Hai I feel you pain on the heat + humidity.... gardening in 90+ degree temps is brutal.

so I am much closer to my boston goal at this stage of my training than I thought I would be. am really happy to be at this level of fitness so early in the training program. predictions right now are about 4:08 and that wasn't my best effort. that is 6 and a half minutes of improvement from last month's prediction. I surely have 8 minutes of improvement in the next 5 months. add a bit of fat loss and some cool weather, and I am in!!!
did a nice, easy 6 miles. one of my friends told me not to rush it and peak too early in the season. slow, steady, fitness building. staying injury free. eating well.
speaking of eating,, 150.5, no tracking, no nothing. included in the past few weeks was a weekend away in tampa with jill and tina, celebration dinner with friends at jays saturday night, general life stuff. I am going to experiment with an "intuitive deficit" just a tiny one. periworkout nutrition will remain critical and non-negotiable, particularly long run weekends. our long run builds to 11 this saturday. am more ready than I ever have been to achieve my goals!

oh totally roland. I NEVER would have thought I was capable of a 7:21 mile EVER in my lifetime. come fall/winter weather, consistent training, sub 7 seems like just around the corner.
track days scare me, especially after bulgarian split squats with overhead presses in the morning. tttthhhhat that don't kill ya can only make ya stronger.....

One of my favorite songs right there.
Your workouts sound wonderful! And I am still in awe of your 7:21 - like I said, you are my hero.

Just wanted to post that your Boston aspirations are inspiring. I don't think I'll ever run a full, maybe another half or two......and I'm envious of your speed. Awesome work.
awww shucks, G, thanks!! I am looking forward to cheering you on when you start up again!
thanks naive! my hard work is finally starting to pay off.
greg, I am back in my asics gel kayano's with a bit of motion control. decided to tread a bit slower into the world of barefoot running, since this is the year I need to stay uninjured for sure. the running skirt is on, though. I will qualify for boston in my running skirt!
oh, and track sucked ass. 6 x 800. in a steam room. thank god I am suffering with friends, I would never make myself do this. track is the only time that I really hate running. I love tempo runs, I love long runs. but this track work will be the key to achieving my goals, I just know it.
truth be told, today didn't suck as bad as last week. I seem to be getting better at tolerating the momentary pain. I also have an igloo cooler filled with ice and water and have been hydrating better. tuesday lunch now consists of cottage cheese, fruit and greek yogurt with a bit of maple agave syrup. seems to be doing better on the stomach.
with all of our technology greg, they might be able to figure out a way. glad you enjoy reading about my running! I need to start posting my weight stuff.
TRX madness today! and I did these cool staggered pushups where your arms are staggered and your foot is on top of the other foot and you do pushups. 8 each side!!!
thanks jane!! am super happy with the fitness these days. I thought of you today when I did those staggered push ups, they are a GI Jane move for sure!
Easy swim this morning. Sad though, my coach is away for the summer, so I am switching swim teams. The guy that is subbing for her doesnt coach, so i dont want to waste my time. Just talked to the other swim team coach who I know from triathlons, his practices actually fit my running schedule better.
Speaking of triathlon, Kristia has the flu, so I will be doing the tri solo. I do this one race every year just to stay involved, but I rarely bike anymore, and no longer own a road bike, so no speed records this year!my nicole deboom run skirt will be making it's debut! And my first official race on my Gary fisher hybrid complete with keen sandals that clip in. If I'm gonna be slow, might as well be stylin!
Hey there! So, I went out tonight and bought Galloway's Book on Running, the 2nd edition and I plan to dive in. I was tempted to buy his book focusing on half/full marathons, but I thought I would start here. I read his women's running book a couple of years ago. I just thought of you when I was browsing the books and had to come here to tell you.

good morning G! I like that book a lot. he also has a book that is specific to the half marathon that is great! speaking of galloway, I am sippin my green drink and espresso getting ready for my 11 miler. I am totally convinced that galloways method is the safest way to get to the start line of a marathon healthy and uninjured, and the best way to get to the finish line feeling great and begging for more!!! I have done two marathons this way, and I finished both healthy and strong. I haven't decided yet if it is the best way to run your FASTEST marathon. more on that around 10am on nov 29. if I have crossed the line already, the answer is YES!!!

Good to hear. Yes, I almost got that book instead of this one, but thought I would start with this and read that one next. Injury free is my plan. Not about being fast for me, just want to do some races, feel good afterwards and not hurt myself. Thanks for your input.

man! just downloaded the garmin data, and I did 11 miles at 11 min mile pace, at low heart rate in 90 plus degrees and 90 plus humidity!!! wow, no wonder the last few miles felt challenging--we had some 1030 miles in there in this heat!! picture trying to run long distance in a sauna, that's how we roll in florida.
tomorrow, I am doing a sprint triathlon with some friends--1/4 mile ocean swim, 10 mile bike along the ocean, 3 mile run. trying like hell to rehydrate today to prepare. have my gear all packed and ready. this will be the debut race for my gary fisher hybrid bike! the race t-shirt is a technical tshirt for running in orlando magic blue. am so excited to do this race!!! ed and I just came from the ocean and it is flat and calm. hoping it stays that way.
