Thanks for the offer! Very sweet. I was referring to starting my tests. I'm coming up on four years post college, and thought I would have started them by now. I mostly wanted to be licensed before we start a family and hopefully it will still happen. I have a lot of hours in certain categories, but need a lot in some other specific ones that I don't forsee happening anytime soon. Its tough when certain things are out of your control, ya know?

Yeah, quite good! I can't take credit for anything I cook. I am so not a chef, but I am really good at finding fun food blogs and copying things! Usually the stuff I throw together on my own is strange and probably bland to most people.

Okay - quick post. Be back to check logs tomorrow morning.

Tonights workout:

t-mill intervals
5 min warm up @ 5.5
1 min sprints @ 8.0, 8.4, 8.4, 8.5, 8.5, 8.2, 8.3
each followed by 2 min @ 5.5
8 min cool down @ 5.5
8 min walk @ 3.7

total 40 minutes - I haven't been that sweaty in a long time. I think people were staring at me when I walked back to the locker room and had sweat showing through on my shirt. Yes, I sweat a lot people.

And its been a great day (fitness wise anyway) got the GWF and another pound gone on the scale. 138 now. Its weird how I felt it this time. Somehow I just sensed it being lower again. I honestly don't remember the last time I weighed this much. I remember being just under 130 in 2001 for some reason. I think I was about 138-140 when I met my DH in 2002, but was in no way in this good of shape or body fat %. I will take this stronger version anyday

We made burritos with 96/4 beef and low carb tortillas tonight. Yum!

And my mind is still spinning from LOST! Off to watch Duke/UNC with the husband

Hooray on the continued weight loss!!! So cool, and I know what you mean by liking the "stronger version". I feel the same way, it's a great feeling!

Thanks Celeste! I feel pretty good about where I am at. For a while there I was thinking I was going to have to cut calories or workout harder then I was. Now I know better. The intensity of Fat Loss III helped me get into better "shape", but didn't seem to help me lose big. Too intense perhaps? I am not one that gets hungrier or sits around more with intense stuff, so I know it wasn't that.

Anyway, first full day yesterday with GWF. Said my burn was 2582. My workout for the day was Built for Show Spring B1 and 20 minute jog on the treadmill. I made more of a conscious effort to move around more in the evening, so it may not be typical. We shall see!

Thursday Feb. 13th
Built for Show Spring, B1

Jump Squat (only supposed to be 3x5 but I had a hard time finding the correct weight)
5 x BW
5 x 15
5 x 20
5 x 20
8 x 20

Superset
B1) Wide Grip Lat Pulldown
20 x 60
20 x 60
B2) DB Single Arm Push Press
20 x 15 - too light
20 x 20

Superset
C1) DB RDL
20 x 30's
20 x 30's
C2) Bulgarian Split Squat (I love these, I know..... I am special)
20 x 25's
20 x 25's

Superset
D1) Reverse Crunch
12 x BW (i didn't write down how many I was supposed to do, so I just did a bunch until I felt my abs burning)
15 x BW
D2) Side Plank
30 seconds a side
30 seconds a side - wimpy I know, but I have to work back up to these

Then since I like to have a certain sweatiness factor before exiting the gym, I went and jogged for 20 minutes on the treadmill @ 5.3 mph 1% incline.

So far these workouts have seemed easier then NROL Fat Loss programs. Well the 2 x 20 portion anyway. I might feel differently after tomorrow's 5x5's, which I am very excited about to do some strength stuff!

I had to visit a jobsite yesterday afternoon and it took me less time then I planned so I got to the gym earlier then usual. So nice! Its amazing how right around 4:30 it just fills up. Oh and I ran into a friend from high school on my way out! She just joined. We ran in the same crowd in high school but weren't good enough friends where I would just callher up to hang out just the two of us. Either way it will be fun to see her there now too.

Its going to be a balmy 28 today so I am going to hit the trails for an easy 3 mile run after work.

Great workout!

Wow, nice burn! It definitely makes you more conscious of moving. Are you going to do any comparisons with your Polar? I would be curious to see what your differences, if any, would show.

Great workout!
Thanks! I meant special as in special needs -ha ha. For some reason I like exercises that I can feel in my butt and hammies. Two places that I want to feel the burn, ya know?

Yeah I know, strange about the BSS. In Built for Show there is a version that I get to do where the working leg is elevated, just to make it all that much worse.

I am hoping the burn rate from GWF is somewhat right. If it is, then I am definitely in a deficit.

