Weight still up (141.5), but I'm hoping to really get back into deficit by Weds... since I'll only have 3 low days (instead of the 4 I had been doing since I added another lift day back in)... I should be low tomorrow but it's a travel day (driving DS to camp - 6 hour drive - then back home again) and I know it's VERY hard for me to eat right when I'm in the car for 12 hours! I'll try, but I also have to forgive myself if I'm not "perfect"...

Lifted today - workout below...

Thanks Kathy... it's funny, I was talking with my DD (17) today and discussing how the scale lies when you carry a lot of muscle. I know I have fat too, but one of my biggest battles is not looking at Hollywood numbers or insurance charts and trying to fit into those limits...

Ok - Today's Workout

Without using a set program at the moment, I've decided to do most of my unilateral and non-Oly stuff on Saturdays, then do Oly-prep movements on Mondays, with my Jason sessions falling on Thursdays and my sprint day on Sunday... Karate is M/W (but not tonight) and I just do light LISS Tu... Friday off.

Warmup, then

Pullups - 10x1xbw

OH Squat
- 2x8x30# - do these EVER get any easier!?!?!?

FS - 8x65#, 5x95# (PR at that weight, but not really a PR)

Squat - 5x95#, 4x105# - this is SUCH a weak lift for me - I get so afraid of tipping fwd and hurting myself or getting stuck in the hole when I don't have a spotter, even though I'm in the rack with the bars set.

Clean Pull - 2x5x60 kg

GHR - 2x8 bw - used a different GHR machine today and it was much harder (less cushion) - will switch to this one for future GHRs...

Shoulder Press (behind head) - 8x45#, 2x5x65#

Incline DB Bench - 2x6x45#(e)

Cable Row - 8x42.5#(e), 6x50#(e)
When I was rowing, this older guy on the tricep machine said "you don't need to do all this work - you look lovely" - LOL! I wouldn't look "lovely" if I didn't work out

Skipped abs - tired... done!

True...

So... today's the 12 hours in the car day, taking DS to summer camp. I'm gonna miss the noisy smelly little dude . I managed to drag my butt onto the tmill for 30 min brisk incline walk, at least...

On the other hand, I'm a little tiny bit less worried about overeating cuz my stomach has decided that it hates traveling... as anyone at the Summit might remember, I tend to have a somewhat sensitive and reactive stomach... already hit one rest stop and we're only 90 minutes in... sigh...

BTW - WTF is up with the weird woman at the damn rest stop? I go in, and there are 5 booths - all completely empty. I take one... woman comes in, sees 4 open doors and has to come up and rattle my (locked) door. WTF!?!?!? Was I in her favorite booth or something???

I should sign off... but I am loving tech... being on my netbook in a moving car (DH is driving) is pretty damn awesome...

Hi Kristen

So... yesterday sucked. We didn't get home til midnight, I was SOOOOO sick of being in the car... My stomach finally settled, but we made quite a few unscheduled emergency stops before it calmed down... lunch was a dry english muffin and some applesauce . At least it dropped the scale down a bit for this morning - 140. Now to find my way back to weight loss instead of bloated maintenance after a week off...

Karate tonight. Miscellaneous NEAT today... that's about all...

Miss my little guy. Hope he's doing ok... one small cabin with 14 boys, 3 counselors and no heat or a/c !

Haven't checked my GWFit yet, but I don't think yesterday's burn was very good... a few moments of activity broken up by tons of ass-sitting. Bleh.

How old is your son? Mine is 5 and I can't imagine him ever leaving me. He won't right? I hear you about eating badly in the car. My favorite car foods are Combos, Nibs and Ginger Ale. YUM! but very very BAD.

Wow, how long is your son going for? How old is he? Right now it feels good to be too broke to afford camp...my oldest is 15 and it's feeling like he's leaving too soon anyway. I got kind of fond of him over the years.

LOL on the stupid woman at the rest stop--but can't help asking...you didn't take your netbook IN the stall, right? I am always grossed out by people talking on the phone in the bathroom. I guess they are very intimate with their friends, huh?

He's 13, so quite a bit older than yours... but wow is the house quiet without him . The dog is depressed... And the worst part is that my DD (17) leaves in 2 weeks... for 2 weeks there will be NO kids. Which should be great, but I'm getting a scary taste of what empty-nesting will be like... .

My fave travel foods are anything salty/crunchy/sweet/carb!
Yesterday after eating a dry english muffin and applesauce for lunch, I recovered and snacked on almonds and a protein bar before we finally ate dinner (turkey sandwich and salad, a little bit of soup) around 9pm... so overall I didn't do tons of damage BUT if I'd felt better, I can't say the outcome would've been the same .

He's going for a month (just under 4 weeks)... sigh... we actually got a lot of help from our temple and a first-time camper scholarship - which helped so much since DD is going to a different camp for the same amount of time (2 week overlap)...

And NO I didn't take my netbook (or phone) into the stall!!! EWWWWW!!!!!!

My friend's DS was dressed in drag for a college Halloween party. He put his phone in his "cleavage" and... it fell right into the toilet! That was a fun call home to mom to explain

Empty nesting? What's that? Do you mean that wonderful feeling of freedom that takes over when you realize your kids have grown into responsible adults and now the rest of your life is YOUR life to live as you please? Yeah, sucks.

So... I was back up to 142 this morning. Got me REALLY pissed off, and thinking "I should just throw in the towel, this is stupid, I'll NEVER get to my goal..." -- BUT -- then I went to put my rings on, and I could barely shove them past my swollen fingers... SO... I'm guessing that damn late-night dinner on Tuesday on the way home was salt-laden.

