only good news is that this morning (thursday I was 67.8kg at 19.2 5BF- so no gain in blubber.

Just got back from another SK workout- light one as it was a kids class- though included 50 BW squats
Nothing light about 50 BW squats, especially if it's part of other work. I'm working my way toward 500--my current tested max is 60 reps. It makes you contemplate certain things in life.

Thanks Ben, but we quite routinely do that (and if I go to the kids and adults class I will get hit at times with 100 or more). 500! that seems like a painful goal- LOL - good luck
