espi, I would not do peas in the italian-inspired one, the texture wouldn't be right, IMHO. if you are going to use the anchovies, I would balance with a bit of sugar.
my favorite way of doing eggplant is cubed, coarse diced roma tomatoes, peppers, fresh basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt and coarse pepper. mix it all up and oven roast it.
the greek inspired baked eggplant I posted in my log a few weeks back was yummy, but it had goat cheese in it.
Wow ! I did rachel's metabolic workout. Fast runner girl got her ass kicked by 34 and a half minutes of metabolic madness. Rest period was only 15 sec, and after a minute of one leg squat thrusts, it seemed like 1 second. I'm thinking two of these per week will have a major impact on body comp. And the plyometrics will help my running. Instead of 1 min bike sprint, I ran in place hard while kicking my feet up to my butt. Runners usually do these butt kicks after track. They teach you to stride more powerfully and, naturally, a fuller range of movement!
track was hard! we did 400/800/1200 for two sets. the pace you set for the 400 you have to hold for the 800 and 1200. did the ice thing again, which helped. recovered with a greens plus protein bar immediately post, and then had buffalo chili over spinach/broccoli salad with whole wheat elbow macaroni. I always crave spice post run. yummers!
I used to use the greens plus powder in my shake, I now use a product called E3live in my shake, I am big on green drinks
the greens plus that I use after track is a protein bar that has 16 grams of whey protein--I use the peanut butter chocolate flavor, and I love it. but I love all things green, so the greens taste in it doesn't weird me out. try it!
thankfully, day of rest. I am sore today in a good way!
I got a deal on some Amazing Grass chocolate amazing meal recently and have been mixing it with some almond milk in a shake. Its a little gritty, but the chocolate flavor is great.
hey bree, that shake sounds good. I am always looking for new things to try.
chia seeds are my latest find--I put them in my morning shake too.
sipping now prior to my workout with frank. am thinking of taking an extra day off tomorrow prior to my 15 mile run. I struggled a bit on the 11 miler and I want to be sure I am in primo shape to run fast with my group. it is becoming more challenging to stay with this group as we increase our distance. they are really FAST runners!! it is good for me to push outside my comfort zone, though, I know this is what will help me get better.
so I did 11 with my pace group, and then the extra 4 I did with Michael--I totally did not want to keep the blistering pace we were doing in the blistering heat--by the time I did the 4 its was more than 90 percent humidity and headin' fast to 90 degrees. am very proud of my pace overall.
wow, I think I might make it a regular practice to compare pictures from year to year! from day to day, it is tough to see the changes, but what a difference a year makes!! more importantly, the physical changes are visual evidence of the performance improvements that have happened this year too. I am more motivated than ever to drop a bit more fat over the next 8 weeks before the serious final 12 weeks of training start prior to my goal marathon. SO. HAPPY!!
goal jeans slipped on easier today, so I am thinking I have made some progress during this first week of precision nutrition style eating.
I think the further apart pictures are the more you're going to pick up changes. I used to have a problem looking at the month to month pictures. However, if I compared them to starting pictures I could finally acknowledge the changes. Although all the pictures show great changes, the back shot shows a very tiny waist compared to a year ago.
thanks jane! we have a store right next to our starbux called "the bikini company". like a bikini superstore. the company that makes that suit is local. I love this store, because you can mix and match tops and bottoms, which becomes such an issue when the lats keep getting bigger and the waist keeps getting smaller, LOL.
thanks joyce!! I am up to 15 miles on my long run, so far, no drop in lean mass with the increase in mileage. hoping the trend continues.
I don't know jane, I guess I was just hoping that my HYOOOOOGE bewbies would balance them out, otherwise, I will have to ask frank to put me on a lat atrophy program.

thanks bytsi! you should totally compare your one year pics. it really helped me see progress. during the year, things seem to move so slowly, but now I can tell that even my slow, steady changes have been worth the efforts this year.
