Well, I may to have to have a fight with the two babies in my avatar. But I think they would take me.

Apparently while we were on vacation my son did not keep their litter box cleaned to their satisfaction. Or maybe they were just unhappy at being abandoned. Whatever the reason they have decided that it's okay to piss on my bed. I had hoped it was just a 1-time thing, but after washing the sheets (using oxyclean and a long soak to get the stink out) the smell is back.

The good thing is that it's a waterbed, so no mattress to absorb the smell. I'm hoping if I go to the petstore and get some odor removers I can get the smell out of the comforter and sheets and if they no longer smell it they will stop.

Still no workouts. My tummy is still not 100% and I have not been sleeping well because of it. It's not bad, just still very tender and easily upset, so I've been keeping to a very simple diet -- low fat, non-spicy, and it's been helping.

oh wow - I never even noticed the 2nd cat in the dark until you said there were 2 there. Shows how observant I can be sometimes - now I can't look at it without seeing both of them.

Sorry about the bed clothes - before he got married, my BIL-to-be stayed with us for about a month and the cats decided his CLEAN laundry basket would be a fine box even though they were allowed outdoors for that sort of thing.

You don't know Ceiling Cat and Basement Cat when you see them?

Yep, they're sisters, but different as night and day... in looks and actions.

The white one, Skitz, is my lap baby and plays fetch with me and is very vocal. Her sister Delilah (Miss Dee) is quiet and shy but loves being brushed.

Got some stuff to wash the bed linens in, so hopefully we can stop this bad habit before it takes root.

Good luck at getting the smell out. We used to have a cat that would wait until we got in the door and do one single dump in the middle of the laundry room - just to say hello I guess.

Well the simple green sprayed on the areas, and then washing everything in venegar seems to have done the trick.... at least so far.

Look, a work out!

I purchased an oly bar and some weights and a new/used bench from my nephew. So I did some cleaning in the workout room, and got the new stuff in. And I did a workout too!

NROL Hypertrophy I-A1
Some modifications as I was still waiting for the bench and of course don't have a cable setup.

A1 SWB Incline DB Press -- 5x5x17..5
A2 Bent-Over Rows -- 1x5x65, 1x5x70, 3x5x75

B1 DB Shoulder Press -- 5x5x17.5
B2 2 Pt. DB Row -- 5x5ex25

C1 BB Push Press -- 5x5x45
C2 High PUll -- 5x5x45

SWB Crunches (arms extended overhead) -- 1x15xBW, 2x15x5

I went light with the weights today for several reasons. Not sure how hard it would be to finish 5x5, and also not wating to push to much after several weeks off. The rests seemed very long -- 90 seconds-- so I think I probably wasn't going heavy enough. Plus I got interrupted in the middle when the new bench arrived.

Today NROL HypI B1

A1 Goblet squats (tired of doing front squats) -- 1x10x35 3x10x45
A2 Deadlift Shrug -- 1x10x95 3x10x75

B1 BSS -- 2x10ex8e 2x10ex5e
B2 Step ups -- 4x10exBW

I did these by standing on the bench and squatting down without my non-working leg touching anything. Hard to keep my balance.

Reverse Crunches 3x15xBW

This was really tough. My HR was up the whole time even with the 60 second rests which I often stretched a bit.

I'm thinking of changing the name of my log -- to something like "Construction ahead -- Expect delays"

Took the grandkids to a Water Park this weekend and had an absolute blast. At least, until I went down one of the water slides with them. Apparently my lower back took exception to being twisted, and bounced around, and decided to go into spasms. So I've "thrown out" my back. Sometimes I wish I could do that literally

Something like this would be nice:
Excuse me? Could I please purchase a new back? One without these flattened and smooshed disks in it? I'll just toss the old one, or maybe donate it to science.

Went to the doc yesterday morning and got anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers and pain meds. They seem to be working well, but I'm out for 10 days or so anyway. Bah!!!

I think it was working. I used Simple Green and let the linens sit for a while so it could do it's work, and when I washed them I put in some vinegar and let them soak for a bit before the wash cycle.

No problems until we went out of town Saturday night. I'm guessing they just don't like it when we go away overnight. This must be their way of showing their displeasure with us.

Yuck, that doesn't sound particularly fun. Well, I suppose the weekend did, but not the pain meds and being out of action for the next little while. Take care of yourself.

