Thanks Karla! I do want to do a bulk someday. For now its getting leaner - esp. in my legs/hips/butt.

Thanks! It feels good to be done with it. I would have liked to see some more inches lost, but just another testament to my diet being the biggest factor which could have been cleaner thats for sure.

Thanks - what a compliment! I have days where I feel confident, but definitely not quite where I want to be yet. Your progress is inspiring - that I do know

Thanks!

I am pretty upset at myself for letting my eating extravaganza continue over into yesterday. I had good intentions of eating right, but overate for dinner with leftovers and my "birthday cookies" my DH made for me. They are so good! I have to shake it off...but I am having trouble. I felt so full last night it was uncomfortable. I haven't had that feeling for a long time and didn't like it. I only had a bowl of chili, but that and two liters of water, and some milk made a bad combo.

I did make it to the gym yesterday fortunately and didn't sit around hardly at all the whole weekend (except for during the actual game Sunday) so hopefully not all was lost. We drank quite a bit of beer on Saturday night and a little on Sunday. Trying to drink tons of water and eat way under my normal deficit today. I am NOT going to weigh myself this week. After the weekend and t.o.m. happening its just not a good idea.

here is what I did yesterday:

treadmill, 35 minutes running, 25 minutes walking. 455 calories burned. according to HR monitor.

Tonight I am going to do some easy lifting and some time on the treadmill - either intervals or steady state. Depending on how I feel.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well since I did kind of a drive by posting for the challenge, I suppose I should elaborate on my progress this month a little. Overall I was happy that some inches were lost, but I really wanted to see the scale get down more. So in regards to that, I was disappointed. I also wish some of the definition I see in my legs in the mirror would show in the pictures. Maybe its because I am walking. At the gym though my quads are starting to really get more defined. I still want the legs to shape up better. It tells me my diet was not as good as it could have been. Mostly on the weekends. I am going to make a better effort this month to work on that.

And I hope I am not putting too many eggs in my Go Wear Fit basket - but I think it will really help me. I was talking to my DH more about it (trying to help him understand why I want it and how it works) and he said he thinks I will find it sad how little I burn at work. He is so right! He said his would be double because he is on his feet all day (teacher).

I was reading more of Built for Show last night. The reps and sets change each workout, so that could be interesting. The programs are 12 weeks long though, and I don't know if I would get bored doing the same exercises for that long. I am used to doing them only a month! I think I will give it a go next week though. I can always take a week off and do some other things if it gets to be too boring.

Hi Bree,
I think the GWFit will help you with all of that, I really do. I know I've said it around here over and over, but I love it! Love it. Still love my Polar and use it during my workouts, but the GWFit is where it's at! I am antsy at work now that I know how little calories I am truly burning. I was always like that before, but I make myself get up every hour and half and walk the halls a bit. I go to the farthest bathroom, etc.
I hear you on the leg definition showing up in the pictures! I feel like my legs are my best feature, but the stuff I see in the mirror at the gym, isn't showing up in the pictures.
And this was only one month and you look really good in your pictures. I know it may not be huge strides in your eyes, but you are already in such a good place. Hang in there. I think you'll be super happy with the gadget.
(why do I always ramble in your log?)

When I first got my BodyBugg I would do walking lunges to the restroom and single leg lunges in the handicap stall just to bump up my number during work hours. Also took walks at break more. Need to do that again. And I agree with both of you on the leg definition not showing in the pics. My legs look like stumps in the update pics, but they look a lot better in real life.

Hi Bree-

I just wanted to stop by and say Happy Birthday! I'm excited for you getting the GoWear Fit. I have been thinking about getting one too.

As for the leg definition, for me at least, I have to get down in the 130's (I'm 5'9") to see anything. That is just the last place for fat to leave my body and to get there my chest will be so small I'm considering looking for bras in the girls section because an A cup is too big. I am hoping if I put some more muscle on my legs it will not have to be that way, but we'll see.

Ahh so jealous! Apparently it takes longer to deliver things up here in the frozen tundra. I have been checking my amazon account way too many times a day. It says its in my city as of this morning...so hopefully I will get it today!

Hi Ginger! Thanks so much for the compliments. I really do feel like I am in a good place. I have all the tools I need, I just need to use them and work on some weekend eating issues. I think you look amazing as well - I would love to have those legs!

Glad I am not the only one about the legs! I know I need to be much leaner to see anything. I love how everyone fits in more activity with the Bugss/GWF's! I love where I work, but its a tiny building with not much opportunity to walk halls or stairs. Once it gets a little warmer out I want to try to walk even for 10 minutes at lunch. I think every little bit will help.

