142 again this morning. Whatever.

Back from the gym - had a very good cardio workout but a strange start to it...

I was doing my usual tmill intervals, starting with 20 min of walk 1 min 3.7, run 1 min 5.2, 5.4, etc up to 7. ANYWAY - at about minute 7/8, all of a sudden my heart starts racing WAY faster than required for the effort I was making - it was around 200. Yikes! Usually even doing max sprints I only get to around 170-ish... So I stopped... didn't feel bad or anything, but just could feel it kinda almost in my throat... after about 2 minutes it dropped back down. I started up again and ended up having a great workout, but... weird!!! A run of SVT's or something else??? If it happens again I'll get it checked...

Anyway - after the restart I did 20 MORE minutes of walk/run (really only had about 10-12 min left but the tmill had reset itself). Did:
6.2
6.4
6.6
6.8
6.0
6.2
6.4
6.6
6.4
6.2
THEN
walk 90, sprint 30 seconds at:
7.5
8
8.5
9
10 (Yes 10!!!!). Glad I didn't fall off the tmill - I think that's my sprint limit!!!

Then walked 20 at 3.1 with 6 incline... Total 60 minutes.

Done!

That's hilarious! LOL. How cute! (Oops, response to Aoife's advice).

Wow, Bytsi, that heart racing thing would spook me.

ROFL...I thought I was the only one who called my trainer a sadist.

That was one HELL of a workout woman...and then you suggested he do it to you again?? A woman after my own heart.

About the heart rate...are you sure it really went up? Was there someone next to you with a monitor on too? Sometimes they cross and screw up your reading on the machine....was it the treadmill or your HR monitor that registered it? Scary stuff!!!

It spooked me a little, but since I felt ok and it went right back down, I figured I'd see if it happened again - at least for today, it didn't...

What can I say, Kristen - for every sadist, there must be a masochist, right?

As for the HR - I FELT it, so I stopped and checked my pulse - it wasn't on the monitor... sigh... I could feel it right in my throat and the upper middle of my chest, pounding... very strange cuz I felt ok but just not right, if that makes sense. My H agreed that unless it happens a few times, there's nothing to worry about... Probably just some SVT's...

I promise to tell the doc if it happens again though! The fitness attendants at the old gym (where I was today) haven't recerted in CPR in... years and years... they did it once about 7-8 years ago and my friend (who works there) hasn't had to go again since!!

I had to go look up what SVTs were, but you definitely should keep an eye on it. Like Kristen, I was thinking it was just the monitor. Hope it was a one time occurrence.

A while back I posted about the same thing. Every once in a while mine still races up over 200. At first I thought it was my HR monitor, but sometimes I can feel it so I know its happening. I have been meaning to call my doctor, but then it won't happen for a few months. Keep an eye on it. It might be nothing. A good friend had a bought of palpitations a month ago and went to the doctor. They couldn't tell her why it was happening but told her to lay off caffeine and alcohol for a while. Sometimes there can be an imbalance in sodium/potassium that can cause palpitations so I try to keep an eye on those. If you find anything out let me know. I am curious!

Nice intervals - and WOOOHOOO on the 10!!! Niiiice!

Scary about the funky heart rate - I've had that happen once or twice over the years - it's actually happened to me while I've been plopped on the couch! Just all of a sudden. I've had a baseline EKG at the doc, and nothing out of the ordinary! Definately keep an eye on it!

Just catching up on logs...and man, you've been doing great! Awesome intervals! Sorry about the heart thing--take care of yourself.

141.5. Better, but still 1/2# above where I started this challenge, which was 2# above my November weight...

Total lack of movement today... DS had some tests done which meant 4+ hours sitting next to him at the hospital while he was hooked up to iv's and crap... Then we got some lunch, and now he's now sleeping it off - hope he wakes up soon (it's almost 5pm)! We're back home, and I did stroll at 2mph while typing on the tmill for 1 hour, and hope I can get to karate tonight. Other than that, serious lack of NEAT or any other movement today.

Thanks - that 10 was tough - I was seriously hoping not to face-plant with my stubby little legs trying to keep up!

Hope the hubby is ok! Lol about the face plant...that's why I am too scared to try running...(not good for the knees anyway) but I'm sure it wouldn't be pretty. 10 is pretty serious runnage there!!!!

Actually not my H - my DS (son) had the tests done... we'll get results in a week (hopefully BEFORE we leave on vaca!!!). Just more of his ongoing health issues, but "good luck" wishes are always appreciated.

Here's hoping the heart racing was a one time deal! Good luck with DS's test results. NICE job with the intervals. Too funny on Aoife's advice.

There. I think that about covers it LOL... I was a little behind!

141 today. This is just SOOOOO weird. I have not been 100% compliant, although I've been logging everything - but I've been going 100-200 over on my cals and my macros yesterday were crap. But here I am doing a slooooooow whoosh over the past few days - down 1/2# the last 3 or 4 days in a row... Which is GOOD - but weird. Can't explain it. Wouldn't it be nice if compliance actually corresponded to the scale???
Still not 139, like I was before December hit, but at least not still going up up up up. 2-week vaca starting this weekend... looking forward to it but also a bit worried about what it'll do to the scale.

Lifting scheduled today, heading out in a few, then running around all day, so not sure when I'll sign back on to log stuff...

Hey, take a whoosh whenever it comes, be it fast or slow LOL... but YES, it would be nice if whooshes always corresponded with compliance, wouldn't it? The body is beyond our comprehension sometimes!

Hope you have a great workout today!

Wow I totally missed the 10 on the treadmill part. That's awesome! I get funny looks at 8.5! I must be making a lot of noise or something. Oh and I had a dream last night that my gym got fancy new treadmills like your gym has with the dvd players. Who dreams about treadmills, seriously?

And I am super jealous about your trip. I hope you can just relax and enjoy your time not worrying too much about food and exercise. I need to tell myself that when I am on vacation, too.

Taylor gave him lots of cuddling and then built a huge pile of stuff (including my shoes and workout bag) at the top of the stairs so it wouldn't happen again. Poor guy...

Yeah, glad for the slow whoosh but your body is just so strange! I sure can't figure you out!

Hey, Celeste, you're going to give Bytsi more heart palpitations! You have to break these things gently....

Bodies are definitely weird. I think they operate more on chaos theory than on simple mathematics! Hey, have an awesome time on that vacation, though. You're in such a great place in terms of getting your body in shape, you can afford to make some indulgent eating choices here and there . You'll do great! Just listen to your body. (I mean, its nutritional needs, as well as its lust for dark chocolate !)

Thanks Chloe and Celesete and Kara - yes, I AM nuts. 10 was FAST and I definitely couldn't have gone 10.1 without falling... guess I was just in the mood to see what would happen
Not being a regular treadmill-user, I completely missed that this was the SPEED ! Holy cow, woman, you're amazing!

We are all a little crazy aren't we?

Hey Bytsi congrats on the mini woosh and on the 10 interval. I don't even think my legs can keep up with a 10. LOL!
