Looks good! What trails are you going to run on? I remember a trail along a greenspace area somewhere in South Huntsville, but I'm not sure of the location. It's part of the Huntsville Half Marathon course. Can't remember about mile markers, though - probably not!
The trail at Point Mallard State Park in Decatur has markers and is fairly nice... although COLD along the river!
On Saturday's I'm running the loop around UA Huntsville, and I bike it twice. I have a route I run during lunch when I'm at work in Research park, and my other runs are around my neighborhood. I may branch out and try some more scenic routes later.

Comments: I calibrated the Sportsband, and this time it had be going .2 miles less than Google maps. I like that it's underestimating better, and since I'm using this just as a training tool I think it's good enough.
For the run I think it went well enough. I'm still working on the Chi Running focuses, but I'm not sure if I'm getting it right or not. Next week I'm going to try to convince my wife to video me for a bit to see if I'm getting the lean down. It's tough to feel if I'm doing it correctly.

I've been watching the new TI freestyle DVD, so today I was doing a few of the drills, then swam 600 yards in 100 yard increments. I didn't time the rests but they should be well under 60 seconds. I'm having problems with the switch, where I should be using my hips to spear my arm into the front position. I can't get the exact technique down yet, so I'll work on that more Wednesday. I'd like to get 400 yards in one set this week, so I'll be working towards that as well.

I pretty much wussed out of going for 400 today. After 200 I just decided to stop, that won't happen on Friday. To make up for that I worked hard to finish up with a 200 yard swim. I worked on some drills for about 10 minutes to start off, got frustrated and just swam.

Pretty regular day at the gym. I was able to up a few lifts, so I'm happy with that. Since I'm only lifting once a week, I'm not looking to increase the weights greatly. Also I don't want to have to slow down my other activities to wait for recovery. Basically increasing the weights to ensure it doesn't get easy.

I haven't mentioned this before, but since I started running and swimming on a regular basis in November I've lost 12 lbs and a couple inches from the waist. I had been at 176 for about 2 years, and figured my body had just settled on that. Not sure about my bf%, it's better than average but I'm not sporting a six pack. I haven't actively tried to lose/gain weight in a while. So I was kind of surprised I was able to lose a decent amount without changing my diet (I may even eat more now). I'm 5'9" and currently at 164, and I figure I won't really worry until I get down to 155. If I get that low I may have to start increasing the calories.

So today was a pretty big day as I was able to swim 400 yards without stopping. I'll be doing 400 meter/yard swims for the triathlons I'm planning on for this year, so I'm glad to know that now at least I can make it. I believe I'm going to change up my swimming schedule so that each of my 3 days of swimming will be based on something different. Monday will be shorter interval training, Wednesday will be drills based on Total Immersion, and Friday will be my long distance swims.
After the 400 yard swim I was curious to see the difference in my slow, relatively low energy swim, and swimming as fast as I could. I did 100 yards with a slow controlled pace at 2:48, and my fast swim was 100 yards at 2:48. After my slow pace I was completely in control and could have kept swimming without a problem. After my "fast" swim I was out of breath and I could feel my muscles were tired. So with only a 24 second difference I'm thinking the "fast" pace wasn't really worth it.

It was a bit windy, but overall a good day. I'm really going to have to work on my cycling. My quads were burning pretty early. When it warms up I'll have to increase my time on the bike.

I was aiming for an 8 minute/mile pace, so I was disappointed in this run. It appears I really slowed down after mile 3, and I didn't think I really had. Though I wasn't paying much attention to my pace on the Sportsband. Hopefully I'll be able to do better next time.

Worked mainly on rotating to my right side to breathe. I did this by practicing the core balance drill and skate drill from TI. I ended with doing 6 laps swimming on every 3rd stroke. I think I'm going to have to build up my endurance to swim like this. Currently I just need to breathe more often to be able to swim comfortably.

Overall a solid workout. There are a few exercises I could push it harder, but I think I'm progressing fine. I'm not having to rest the next day for swimming which is important right now. I could get carried away especially in the leg workouts and be sore for a couple of days pretty easily. During the cable chop I could definitely feel my external obliques (pretty sure that's the name) working hard. I guess this was the first workout I really had a good amount of resistance for that excercise.

So I was able to swim 1000 yards with no rests. I was very happy about this. I know it wasn't fast, but it's still pretty impressive knowing I couldn't swim a single 25 yard lap less than 2 months ago. I probably could have gone further, but I was worried about how I would feel when I was done. Surprisingly I wasn't very tired at all. Muscles weren't fatigued and I wasn't even out of breath. Great way to end the week.