Hi Pauline! I was reading some more last night. Its obviously directed towards young men...but its kind of fun to read! Its like finding out what the other side is thinking When my Dh lived with a bunch of guys in college I would read the maxim's and fhm type magazines - most of the time the "what women want" sections were hilarious. I am sure they would say the same about our lady mags!

Anyway, it looks good so far. THe different rep/set schemes each workout will help me get my "strength fix" in, as well as the high rep heart beating stuff.

Hi Leah! Thanks for sharing. I figured that was the case. We must be built similarly because my upper body/chest keeps getting smaller....legs not so much. I have had to buy a few new bras but am having trouble finding a good one, too. It always has to be a tradeoff doesn't it? I would still liek to see if I could get lean enough to see those hard earned muscles....I got my work cut out for me.

Last night I did a variation of NROL Fat Loss II:

Superset:
Deadlift:
w/u: 16 x 45
8 x 45 snatch grip
10 x 95
10 x 115
10 x 135
10 x 135 - last few form was rough, probably should have stopped at 8

Bench Press:
w/u: 10 x 45
10 x 65
10 x 65
10 x 65

Superset:
Bulgarian Split Squat
10 x 35's
10 x 35's
10 x 35's

Cable Row:
10 x 75
10 x 60 - wanted to go slow and concentrate on form
10 x 60

Superset:
Single Leg RDL's
10 x 25's
10 x 25's
10 x 25's

Hanging leg raise:
10 x BW
10 x BW
10 x BW

Then I felt the need to get extra sweaty and did a quick interval thing on the treadmill - 1% incline:
2 min warm up @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.0
2 min @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.0
2 min @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.0
2 min @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.0
Then I jogged and walked for a cool down.

I had my HR monitor on and forgot to turn it off and went to target after the gym. I realized this on my way to my car after shopping and with this workout and about 45 minutes of browsing it said I burned 642 calories. Interesting to say the least.

The birthday madness won't stop! I totally forgot about my co-workers getting me a cake like we do for birthdays here, so they got some rediculous cake from a fancy bakery that was okay. I am not trying to be ungrateful by any means, but I am not a big fan of bavarian cream, and that was the filling. So I kind of picked at the frosting and had a few bites and ended up throwing it away when no one was looking. I feel sorta guilty, but after the splurge I had over the weekend I just didn't want it! I was proud of myself for not devouring it, even though I didn't even like it that much. In the past i would have ate it because it was there. One thing I am trying to get better at is asking myself why I really want this thing? Is it really that good? Usually the answer is no, its not really that good.

Tonight a friend wants to take me out for dinner since she couldn't meet us this past weekend. I need to make a good decision! The place we are going will serve half sizes of their salads and they have quite a few grilled chicken options luckily.

Hopefully I will be back this afternoon to say that my GWF has arrived!

I'm the same way too--only the last time I saw definition in my legs, I was 115 (at 5'4"). The sad thing is that at 134lbs, I'm already shopping in the girls department for bras...

I'm looking forward to the birthday madness this weekend! Although, I think we'll be snowboarding all weekend, so I doubt that I'll have too much to eat--I never do when I'm on the mountain. It's the coming back to the city and stopping off at the bar part that always gets me.
My office is making me a special cake--non-dairy, because I never get to eat the cake they bring in. It's always got butter and some sort of creamy-icing. I keep telling myself it's really thoughtful of them to make a vegan cake for me, but then I can't use the "it's got dairy" excuse for not eating it.

I hope you get you GWF!

Yes me too about the legs - the other day I found some old pictures and one of me in high school at my thinnest. I should post it here - I can't believe I thought I was average at the time.

Yay birthday weekend! How fun about snowboarding. What a great active way to celebrate. There aren't too many options for winter birthdays around here - especially when its really cold out.

I think its really nice your co-workers get you a special cake you can eat. I totally know what you mean about wanting an excuse not to eat it though. Last summer for someone else's birthday here it was the ice cream cake and I looked how many calories the tiny piece of cake I had was...it was 700 calories! No joke. That's one of the reasons I try to avoid it. Thats almost half my day!