Thanks Ginger. I am more aware of moving around now that I have it on all the time. I have bene waering the Polar for my workouts and have been writing them down, but I will have to go through my GWF chart and count up the minute burns - there isn't a way to select only an hour of time on that thing is there?

Yesterday's burn came in at 2608. That included a 35 or so minute run @ 9 minute miles outside (it was colder then I planned on! I almost wimped out but made myself go) Then I picked up around the house, got ready for my brothers hockey game, went to the game, stood there a lot but no significant movement. I was up until midnight randoming around and watching the Tudors, but that was about it! But I am definitely making a point to stand rather then sit and walk around more.

A cool thing happend at the gym today.

A woman maybe in her late 40's, really fit, nice arm definition, fairly thin, was on the smith machine next to my power rack. I noticed she was watching a lot of what I was doing. After I moved on to my incline bench, she came over to me and started asking me about front squats and if I could show her how to do them! I said sure! I told her I wasn't a trainer or anything, and she looked confused and said "Oh well you have such good form you look like you are!" She said she usualyl did dumbbell work at home, but had just been hired by the gym to be a trainer. So I showed her the ins and outs of front squats and back squats. I tried to teach her the form stuff that I knew and what worked for me. It was fun! She said she was impressed with what I was doing and that I knew so much. I said I do a lot of reading online and follow programs from books, so I told her about NROL4W and this forum and how they changed my outlook completely on exercise. So it was fun to talk to someone. Hopefully I will see her around again.

Here is the workout:
Built For Show, Spring A2

A) DB Snatch
5 x 30
5 x 30
5 x 30

Superset
B1) Front Squat
5 x 65
5 x 75
5 x 75
5 x 85
5 x 85
B2) Step Up
5 x 25's
5 x 25's
5 x 25's
5 x 25's
5 x 30's
Superset
C1) Barbell Bent Over Row
5 x 65, all 5 sets

C2) Barbell Incline Bench Press
5 x 65, all 5 sets

Superset
D1) Wood Chop
15 x 40
15 x 40
D2) 3 pt Plank
30 sec. each side x BW
30 sec each side x BW

I think we are off to go ice skating. DH is sick again and is napping on the couch. I don't know if he is up to it.

Sorry DH is sick - your workout looks great!

That's AWESOME that the woman asked you for help, but kinda scary that she was hired as a trainer and doesn't even know how to do a front squat!!!

Hello! It was fun - and cold. Not as warm as I would have liked, but then the ice would have been all soft.

We did! Not for very long. Poor husband was feeling weak and tired. He is so sweet and wanted to do something fun with me, so he went anyway. It was pretty cold. I laughed a lot at him. I grew up at ice rinks and he grew up on the basketball court so his skating skills are lacking I am not even that good of a skater and he made me look professional.

Its a good think we did go skating with all the eating we did that night! We made enchiladas and I made oreo truffle balls for DH as his valentines day present. Somehow just as many ended up in my belly as his....strange how that works. And he bought me a bunch of candy, so I had to have a little of that, too.

We were pretty busy and active Saturday (at least I was, he was on the couch a lot) and GWF said I burned 2780. I didn't track my food or Coronas , but am guessing I ate about that much.

Sunday I did a 3 mile run and 30 minute walk on the treadmill. I also cleaned the house and did a ton of laundry, but food could have been better. GWF for the day was 2616.

So far I am happy with the numbers. I am clearly in a deficit during the weekdays, but like I have always known need to eat a little less on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nice workouts! LOL about the ice-skating... I took lessons as a kid, had my little ice-skating dress (with those triangle-shaped patches sewn on - did you have that?) and all that jazz... My mom had been a skater too (as a kid) and I remember that we quit lessons when SHE fell and broke her wrist. Hmmm...

As for the food and GWFit - your burn is GREAT and I think you did great if you had "a little" of the treats instead of ALL of them, right?

I am pretty sure on the GWFit screen, when you first upload your armband you can slide the hours - to check certain time periods. Pretty sure and I have all my GWFit stuff on my other computer, so I can't check right now.
You have a really good burn rate! That is awesome.
I love the story from the gym on you showing the "trainer". Good stuff.
Just stopping by to catch up.

LOL! I know what you are talking about - I had some friends in figure skating. My ice time came on hockey skates. Although not many girls at the time had hockey skates instead of figure skates. I still regret not playing as a kid even though it would have meant playing with all boys! I envy my little sister...girls hockey has grown so much over the past 10 years.