It was a beautiful day, and it went well. Definitely felt tired half way through the run and slowed down a good bit. Basically had an 8:00 pace for first half and 8:30 for the second. Hopefully I can keep improving by knocking a couple minutes off the bike and increase speed to a 7:15 pace in a couple of months.

Congrats on the 1,000 yard swim! I've heard other people who start training for triathlons say that there is a "yes, I actually can do this" moment with swimming. That's the one part I have a hard time wrapping my mind around. You are definitely getting a wide variety of workouts in - looks good!

I was actually happy with the time. I really wasn't looking at my pace, this was more of a fun run for distance. I'd pick up my pace if I was going slow, but aside from that I just went with it. Also today was a beautiful day for a run. When I ran it was upper 50's with blue skies. Can't get much better than that. I hope everyone in the South was able to take advantage of the weather.

Thought my times would have been faster. This definitely tired me out more than Friday's 1000 yards swim, but it doesn't look like I went much faster. I'll see how this goes.

Worked on breathing on my right side, as well as using my body to spear my hand forward. Spearing went well, but breathing on right side not so much. When I breath to the right my legs drop, which greatly increase the required effort to go forward. I must be bringing up my head to cause the imbalance, but I can't figure out why. I think I'll just have to keep practicing.

Had to quit in the middle because I was feeling dizzy. Not sure what exactly happened. When I started I had to rearrange my schedule because the racks were full, so I didn't get to squats until I was half-way done. After one set of squats I started to feel dizzy and my heart was racing. I waited a couple of minutes then went back at it, but couldn't really shake the feeling something was off. After one set of lunges I decided to stop while I was ahead. It felt similar to the way I do if I do something right after I donate blood. Anyway, I feel better now and hope this doesn't happen again.

Went out to a wing place for lunch with some co-workers, then tried to swim. It went terrible. Not sure if this has something to with yesterday as well. I haven't taken a break in quite a while, so I'm going to ease off for the weekend and see how it goes on Monday.

Not a formal work out, but I played in a scrimmage game against my high school's soccer team. Thought I was in pretty decent shape with everything I've been doing, but it was tough. I played OK considering I hadn't touched a ball in about a year, but I should have slowed down and thought quicker. Took me a bit to remember that.

I don't believe I'm on a calorie deficit. I don't track it very carefully, but I've increased the amount I've been eating since I started this triathlon training. Basically because I was getting hungry more often. The only out of ordinary thing I can think of is that I donated blood using the Alyx machine at the Red Cross. The Alyx machine only takes red blood cells, but it takes twice as many as you give when you give a pint of blood. You're not supposed to exercise for 12 or 24 hours afterwards, and maybe it affected me a bit more this time.

Not bad since I didn't swim last week. On my last 100 yard set I went pretty hard and was able to get to 2:51. Hopefully pretty soon I'll be swimming like that on a regular basis.

I made sure and had enough carbs before I went to the gym, and I didn't feel dizzy at all. So maybe that was the problem, or I was just tired. I upped some of the weights and didn't have any problems. I'll keep upping the weight until I notice it causes me to be too tired for swimming on Friday.
On a side note, I'm working from home twice a week so that my wife can do her student teaching for a month I believe. So working out on a regular schedule is going to be tougher. My gym is about 20 minutes from my house, which may cause me to be able to swim less, but in place I'll be running more.

This went really well. Instead of counting each lap I used the lap function on my watch to keep track. It's crazy trying to count 25 yard laps, so this helped tremendously. I could have kept going, but I had to leave. Next week I'll go for a mile, we'll see how it goes.

I put a alot into this, but just couldn't get to the speed I wanted. My quads were sore from the beginning of the bike ride, probably from lifting on Thursday and then my swim on Friday. I'm going to try to lift on Tuesday instead to give myself more rest and see what that does. I really want to increase my for both the bike and run portion of this. I'll just keep at it and I should be able to do it.

Started off as a great run. I was planning on doing sprint intervals after a 5 minute warm-up. After 2 miles I was feeling great, but then I started getting a pain on the outside of my left foot. I took a break, made sure my shoe was laced well, and then started back. I tried to walk it off and tried to run thinking it would stop. But no luck. So for the rest of the day foot has hurt when I put pressure on it. Took some Tylenol and I'm hoping it will go away quickly. I made the mistake of Googling to get a diagnosis, and found many of the problems that have similar symptoms require a long break from running. I'm hoping I wake up, it's cleared up, and I'm able to get back to my regular schedule. I also may buy some new shoes later this week.
