What a journey the last year has been. "Bytsi's Body Reshaping Log" is quite long and full of adventures, so I think it's time to start a new fresh log for 2009 - the Year of the Hamster
Starting pics and stats for the challenge will be added ASAP, but for now, just getting this up and running...
I'm 41, 5'2" and somewhere around 140-ish right now (140 today, but that's the result of a stomach flu). I have 2 kids (17-year-old daughter and almost-13-year-old son), a great husband, and 2 cute dogs. I used to weigh nearly 50# more, lost that weight 12 years ago. Then the scale slowly crept and crept... I've lost about 12# since May of last year and had some great body recomp, but I want to do even more this year.
Some "off the top of my head" goals:
1. Continue to develop a strong and athletic body. Improve bf% and just feel happier and more confident in how I look and feel.
2. Grow and learn in my training. I'll be checking out a new trainer who does Olympic lifts in a couple of days, and also kettlebells. I can't believe how much I learned last year, so the future is wide open. Just joined a new gym (while still keeping my old membership so I can still work out with my friend) with a lot of great equipment that I haven't had access to before.
3. Get my black belt in karate. I earned my Ik Kyu (1st degree brown belt) in Nov. 2008, and while I could really push and rush to try to test in the summer, I'm going to aim for National Weekend in Nov. 2009 to test for black
4. Find a job (CAREER) that is right for me. I am on an "involuntary indefinite sabbatical" as of December '08. Not sure if I want to continue in the direction I was heading, or veer off into uncharted waters. Figure it out, NOT take the first job that comes along just for the sake of taking something.
5. Have a more peaceful relationship with food and the scale. I've made big strides in this, but I want to continue to find a balance that isn't obsessive but isn't so loose that I fail to make progress.
New log name is perfect and I'm glad you kept a link to your old log so it doesn't drift off into oblivion. You never know when we'll want to refer back to it.
Happy New Year, Bytsi and good luck with the challenge and all of your 2009 goals!
Well, seems I feel ok if I sit. Not so great when I move around. Belly does NOT like any bouncing or movement today - more like it's sore after all the cramps and pain yesterday... We are supposed to go to two New Year's parties tonight - I really want to go too! H says we should just stay home - I'm leaning towards just going to one and settling in on their couch for the evening... I'm definitely NOT 100% yet after the bad flu yesterday

Thanks Kathy! I didn't want to start the log til I came up with a better name than the last one
And yeah - keeping the old one, with all the pics and drama... just for reference, right?

Thanks Jes - you - and everyone - here are so amazing and offer so much support - I love this place!
Subscribing! Your goals look great, I think 2009 will be a great year for you
And I might just have to copy you and make a new log... 30 pages of schtuff is too much for anyone to read through if they haven't kept up this entire time (and goodness knows I stink at keeping up with other logs as well!) Hmm.. time to think of a catchy new name...
I'm catching up here (but on the new log)... the new gym sounds great! I think H is right, you should take it easy tonight, but I understand the wanting to go out thing. No matter, whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy.
Just popping by to spread some good wishes for the New Year. May the new year bring with it some of what you wish for.
hey bytsi, love the new log. I'm also thinking of copying this idea. my 2009 goals are so different from my 2008 ones. hmmmmmmm. if I do, will definitely link the old one-that is a good idea.
love the new log name! hoping you're feeling better and get out tonight! we got the same crud from the relatives at christmas - three down for the first 24 hours and two more of us the second - poor hubby is just trying to hang in there and avoid it!
We went to two parties last night... I was far from 100% though - which was good and bad... I ate a little at the first party (probably a LOT more kcals than I realized) - some sloppy joe meat (no bun), a few meatballs, veggies with a little ranch, 2 cookies and 1/2 a brownie. Then I realized I had too much food for my system, and by the time we hit the 2nd party I ate nothing else... So - I was a bit of a couch-'tater but it was still fun. We left pretty early (12:30-ish) but at least my flu kept me from totally over-eating and getting 5000 kcals in, right?
Weighed, measured and pics DONE this morning. Will upload all and post in a little while.

Thanks Kara - my old log was around 60 pages, I think - yikes! I can ramble on a bit, eh?

Isn't being a mom of teenagers fun? My boys are 16 and 13. Fun times.
Oh yeah, fun... BOTH my kids were brats last night - wouldn't let me take a single family pic, and my DD actually hid under a countertop under a blanket to avoid letting me catch a pic of her hanging out with her friends at the 2nd party

Thanks Anne. It worked out ok in the end, and hopefully next year I'll feel up to enjoying it a bit more.

Thanks Wendy - I saw someone else (can't remember whom) do the link to their old log, so I can't take credit for the idea.

Happy New Year, Bytsi! I hope you're feeling better today--glad you were well enough yesterday to get to the parties though.
Your daughter sounds like my husband. I have about 30 Christmas pics of him from various years, either hiding under a blanket or with an arm thrown over his head. Grrr.

Very nice goals, Bytsi. I like the long-term planning and how well-thought out they are. Not that that matters, really, but that's what I look for in goals for myself, LOL .
