I was just reading an article in body + soul this morning about what motivates different people and how to get around things when they are "stuck". If they ever get our copy/fax/e-mail machine fixed, I'll send the article to you if you'd like.

Along those lines, TED.com's blog mentioned a book coming out called The Element that might be worth a look, and coming from me, that's something.

Yeah, that book was released a whole six hours after I'd just finished placing an Amazon order that qualified for free shipping. Bastids.

Paula, bring it, por favor.

And Karla, I have no problem with boobies following me around. Sometimes I even let 'em catch me.

I'd be interested in that. Can you post a link, perhaps to a pdf? Can docs we made available through the forum here? Uploaded? Or on a local server. Otherwise, email me a copy/pdf and I can put it up at a private link with the doc for download on my site.

My daughter was just yesterday telling me how she and some friends at school were laughing about how boobs and eyes are very similar and even both have pupils (there was a whole bunch of other analysis and comparison that was going on, apparently). I told her that will be my new excuse for locking my eyes on a woman's bosom: "I can't help it; they're starting at me."

Thanks, Clove. Yeah, they pretty much look like the things that chased me in high school. Thankfully I got luckier in college!

Not bad. 2 pages in and already a nice twist. Although talking boobies with my daughter sounds like it could get weird.

You're daughter's not a high school student. I'm glad she's so willing to talk with me about stuff, serious, funny, weird, and otherwise.

Thanks, Paula!

So today was not my best day. This is one of my struggles -- putting two big days in a row together on high office productivity. A little frustrating, since Thursdays are my late night at the office. I generally stay until 6 or after to get caught up or ahead on things, and have some quiet time with few interruptions.

It was still a pretty good day overall, just not quite what I was hoping since I stayed late.

But I still did some "one thing" stuff, including a total deletion of all funny pics and videos on my hard drive. That may sound crazy or random, but it's like Aoife cleaning her house. I had files and crap I was never gonna use and they were just clogging up my computer and my mind.

In other news, I hit day 21 of the Complaint-Free World experiment. I started this around Dec. 10 and kept screwing up and starting over. Finally I made it all the way to 21 days. By no longer giving a voice to my complaints, it's helped me to even think fewer complaints. Pretty cool.

I had it in my plan to steal a short workout at the company gym today, and I went in there four times to get it done, but every time someone was already in there. Oh well, I got a big workout ready for tomorrow afternoon at the Y.

Later dudes.

I have found that BIG PRODUCTIVE DAYS (tm) are a lot like workouts. You can only have one or 2 in a row before there's the rest day. I think it's necessary, actually.
It's mental time to reflect on the stuff done and prepare for what needs doing. A filing and sorting mentally, brainstorming, and other musings, in order to prime the pump.

In similar copycat news, Aoife had just started today clearing out a lot of shit off of her laptop, so that there was less clutter, and then (in theory) she'd be able to find the things she actually cared about having around. TheAoife may begin to look at pressing charges for all this copycat-hood… but she'll prolly won't look at that for at least another year.

Michael, I will continue to enjoy reading of this spiritual journey of yours, since that is what we are observing here, of course.

Interesting. All this talk of boobies hasn't attracted gobbla yet. And now I know why you're staying out of CE.

I wish you well in this endeavor, Michael.

That sounds perfectly logical and true. Probably why I never thought of it.

Thanks dude. Whether it's a roller coaster, train wreck, or rocket launch, at least I know I'm not just sitting still!

Thanks, Bob. And hayell no, CE comments are not currently on my list of "one thing" to accomplish.

As a sidenote, last night was the first time ever I played piano for pure enjoyment and relaxation. I'm still not very skilled or anything, but I can at least play a few things and just immerse myself in the sounds I'm creating. RW got me some new headphones for Christmas and that helped too, because the sound was more intense (and she didn't have to endure it!).

I just presented a ton of stuff to our executive team and rocked it. We'll see how much more I get done today, as I'm already looking forward to my date night with RW. We're going to this exhibit.

It really was cool -- we enjoyed the exhibit last night.

I also did my Friday bodybuilding-style workout at the YMCA:

Prehab
Split squats
Pullups
DB military press
Seated rows
Decline skullcrushers
BB curls
Chest fly
Walking lunges with side-twist (holding 25 lb. plate)

I really wanted to do some cable pullthroughs but there was a Y trainer there doing his own workout with a friend. They were on the cable for at least 20 minutes. It's still OK -- I think I caused plenty of tissue microtrauma before the always-hypercaloric weekend.

Did some weed pulling today. I know it's January, but that's what we do in Houston!

The irony is that I'm actually a leg/butt man. Go figure.

Today was my closed-chain day:

Prehab
T-pushups
Inverted rows
1-leg DL
GHR
GHR situps
Cable PNF

I'm all outta acronyms.