Well, we have an old tarp we have been putting over the bed and that seems to have stopped the cats from using it as a litterbox. So good thing.

I hate not being able to work out. I enjoyed the time off in July, but now it's just irritating me. But I continue because the back is still feeling "tweaked". I'm still encouraging my DH, even though every time he gets on the bike, or does something part of my wants to whine at him to "Wait for me!!!".

Have something very weird going on this morning though.

The meds I'm taking are ones I've taken before, nothing new, plus I've been taking them for a week, so it's not likely to be them.

This morning I woke up and the backs of my buttocks, thighs and calves are feeling very achy. Obviously I havent' been doing anything so this is really weird.

It actually feels sort of like lactic acid build up in them, because it's sort of a diffuse burning pain and is constant regardless of movement or position.... and has been going on since I woke up 2 .5 hours ago.

I'm back at it. The back has been feeling good for about a week, but my neck has been bothering me a bit, so I took a little extra time.

Today NROL HypI B2

A1 Goblet squats -- 1x5x45 4x5x50
A2 Deadlift Shrug -- 2x5x95 3x5x105

B1 BSS -- 1x5ex5e 2x5ex8e 2x5ex10e
B2 Step ups -- 1x5exBW 2x5ex2.5e 2x5ex5e

Back Extensions 3x15x10
(Reverse crunches did not sound healthy for the back.)

Tough work out, and it took almost an hour with the 90 second rests. Feels good though.

Yep, but it feels good to be doing it!

I've decided to give myself some goals to reach by the end of the year as well. We had a birthday party for my granddaughter on Sunday, and looking over the pics I realized that I still really need to drop a few pounds, so I've decided I want to lose 10 by New Years. And I want to drop my body fat by about 5%. I'm 5"4" and 160 with bodyfat of about 28%, so I'm hoping this will be doable.

I'm trying to decide on some other goals like being able to do a real chin-up and someday I want to DL my body weight, but I'm not sure how fast I can get these accomplished. I don't want to set my self up for failure, but I'm going to try and get these accomplished by January. Hopefully losing the weight will help with those goals.

NROL Hypertrophy I-A3

A1 SWB Incline DB Press -- 4x10x20
Tuesday I spent 1:15 playing on the Wii

Today: A2 Bent-Over Rows -- 4x10x70

B2 2 Pt. DB Row -- 4x10ex25

C1 BB Push Press -- 4x10x40
C2 High Pull -- 4x10x55

Lower Body Russ. Twists 3x10exBW

Crunches still don't seem like a good idea.

Today NROL HypI B3

For some reason I got the set/reps mixed up so the first 2 are weird.

A1 Goblet squats 2x10x45, 2x15x40
A2 Deadlift Shrug -- 1x10x75, 2x15x80

B1 BSS -- 2x15ex5e, 1x15exBW
B2 Step ups -- 2x15exBW,1x10exBW

The short rests were killing me today. I ended up not doing the ab stuff at all because I was geelijg somewhat naseous at the end of the stepups.

Instead I think I'm going to take a 15-20 minute break and then work out on the Wii for 30 minutes.

Yesterday -- did 1 hour on the Wii

NROL Hypertrophy I-A4

A1 SWB Incline DB Press -- 3x5x20, 2x5x22.5
A2 Bent-Over Row 2x5x80, 3x5x85

B1 DB Shoulder Press -- 1x5x20, 4x5x22.5
B2 BB PullOvers 5x5x35 -- my shoulders still have problems with this...

C1 BB Push Press -- 5x5x50
C2 High Pull -- 5x5x60

D Back Extensions 3x15x10

90 seconds seems like forever... sometimes I only waited 60 seconds. The weights definitely seem heavy enough and I'm fighting to finish the reps.

Today NROL HypI B4

A1 Goblet squats 4x10x45
A2 Deadlift Shrug -- 2x10x85, 2x10x90

B1 BSS -- 2x10ex8e, 2x10ex5e
B2 Step ups -- 4x10ex5e

Reverse Crunches 3x15xBW

Not too bad today, I thought I should be able to go up on the squats... but I was barely able to finish each set with the 45 lb ones.

Also, IMHO, rests of 60 seconds almost always feel "right", 90 seconds seems so long usually and 30 seconds seems like I barely had time to breath.

