For me, what's right? Leigh Peele. The Fat Loss Troubleshooter and Leigh's work with me have been instrumental in helping me get to where I am now. Down 25ish pounds. With only 15-20 to go.
I am doing what's right. (In other words, fat loss is not an opinion.)
I'm doing it the right way (for me).
And there is no time like the present.
I decided to start a new log. Not that I'm not still focused on my health, because I am. But now that my health is on the right track, and I know the right things to do for it, it seemed a good time to start a new log with a new focus.
My plan.
1. I'll be cycling calories and carbs in a program Leigh set up for me that seems to be working well. Why change something that ain't broke?! I probably won't post many details here outside of just some general statistics here and there. If you want more detail, just ask.
2. I'll be logging some workouts ... not a huge number ... mostly yoga and treadmill work. But probably 2 resistance workouts per week. I'll be honest ... they are light stuff ... just to keep me from dropping too much muscle while I'm shedding the last of this fat. No PRs for me just yet!! (We'll see what post-fat loss looks like for me!)
3. I'll be setting some specific measureable goals over the next few days/week. I'll post them here and you all can help keep me accountable.
4. I have an accountability partner. She and I will be trading stats and she will kick my ass if I am slacking. One thing I found lacking after I stopped working with Leigh was that accountability factor. It seems that I don't care if I let myself down because, damn, I want that *insert food item here* NOW!! My accountability partner will not let me get away with that crap, just like Leigh didn't.
So that's it.
Comment away ...

Hi chicka. Have you noticed anything here that has you concerned or is this just a prevention goal. I ask because this is kind of where I am now (last 5 months or so), and I haven't noticed anything muscle-wise that would cause me concern.
I'm going to be cheering you on too.

Thanks guys ... I really screwed up last night ... I was slicing red cabbage for my salad with left-over tuna steaks, and ended up slicing my finger ... pretty deeply. Off to the ER, three stitches, a big bandage, keep it dry for 10 days and then the stitches can come out. Bah. Hurts pretty good too.

Ouch - hopefully you'll get better soon. Closest call for me for something like that was slicing something on the mandoline, which included myself.

Hi Julie, believe me I can relate totally. I was surprised how much impact cutting a finger can have.
At least you're not my middle school shop teacher who didn't have a finger (which he didn't lose in shop, but would say he did in the safety speech). We did always joke it'd be hilarious if the home-ec teacher had the same thing, giving warnings on using sharp knives.

whoa - my high school auto shop teacher was missing a digit (or most of one) as well - we heard the story in the enging-running-fan-belt safety speech - your shop teacher wasn't named Hassenplug was he?
Sorry to hear about your finger. Hope it heals quickly.
I saw in someones log that you are missing donuts. Have you tried these by Kinnikinnick? My son LOVES them! They may not fit into your weight loss plan but maybe for an occasional treat?

I thought all middle/high school shop teachers were missing at least a part of at least one digit. I like thought it was a requirement for the position.
I did a number on my thumb with the table saw, the tip only, but nicked a bone. It amazed me how out of commission I felt. Anyway, sympathy and a quick recovery.
ps - recovered wel, thumb nail looks good. it still tingles
pps - Sci. Amer. had an article on amphibians regrowing parts, and said that the only part humans seem to regrow is finger tips. Interesting.

When my daughter was a baby the tip of her finger turned black and necrotic. She was still in the hospital (she was a preemie) so they called in a plastic surgeon to see her. He said because she was a preemie it would basically die, fall off, and then grow back. It really did. You can kind of tell but only if you know what you're looking for.
I'll be cheering for you. On the health thing, not the cutting thing. I'd advise against future cutting incidents, as digits are useful for manipulating objects and extracting boogies.