Thanks Ginger. I was wanting to figure out the cals from just my intervals. I will just have to take the time and add them up! No biggie.

So yesterdays burn was 2486 according to GWF. This included my treadmill intervals and not much else. I wasn't feeling well after I left work. I got to the gym and even considered not doing the intense stuff and just doing some steady state jogging instead, but once I got going I felt great. So great in fact I did 8 intervals instead of 7. Here is how it went down:

warm up 5 min @ 5.5 (1% incline)
1 min @ 8.0
2 min @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.5, 2 min @ 5.5 - 7 times
6 min cool down @ 5.5
7 min walk @ 3.7

total 40 minutes

I had so much energy - I have no idea where it came from. I had to keep upping the intensity to get my heart rate to where I wanted it. Strange how some days this is near impossible. Must have been all the candy I had this weekend

Once I got home I started feeling crappy again. I was nauseous for some reason. I slowly ate some food and started to feel a little better, but not much. I pretty much layed on the couch from 7-9 with a few moments of activity doing some laundry and folding. Since neither dh or I were feeling great, we were in bed by 9:30! Old people! I feel much better today and hopefully not actually getting sick. Fingers crossed!

So in some other logs I alluded to only lifting 2x a week. I don't know if I will make this permanent but maybe every other week or so. Its not that I get drained, eat more, or stop moving because of lifting and intense stuff, the opposite in fact. Or maybe I should just stay the course and keep on keepin on and trust that results will come?

Yesterday the scale was up from my low of 138 last week. But, I got my lowest BF% reading ever. So it has to be water, right? I was feeling yucky/bloated so I am hoping to chalk it up to that. Confusion! I haz it.

Sorry you got so icky-feeling after the workout - perhaps you felt so good that you overdid it? Hope you're feeling better today... as for bf% - trends, trends, trends... sigh...

I was feeling better yesterday, but now I seem to have the beginnings of a cold. I tried to avoid it as long as I could but with DH being sick twice in the past month my efforts can only get me so far. Here's hopin' it doesn't turn into a full blown cold thing.

Weight was back down to last weeks low last night....so strange. Sigh.

Here is last nights workout:

Built for Show, Spring B2, 5x5

Jump Squat
5 x 25
5 x 25
8 x 25

Superset
B1) Wide Grip Lat Pulldown
5 x 90
5 x 90
5 x 90
5 x 90
5 x 95
B2) DB Single Arm Push Press
5 x 30 - all 5 sets

Superset
C1) DB RDL
5 x 40's - all 5 sets

C2) Bulgarian Split Squat
5 x 40's - all 5 sets (OUCH today)

Superset
D1) Reverse Crunch
12 x BW
15 x BW
D2) Side Plank
30 seconds a side
30 seconds a side

Treadmill jog @ 5.3 for 20 minutes

GWF for Tuesday: 2626

I realized this morning I have not yet had a non-workout day since I got it. I have done some form of exercise for the past 16 days. Since I feel a cold coming on, I am sure there will be a few coming up.

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately I am not better today. Went to bed early so I think that helped, but the throat is much more sore today. Oh well, like I said....you can only try to keep the germs away for so long! I feel like I have been washing my hands straight for the past two months and trying to not get too close to the sick people. Alas, my efforts have failed.

And I am a bad sick person as seen below:

Wed. Feb. 18 workout:

Treadmill intervals

warm up 5 min @ 5.5 (1% incline)
1 min @ 8.0
2 min @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.2, 2 min @ 5.5 - 6 times
8 min cool down @ 5.5
8 min walk @ 3.7

total 40 minutes

When I got to the gym I had talked myself into just doing some steady state jogging, but tried an interval and it felt fine, so I did my normal routine. The funniest thing was the dude (complete with camouflage bandanna and cut off shirt) next to me. He kept punching like he was in a kickboxing class and doing high knees, leaning over, taking big strides, and just generally making a lot of raucous. I thought he was going to fall off at least two times.

Go Wear number for the day was 2463. A little lower then yesterday, but probably because I spent a good chunk of my evening on the couch and went to bed early.

I made the mistake of getting on the scale last night - another 2 pound swing. I feel extra squishy - does being sick make you retain water? Cause if not, something is making me bloated. Ugggh.

Frustration - I haz it.

Hey, Bree!

Hope you're feeling better and workouts are looking great!

Lol at camo dude. People are weird. As we were leaving the gym today, we see the lady pull right up in front and part half in the handicap spot and regular spot. Did she not notice?
