Ugh, I had that stomach bug back in September and it lingered for a couple weeks. Hope yours gets outta town much faster.

thanks ladies. worked out with frank today. was a so-so workout. still recovering from the buggity bug. drinking a yummy green protein shake now.
so when frank handed me the medicine ball today, I definitely had a talk with him about how medicine balls aren't going to get me to my goal of building more lean mass during this phase of my training. I also let him know that women who don't want to build mass should stay away from the free weights, machines and other weighlifting areas of his gym. he sort of had the "WTF" look to him, lol.

I just can't believe I have had it all wrong since february when I started training with frank.
seriously, I am considering leaving my personal training sessions in my budget. my friend jay and I were talking (avid weight lifter). he has a new workout partner and is realizing very significant gains (his goal is to add some lean on his already great 6' 8" 245 low body fat physique). we were discussing how significant having a workout partner or a trainer is to realizing goals. I am a very disciplined person when it comes to exercise, I am really self motivated at this point, and I think I did a reasonably good job with NROL first (before I joined this forum) then NROLW. but I am truly thrilled with my results since I have been working with frank, particularly my performance gains.
I suspect that I am not done with competitive endurance sports, regardless of whether the stars align at my BQ marathon or not. I really like what is happening to me, and I truly believe that frank's expertise has played a large part in this transformation.
I guess I could have a gazillion other worse addictions.
I put a note in my iphone to put my channeling ballcap on just for you!!! I went to the site, and they don't have text updates like your last one. I will have to rely on ginger texts......eeeeeekkkkkkkkk

Are you on twitter? They are apparently doing a thing called "twitter my time", so I signed up. There is a small chance they will be updating my FB, but I am not 100% on that. (I love that you went to check ) I can always have Andrew text you, he needs more jobs to do while I run.

totally have him text me. it was great having jane live at the scene, lol!! I went to twitter and am now following the mary itself. not sure about how to follow your time itself, let me know how to do that and I will.
did a 6 mile run. hotter than hades here and just as humid. did some marathon pace, some easier. LOVE MY NEW GARMIN 310 XT!!!! it vibrates to let you know if you are on pace and when the interval stops and starts. and when I get back into triathlon, it is submergable to 50 meters and also mounts on your bike. totally loving my gadgets. it has a comfy heart rate strap, so I know I had a good workout today.
and OMG scale is down down down and I am several days into my post bug replenish. and I am still retaining fluid according to tanita. suspecting a new low sometime about a week to a week and a half from now. am probably not going to do another caliper and bioimpedence at frank's gym until after the marathon. my body seems to naturally be headed where it needs to head for race day.
once my marathon is complete, I will know where my goals will be for the next year. until then, I don't see any benefit in getting into the numbers other than making sure my scale weight doesn't creep up by any substantial amount.
Oh Wendy, that sounds so cool! I am totally getting a Garmin very soon. I wish I had just done that in the first place, to be honest.
Ok, I ran last night and it was cooold. Like freeze my chest and lungs on the inside cold. And it is supposed to be in the 30's at the start of this race.

Damn, Ginger! I would have given you mine! I sold it on ebay and I posted here at JP's about it, but I think it was before you started running. Sold it to some guy in Canada!
ginger, don't buy one. you are welcome to mine. it might need to get sent to the garmin place for battery tune up/replacement. lately, it doesn't hold a charge well. I have the 405 with heart rate monitor capability. you will love it.
Jane - I just recently saw your post about it and figured it was long gone.

ok, will box up when I get a chance. you will love it!
so worked out with frank today. we did rounds of split squats, dumbell push press from squat position, inverted rows, lots of great functional stuff!! oh and these really cool side planks while using a dumbell with the other hand and rotating up and down.
I told frank that running a 7:05 mile with energy to spare wasn't a good enough outcome of our work together. I am down to 145.25 on the scale today at 5 foot 6.5 inches. and when I looked at my muscular frame in the mirror this morning, I am seeing more of a rower instead of a runner. so I asked him how I could get that lean, runner look that my pace-mates have. I outweigh all of them by 20-40 pounds actually!! the girls I run with are lithe and FAST, some of them easily breaking 4 hours in the marathon. he immediately took me outside to this new obstacle course that he built, and we flipped tires and then I climbed one of those rope ladders just like they do on american gladiator!! he said that he only wished that back in february when we started working together, that I had told him that my goal was to both BECOME a fast runner and LOOK like a fast runner. he thought I was just interested in being faster. he apologized for the misunderstanding, and now we have a new plan that will help me atrophy my lean mass, while dropping body fat at the same time. thank god he gets it.

Must get rope and tire. Now.

OMG he is the bestest of the bestest!! I seriously need to post an updated pic. I am going to do that this weekend. the performance gains are clearer from the run times I post, but I have realized some serious body comp changes lately too.
y'all can see my before pic at the beginning of this log. I NEVER thought I would be a size 6 at my height, but size 6 I am....totally shocked sometimes still.
I am really really grateful to this forum. I seriously would also not be in this shape without the people on this forum.

My coffee must be decaf today but.... this is tongue in cheek? Just want to make sure you're joshing a few of we other JP'ers . . .
If this is serious, I'm a little flummoxed. I think. Need more coffee.

I am jealous of the tires and rope ladders and such. I am thinking of building something like that in my back yard. Originally I said it as a joke, but I'm starting to take it more seriously...
ha! elisabeth, tell me about it. I am making a joke about it now, but srsly, when I saw berardi and his friends and their video of it several months back, ed and I talked about getting a tractor tire. also when I watched sidonia's video. I think it would be cool. we have the right setting for it at our house. we have talked about chin bars, room for a TRX, roland's wheel barrow/boulder work out. love the idea. still not gonna get me outta frank's weight room. would use it for weekend fun with my fit friends followed by good wine on the observation deck as recovery nutrition!!
Ok, good. When I got to the tractor tire and rope that did it for me.
But the first part about other faster women being lighter than you.... well, those are my thoughts a lot of the time (I actually run with a woman my height and less 20lbs) so it was hard to separate myself from reading them.