Thanks! Sadly, it did not come yesterday Apparently it just rode around on a delivery truck all day. Or the tracking info was wrong. As I was leaving work yesterday (I get pacakges delivered here) I checked the area where we get deliveries one last time and let out a big sigh. One of my co-workers asked me why the long face? So I told him all about the GWF. He is actually pretty understanding and interested in eating right and how foods can affect our health since he has a rare form of arthritis and has experimented with eating certain foods to help the imflammation. He is also vegetarian so even though I know its not the same, at least he can relate to making special food choices and having to go without what the crowd is doing.

Thanks for stopping by as well! I enjoy reading about your workouts, too.

So queue the Charlie Brown music....no GWF yet. I don't know why I thought it would come early.

Anyway I have a lot of questions and I am sure I will ask those who have it more when it gets here, but what do those of you who have it set your time for the 24 hours at? I heard noon - noon is typical. I am just trying to figure out how to compare my food and data on the same day.

Oh yeah, and my workout:

treadmill intervals @ 1% incline
5 min warm up @ 5.5
1 min @ 8.2, 2 min @ 5.5 - repeat 7 times
8 min cool down @ 5.5
8 min walk

Total 40 minutes
HR monitor said 392 calories burned

I met a friend out for dinner. Got a giant salad of chopped cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots with grilled chicken and the dressing on the side. Its amazing to me how little of the dressing I use when its on the side. A few times when I have asked for it on the side, they have forgotten and I know I could hvae sent it back, but I usually don't because I hate being "that guy" and I am amazed that all that dressing is on there.

So I have no idea how many calories were in that thing. I had only eaten about 600 up until then, so I hope I didn't do too much damage.

The friend I was with is one of my fit friends. Its always so nice to talk to people about the struggles we face - esp. the workplace food and being at relatives houses and the expected food partaking. We also both talked about how hard it is to not want to eat what our boyfriends/husbands eat and keep up with them. She is newly dating a guy and was talking about how most things they do together for dates involves food or drink or dessert. I told her those things don't change when you are married - your husband still tries to sabatoge you with his delicious homemade cookies, Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun ice cream addiction, frozen pizza buffets at midnight, and plentiful stocks of Coronas, Bells, Summits, and other delicious beers. Thanks husband!

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Bree!

Nice workouts and progress this month!

Let me know if you find out how to make definition show up in pictures. I have more of it in my arms and shoulders than pics show, too, and it is frustrating that it will not show in pictures.

Hi Karen! Thanks

I have a feeling lighting and camera angle have a lot to do with it. I am usually taking mine with my timer, so I am pretty limited as to wear I can set it up to get consistent pictures. And its usually at night so the dim lighting in my bedroom can not be helping!

You guys - I am so pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I FINALLY get my shipment from Go Wear and they sent the WRONG THING!

I got just the display instead of the armband! I didn't order the display (which I am now regretting) so now I have to wait for a new one to ship.

Has anyone returned/exchanged something from amazon before? How long does it take? I am also wondering how it works since I am not returning the item, I got sent the wrong one in the first place, but there wasn't really an option to say that. Grrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOING TO STAB SOMETHING

Oh no Bree - that sucks!!!! Amazon is usually really good (and quick) about returns/replacements. If there is a phone number - I would call them - they should ship out the right thing immediately!!

Oh, man, that stinks!!! The few rare times Amazon has screwed up an order for me over the years, they bent over backwards and took care of it ASAP, usually with a partial refund or GC or other bonus for my trouble.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Yes I was inspired by many of the other ladies here who have gotten one. Back when I first heard about the Body Bugg I wanted one, but after all the buzz around here about the GWF I decided it would make a great birthday present.

I will just have to keep working hard until I get it!

Either I got in really good shape by doing Fat Loss III, or I didn't work very hard last night doing what used to get me tired.

Bree's Fat Loss II mod workout #2:
Superset:
Back Squat:
w/u 16 x 45
10 x 95
10 x 115
10 x 115
10 x 115

u/h grip lat pulldown:
10 x 85
10 x 85
10 x 85 - I know I need to go up in this soon

superset:
swiss ball supine hip leg extention w/leg curl
8 x BW - OUCH! Hammies are soooo sore from tuesday STILL
6 x BW
6 x BW - lame but painful!