I've been as-salt-ed!!!!!!

Ugh.

At least I understand... although I STILL think it sucks royally that 1-2 days off deficit can put me up 5#, but even a week back at deficit doesn't take them back off!!!

Lifting with Jason later. Maybe I'll sweat it off.

I really really miss the little guy. He's SOOO loud and full of energy and activity, and the house is soooooooooooo quiet without him

I guess I'm not ready yet. I miss him. I'm gonna REALLY be at loose ends when both of 'em are at camp at the same time (although the 17-year-old is rarely home, and nowhere near as loud as her little brother).

The dogs are SOOOOO depressed... especially the younger dog that is "his" dog.

Empty Nest for 2 weeks? SOOOOO jealous! Last week DD was on her class trip to DC & NY and DS went away for 3 days. It was weird, but in a nice way!

It is weird... and I am surprised, honestly, by how much I do miss him. I thought it'd be great to not worry, but I still worry... and it's just too quiet.

Whoosh!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, today was crap until my lift. I had to take DH's car in, and I had said it needs new tires (he has special order tires on it) so please pre-order AND I was promised a loaner car. When I got there, they checked it in and said "OMG you have no tread left!" -- DUH!!!! That's why I said order the tires. Which they hadn't . So they went to try to find some...

THEN the rental place (Enterprise) was out of cars - WTF!?!? . Why make a reservation if they don't honor it!??!?! They said 45 min and they'd have one, so I went to cool my heels - didn't even have a book with me cuz I wasn't planning to sit there.

Then they said they couldn't get his tires in til next week... which I had already guessed, but ARGH!!!!

The rental car never arrived, so I sat for 2 1/2 hours. Without breakfast (cuz I had planned to get some when I went to run all my errands in the non-existant rental car).

By the time I left (11:30) I was starved... and it started to pour... and while I have at least 4 umbrellas in my car, DH apparently has - none! Got soaked, but finally got my food...

Then went to Oly with Jason - and had a decent (dripping, sweating, shaking, vomitastic) workout... feeling better afterwards

Warmup - OH Squats with broomstick and shoulder mobility work

25# bar - clean to push press to OH squat to front squat - 3 sets of 3x through combination.

Snatch - 5x25#, 2x4x35#
Good news - they ordered the 10kg bars - not in yet, but hopefully soon! And Jason says my form is improving...

C&J - 5x20 kg, 5x25 kg, 5x30 kg, 3x3x35 kg
Really focused on squeezing the bar off the ground then accelerating with the shrug instead of trying to pull too fast right off the ground - seemed to make a little progress in this

Front Squat
- 2x8x65#, 6x75#

DB Complex - 3sets of 6(e) with 12.5#(e) upright row, snatch, squat to push press, bent row, snatch.

Abs - variations with med ball, windshield wipers, etc...

Done.

One other thing... a trainer quit at the gym where Jason is... he mentioned it to me (since I haven't heard back on the other job) and introduced me to the training coordinator... considering applying for it...

I have learned to really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY hate Enterprise. Really. I don't think there's been a time when they weren't a total pain in our ass. We've even done different ones around town, you know, in case it's just an incompetent bunch of douchetards at this one… or that one… or the other one… but I'm pretty sure that there is a requirement of "complete nincompoop" in order to get a job there… at least at any in NC…

Aoife - I don't see how they can 1) run out of cars that are RESERVED, and 2) say it'll be 30-45 minutes while they go pick up a car, then NEVER actually get one! Enterprise SUCKS!!!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie and that scene. And yes, that pretty much sums up my state of mind this morning

I will probably apply for the trainer job. I mean... it's almost walkable (not quite, but 3 min in the car) and I could mostly set my own schedule, and it's not like job offers have poured in since DECEMBER when I lost my job... . Besides, working as a trainer's good NEAT, right?

And you could bike to work.

Well... I could bike TO work... but the biggest freakin' hill in town is between here and the gym. If I made it downhill without dying (I'm a wimpy bike-rider), I'd have to walk the bike back up cuz I could never make it up that mile-long steep-incline hill!!!
But I promise if I get the job I'll be on my feet all day, setting weights and torturing people and stuff...

Yeah definitely bad start to the day. I would have been crazy!!!

On the job note, though, VERRRRY cool! That could be a perfect fit, either for the moment, or longer term. Ooh, let us know how this pans out!

Hey, never say never, baby! The hill behind my house (dirt road, not hiking hill) is way steep and 2 miles long, and I can FINALLY make it up without stopping! Now THAT would be some NEAT, lol!

That happened to a business associate and myself one night in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our flight was delayed (and as I've been in the travel business) I called the Winnipeg office directly and told them we were running late - not to give the damn car away. And yes, got the woman's name. So when we got there, no car, same stupid girl. She offered to put us in a cab (and get us a car in the morning), until I told her we were driving another 4 hours into the US. Suddenly there was a car.

The big issue is that they don't charge no show fees. Business travellers are the worst. They'll book one company, but if they pass someone else in the airport first they'll stop and get a car there. So the other company has a no show. This constant kind of stuff leads to them ALL overbooking, assuming a certain percentage of no shows. Which works okay until something is going on in their city and there are too few cars.

Of course, this crap shouldn't happen in a city rental place, but it almost seems like they use the same reservation algorithm.

Sounds like a plan. I think it would be something that you enjoy. And if nothing else, something to do until you find something else.
