My SO also has been in hospital for this condition about 3 yrs ago, and he was only 32 years old at the time and not obese at all! He's been using Natto K2 but also red wine for it but above all, keeps exercising (mostly cycling).
In his case, it must have been hereditary...
Thanks for the kudos Wendy. I'm so sorry your lives have been turned upside down like this. I'm wishing you both good things and I hope there's a silver lining in there somewhere. Don't forget to take care of yourself in all of this.

I'm so sorry Ed (and you) went through that ... PE can be so scary!!
But glad for you both at the opportunity to do things differently, and TOGETHER!!
I'm still waiting for my hubby to have that kind of epiphany ... and I hope it's a rather small wake-up call that he gets instead of a large one.
Health is everything ...

Just wanted to say that I hope your hubby is/was able to come home as planned. I know it'll be a bit of a change in routine so I'm sure you're busy. Will he be on Lovenox for a while?
Wendy that is so scary - I'm so sorry to hear. Its weird how it can just turn everything upside down and nothing that was important yesterday seems to even matter anymore. I am wishing for a speedy recovery for him.
hey, we are home again. he was discharged last night late. hopefully this one will stick. sunday afternoon I had to call 911, he got dizzy and short of breath. his pulse was high and skipping beats. docs thought he had thrown another clot. had lots and lots more tests. they finished the anticoagulation in the hospital this time, and the good news is that he did not throw new clots. probably just overexerted himself sunday morning. we have awesome doctors on his case.
he is on the healthy train, for sure. maybe I can convince him to start a log here!! somewhere in my old log is a pic of him and his amazing biceps. he is 6' 6" and incredibly hunky and muscular. loves to lift!! and at 299 pounds, he also loves the wrong foods and hates cardio. no longer. this was the ultimate wake up call, as brushes with death tend to be... he has already dropped 6 pounds, and is committed to following weight watchers and getting to a healthy weight.
later in the week, we are going to that gym to get one of those Inbody 320 bioimpedence scans. I really like this bioimpedence-mine correlates really well with calipers and with dexa scan. the thing that is cool about it, is that it calculates extracellular and intracellular water, so it helps you know when the body fat calc is off from bloating, etc. and the other thing it does is calculate your target weight. for me, they are targeting 23% body fat or around 145. I think this is absolutely accurate. so ed is looking forward to getting this done, because the charts say he needs to be around 215 or so to be at a normal BMI, which is preposterous given his extremely well developed, gorgeous, arms, chest, back, legs and ass. (can you tell I lust after my husband!!!)
when he was stable at the other hospital, and before this latest recrisis, he actually insisted that I keep my longstanding appointment with the body scanner, so I did that on feb 13, and followed it with a long, celebratory walk on the beach, which that morning, it was classic daytona hardpacked, wide sand. our beaches are famous, in fact, for being some of the best running/walking beaches in the world. they used to race cars on our beaches!
so nov 6 was my last scan, feb 13 was my most recent
Yikes! Glad it was nothing! It seems your husband now realizes he needs to make a change. With the both of you on the same page now, it should be easy for him.
