Okay, so I say the doc yesterday and he didn't seem to worried -- even though I had the same muscle symptoms last month. He figures its just a virus. He did give me a Z-pack and said tylenol should help with the muscle aches.
So I will just give it a few more days and wait it out. You know what they say -- a virus usually goes away in a week if you don't see the doc -- 7 days if you do see him.
Blah....

Well, I feel better, and I think the virus is gone. It's been more thatn a week, and I finished the Z-pack.
Unfortunately the mucle thing is still happening. It *seems* to be related to temperature? When I am cold, the achiness is lots worse. I know one of my cholesterol meds can cause muscle aches, but I've been taking it for more than 2 years, so I can't figure if/why it would start bothering me now...
Another doctor's appt for tomorrow to tell him it hasn't gone away and see if he wants me to stop taking my meds for a bit to see if that helps. or do bloodwork, or something.

I forgot to alternate the Bench Press and Bent Over Rows, so they were straight sets. I also think maybe I went too light to start out.
Bench Press 6x45, 1x65, 6x55, 1x70, 12x50
Bent Over Row 6x85, 1x100, 6x90, 1x105, 11x75
Alternate
Pull-Overs, 1x8x45, 1x5x45
DB Shoulder Press 1x7x20e, 1x6x20e
Lower Body Russian Twist 2x10xBW
Complex - 40 lbs. Change it up a little, DL, RDL, BOR, Clean, Front Squat, PP, Zercher GMs. No back squats, and with the Zercher GMs you hold the bar in front of your chest. 6 each then rest, 5 then rest... and so on down to 1 each.

Saw the doctor today and he decided I should stop the cholesterol meds for a week or two and see if the muscle pain resolves itself. He offered to do blood work, but said it would be easier to see if stopping the Lipitor would work first. If not, then blood work, and if so, then switch meds.

That's interesting that he thinks it might be the Lipitor. My mother is on it and having neck pain (which they can't find another reason for - MRI scheduled sometime in the next little while). I do hope that's the issue.

Well googling it (and other statins) indicates that it can cause muscle pain and weakness. There are a lot of horror stories about it out there, but I think that can be said about most medications.
The strange thing to me is that I've been taking it for 2.5 years. I started out at 20 mg which is a pretty low dose, and last year I started (with doctor's approval) taking 1/2 a pill -- so only 10 mg.
I hope your mom gets to feeling better. The majority of my pain has been glutes/thighs, but shoulders, upper arms and calves have also been achey. I haven't had any neck involvement.

Well, this is day 3 of no cholesterol meds, and I swear the aching is actually worse. I want to work out, but with my legs aching like this I just can't face the idea of Strength 3 with waveloading deadlifts. I also can't stand the thought of playing on the Wii.
Walking down a flight of stairs right now is enough to make my legs feel like I just ran for an hour.
Ugh.

Front squats -- 1x6x70, 1x1x80, 6x6x75, 1x6x85, 1x12x55, 1x15x50
Superset for 2 sets, but had to rest between last set
BSS -- 3x15ex5e
Step-ups -- 3x15exBW -- floor to bench, not using step
Alternate
Back Extensions 2x10x15
SWB crunches (holding plate outstretched) 2x10x10
Cosgrove complex (modified)-- Used 45 lbs this time and back at 90 second rests, didn't finish because when setting down the bar on the next to last set, I felt a zing from wrist to elbow. It doesn't hurt, just feels like a irritated nerver -- sort of like funny bone.
I have to figure out how to load the bar for fronst squats, because for these "1-rep max" I'm having trouble "cleaning" the bar up to my shoulders.
Also, I'm going to start using red again, but just for the 1-rep maxes. I can't keep track otherwise.

I've come to the conclusion that once you start doing low rep stuff it becomes almost impossible to track PRs (or maybe I need to get more organized). I can never decide if it's a PR if I lift a certain weight 10 times, 3 or 4 times, or 1 time. Obviously all are bettering what I've done before, but except for the 1 rep I've usually used more.
I swear, I'm such a bloody hypochondriac. I haven't worked out because (Pick one):
1. I've been backed up digestively for days -- laxatives have given some relief, but honestly I just feel yucky, bloated, and my back is hurting from it.
2. My neck has been killing me. No idea why, but I did get the foam roller out last night and spent twenty minutes working out some knots.
3. Everybody at work has been sick, and I keep thinking I'm coming down with it. Sneezing, one day, sniffly, and then I think "nah... it's just allergies and laziness".
4. Since yesterday I've had a number of "Icepick headaches" at least that seems to be what they are called. Sudden, intense headaches that only last for 15-30 seconds. 2-3 yesterday and 4-5 this morning already. Never had them before that I can recall, and they leave me feeling sort of "off" for a while.
I hate this and the scale is being very unkind. Probably because of the digestive issues. I even had a Heath Blizzard (ice cream!!) on Sunday, because the lactose usually gets things moving, but no luck there.