DB Push Press:
10 x 25's
10 x 25's
10 x 25's

Superset:
static lunge
10 x 55 - then dude took off my weight, so I just grabbed some dumbbells
10 x 30's
10 x 30's - I think this may be a PR?

hanging leg raise:
10 x BW
10 x BW
10 x BW

Oh cute guy was there again tonight! I don't know if I had mentioned him before, but he is nice to look at. I know I am married and all that jazz, but I can still look, right Anyway, he came over to me when I was squatting and asked how much I had left. I said two sets, and when I was finished found him and told him but he had already found a power rack to use. I noticed later he was squatting with 5 plates on each side!!!!!!!! Thing of it is, hes not a big guy. He is tall and very cut, but not huge. Just very strong I guess. I am sure in most gyms this is not abnormal, but 1) someone squatting is rare 2) someone squatting that much weight is even more rare. Someday I will find a gym that is more conducive to lifting. There is one I found that looks awesome called The Press, but its soooo not close to my work or house unfortunately. It would be over 45 minutes.

It feels weird to not be as dripping sweaty as I was during FLIII. I almost feel like I didn't workout! Maybe I need to add another set to this? I am still reading Built for Show. I will probably start it Tuesday.

Now my debate becomes when I do my intervals. I have really enjoyed forgoing almost all steady state cardio on my non-lifting days this past month in lieu of the intervals. But, I have read in numerous places that its a better idea to do energy systems work after a lifting session. I enjoy steady state running outdoors though, just not the treadmill. In a few weeks I should be able to run outside most days, which would put my Intervals back on lifting days. Hmmmm.... Then again, I read some articles lately from Bill Robertson and others about how too much steady state cardio can negate the work I am doing with lifting and HIIT. I don't want to sabatoge my lifting work with too much steady state cardio. I only do 30-40 minutes at a time, but still. Any suggestions/ideas?

I was all up in arms this morning when I got to work because I had forgotten most of breakfast and lunch today. But, a coworker asked me if I would go to Whole Foods with her to get some things for the office so problem solved! I can get my beloved Kashi TLC bars afterall.

It is supposed to be warm here today - mid 30's so I am going to run outside after work today. I know after all that I just said before about not doing it, but I just love it when it gets warm like this! Can a 10 minute mile pace for 30-35 minutes really harm me? Or am I better off sticking to NEAT and lifting and HIIT/Energy work?

Oh and I did weigh myself the past two days. It wasn't as scary as I thought. After all the beer and food from this weekend I didn't gain a pound. Still at 140.5. Very interesting, body.

Bree, I really like this interview with Alwyn on SS cardio. Maybe you'll find something to take away from it, too:

How annoying about the GWF. Does Amazon even have a phone #? I've never had problems returning anything. Last year I returned the Sirius Stiletto and realized I forgot to put a few things with it (like the headphones and something else) and they still gave me a full refund.

It was 80 here today *ducks and slowly backs out of this thread*

Thanks Jane - that was helpful and right along the lines with everything else I have been reading lately. I kinda knew the answer, but am having a hard time facing reality. I love to run outside - slow and for only about 30 minutes a time. Its a question of how much is too much?

Ha! Actually I think it may have been right around 39 during my run. It was awesome! Glad I could make you laugh I saw about 3 bikers and two other runners while I was out, too.

Thanks! I am going to post my pictures from March '08 as a comparison in here soon - they are in my old log. I haven't had much to lose since I started here, but am so glad I found this place.

80! Oh man it makes me sweat just thiking about that. My thermostat in my house is set at 65 and that feels warm! Its all relative, right?

This is the first time I have returned/exchanged anything at Amazon. Hopefully it works. And no, I did not find a phone #. If I did, it would surely have connected to the same place where I got my scripted emails from where very little English is spoken. Gotta love outsourcing!

Thanks! I just saw your pics on FB - awesome! Looks like you are having an amazing time. Am I right to assume its just you and the husband? No kids???

The GWF has shipped as of tonight. It says Wed. is expected delivery. Soon it will be mine!

Well its pretty lame of me to be online at 10:30 on a Friday, but I was on the computer trying to find the stats to my brothers game, which he won and got allegedly 3 assists! (hockey) so I was trying to confirm if it was 2 or 3, no luck yet.

Oh yeah - I ran outside today!

Did 3.5 miles or so. Felt GREAT. I can tell I am getting in better shape each time I go. Since running is the one thing I have done since I was 14, its what I know and can tell what kind of shape I am in with. But as alluded to earlier, my steady state runs may be getting few and far between. We shall see.

I was also at my BIL/SIL's house tonight geting my hair did. Thats right....free color and cut for life people. She rocks. Do you have any idea how much money I save? Yeah, a lot. Anyway, they are the ones who just had the baby in Decemeber and have a 3 year old. Holy birth control! The 3 year old was out of hand. The baby was cool, but you can barely carry on a conversation with all that craziness. I have more respect for mothers of young kids more and more these days - so to all of you who are you are my heroes!