What'd you on the Wii (or bowling) that hit your calves so hard?

Playing on the Wii for an hour doing a cardio session of My Fitness Coach. It ends up being like doing a DVD or some other aerobic type thing. It uses a step, and I do lots of jumping jacks, jogging in place, "hops" and at the end it mixes in some lunges (or yoga poses) and other things.

Basically it's a good aerobic type workout, and a way to stay active on my non-lifting days. But Friday's workout hit my calves hard -- or the bowling afterward hit them hard. After not bowling most of the summer, 3 games can make me a bit sore.

Did more Wii on Wednesday and then took yesterday off as it was just a wipeout day at work. Today has been as well -- in fact I'm writing this while waiting on some tests to be sure one of my systems is back up and running properly for the weekend. And with bowling tonight, I just may not have time for a workout, shower and then dinner beforehand.

Today, NROL Hyb I B5

A1 Goblet squats 2x5x55, 3x5x60
A2 Deadlift Shrug -- 1x5x105, 4x5x115

B1 BSS -- 5x5ex10e
B2 Step ups -- 5x5ex10e

Back Extensions 3x15x10

Today I tried something new. I did a "complex" I found on t-nation that is attributed ot Cosgrove. It looked more fun than intervals on the treadmill, and I thought it might be a nice way to get an extra burn at the end of a workout.

6 each DL, RDL, BO ROws, Cleans, Fr. Squats, Push-press, Back squat, GM.

rest 90, then 5 each, rest, 4 each, rest, 3 each, rest, 2 each, rest, then 1 each.

Yesterday, 1 hour Wii time.

Today -- NROL Hypertrophy I-A6

A1 SWB Incline DB Press -- 4x10x25
A2 Bent-Over Row 4x10x75

B1 DB Shoulder Press -- 1x10x17.5, 1x8x17.5, 2x10x15
B2 BB PullOvers 4x10x35

C1 BB Push Press -- 4x10x45
C2 High Pull -- 4x10x55

D Reverse Crunches 3x15xBW

Did the Complex again. Last time I used 25 pounds, this time 35. I've decided that I just can't do the back squats and good mornings.

Resting the bar in what seems to be the right place really hurts. And with the 2 bad discs in my neck I'm just not willing to risk doing it wrong. So I added a couple of front squats in place of them.

Well, in the past I haven't done back squats because I work out at home, and don't have a squat rack or a spotter. Plus, my shoulders don't seem to like to go that way when I try with a broomstick. I've been working on that because it's really a mobility issue. So, I've always stuck with front squats and goblet squats.

Well I tried to do it for this because the weight is low enough that I figure if I can do a push-press with it, I should be able to get it over my head by myself and not really risk having to dump it. These complexes are more about getting the heart rate up than lifting heavy.

But it hurts my neck. I've read starting strength and watched a lot of the squat videos on here, so I think I'm setting the bar at the right place on my neck, but both times I've done these it hurts. Like it's bruised or very tender in the area, and it continues to hurt after. I used an ice pack on the back of my neck after doing them last night.

I do have bad discs, so maybe that is the problem. Or maybe I *am* doing it wrong, but I don't have anyone to watch me.

If it was important to me to do be able to do them, I could post a video, but since I don't feel that they are terribly important I probably wont. I think the front squats and goblet squats work fine, and since I can't do the back squats or GMs with heavy weight I don't think it will affect me much anyway.

Ack, no workout since Thursday. Got something weird going on again. Happened last month too.

Friday felt tired and my allergies were bugging me. Lots of sneezing and runny nose. Then Saturday felt like I'd been hit by a truck and slept and rested most of the day. Sunday and today still not feeling great. Headache, scratchy throat, and this weird muscle pain same as last month.

Muscles in thighs, buttocks, calves and arms feel like I just finished a tough workout -- constantly. Tired, achy itchy/twingy(?) like I have lactic acid in them maybe? I don't know how to explain, except that it doesn't feel anything like DOMS, or like pinched nerve. It's diffuse achiness and fatigue. Pushing a shopping cart yesterday and it felt like it weighed a ton. Plus just feeling tired and run-down in general.

Ah well, I made a Dr. appt for tomorrow. 1-2 days last month and now 3 days running and it's worse than last time with arms and shoulders being involved. Time to get it checked out.