Sometimes your body is trying to tell you something. Sometimes you're just trying to make excuses. It really can be almost impossible to tell the difference at times. It doesn't matter what you decide, but pick one and run with it. (ie. decide to rest and pamper yourself for a couple of days or... go work out!)
With so many people sick at work, I've been more inclined to "play safe" by resting, plus DH has not been helping. (So kind of him to let me blame my laziness on him :P ) He hasn't been working out, and had a root canal done earlier this week.
Add to that the weather here has been dreary, rainy, and cold. Really drains me of all motivation. I don't know why, I work out inside, so the weather outside *shouldn't* make any difference.
Bah! I've basically given it up for this week.
Good news is, my son has left town for a few days, and left DH and I all alone in the house. So, maybe I can get some non-formal exercise this weekend... lol.

I was tempted to go ahead and try 165, but after not having lifted for more than a week, I didn't want to go overboard. Next time should be official -- hopefully the weight will be down, and either way the plan is to go for 165 DL next time I get around to this workout.
I'm trying get down to 150 by January 1. It will be hard with the holidays, but it's a goal.

Why you ask? Nasty cold/virus. I've spent most of the last week curled up on the couch with a blanket and kleenex. Nyquil comas are nice. Not the flu though, no fever at all. Although I did wake up from my nap yesterday with the back of my shirt and pillow soaked with sweat.... so maybe I was running a fever then?
First day back at work, and I may not make it through the day.
Hope to be back at it soon. No one can ever say I don't get enough rest though.

Yuck on the cold. Sometimes it's nice to just get plenty of rest. Sadly we rarely take a down day until the body insists. Sounds like you're feeling better though, so that's good.
Well the cold is gone. And yesterday I actually got some activity in. I played on the Wii for about 30-45 minutes. Nothing strenuous, barely worked up a sweat. Just something to get up and get moving again.
I'm planning on doing an actual workout tonight. And I will. I'm just annoyed that I woke up 2 hours earlier than normal this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Maybe a workout will help me sleep better tonight.
I'm starting to get curious about "hot flashes". I've noticed over the last year or so, that I often wake up hot. Hot enough to kick off all the covers for a while and it makes it hard to get back to sleep sometimes. Thing is, it seems to be related to my workouts, in that it seems to happen the night after a good workout. Not so much after days I have not worked out. I was thinking maybe it had something to do with increased metabolism.
But it could be (peri-)menopause I guess. Hard for me to be sure, as I had a partial hysterectomy a few years back. No periods, but I still have the hormones. I'm just curious to know if that's what it is.

Okay, so I did not work out yesterday, but it was because I realized that today was a federal holiday and with the day off, I could get a good workout today along with doing some housework.
So --- I did. But since my routine has been so messed up, and my workouts have been so few and far between, I went back and started on Fat Loss II.
Today: NROL Fat Loss II A1
A1: Front Squat -- 3x12x55
A2: BO Row -- 1x12x75, 2x12x65
B1: Supine Hip Extension -- 3x12xBW
B2: BB Push-Press -- 3x12x45 (these were tough -- barely got the last couple)
It really felt good, and wasn't too much of a chore since DH had to work. I also took a nice little nap that afternoon. YAY! I love naps!
I also managed to get in some Wii time yesterday. About 45 minutes of Fitness Coach cardio type stuff. HRM said ~400 cals burned and I'm pleasantly sore today.
Looking forward with some trepidation to Workout B and the infamous Bulgarian Split Squats with Overhead Press.

Played on the Wii for an hour. Cardio mainly, but that stuff makes my calves sore. It does keep me moving and active though. HRM said I burned 490 kcals in just over an hour.
Did some foam rolling last night while watching TV. I'm a good girl!
DH has had a rough week. He's been hit so hard at work the last year or two, and then the other night he gets a call at ~2am saying they are having problems with the website. He got up and worked on it most of the night and then went to work the next day and coudln't even leave earliy due to meetings.
Good news though -- his (company wide) last year's salary cuts are being reinstated. So the 10% that has been missing from his checks for almost a year is going to be back!!! And they are giving them a 1/4 of what the reduction cost him last year back in a lump sum this January. Sort of like a bonus....
