Damn it cyberspace ate my reply.

1. Don't worry about tendon rupture; it happens but rarely
2. It will feel better if it's full of pus to drain it. Antibiotics don't do the trick if there's a giant pus pocket there.

Well it seems better this morning. I gave it a good soaking in epsom salts last night and then I bandaged it up so that it was cushioned during the night. I took some benadryl and went to bed and slept verrrry soundly... a little too soundly actually. I was late to work this morning.

OOPS.

Sorry to hear about the finger.

Ooops on the late for work, but I bet the extra sleep was good for you!

Yeah I was not looking forward to that. At least I can bend the finger this evening. At one point this afternoon, I had a teeny furnace going on in the finger. It was really cool. The body is really amazing.

Maybe it's cuz I'm a dude, but "lance" just sounds like a really cool thing to do with infected body parts. It's like popping bubble wrap.

Why anyone would want to do this, I don't know. Bob told me he found a bunch of Zit poping videos on Youtube. I just thought it was gross.

I'm pro-popping as well but I'm glad it's improving for now!

I'm the Pus Queen, prone to all sorts of nasty infected things. I like to do the epsom salt soaks, followed by a good poking with a sharp, (mostly) sterile object to drain. I'll do anything to stay away from docs, though.

I'd probably stay away from the doctor if I could. That's just me. It's kind of a funny story but I first met my family doctor while in the hospital. Years earlier, I needed a family doctor for a form at the dentist. I didn't have one, but my mother's doctor said he'd take me on as a patient (in our area, where we were new, this was a big deal).

7 or 8 years later I had an issue that landed me in the hospital. I'd gone to a clinic over the weekend and they pretty much insisted I go to the emergency. So, a few days later a very nice man came into the room, introduced himself. Yep, my family doctor. He did make me promise to come see him once I was out. I did, twice I think. Although I seem to think I should probably go back sometime in the next little while.... maybe....

I haven't been happy with the doctor I had on the last round of insurance. She was a GP and always talked to me like I was 12. I have a little more freedom with my insurance this year. They've dumped the HMO and taken everyone up to a PPO so we have a little more freedom.

This has been a sucky afternoon.

Wow... gotta bookmark this page next time I need my appetite killed!!!!

When we were in college, my not-yet-husband sliced his fingertip off (instead of the apple he was slicing - with a pocketknife). Stitches ensued, including some through his fingernail. I got woozy, he was fascinated, discussing technique with the ER doc... men are weird!

I am glad that it's a three day weekend. I really don't want a freaking repeat of this week any time soon.

New holiday - do tell? Just interested, not that it would apply to me here anyway.

I think I answered my own question, but lookie at the link I found:

http://www.web-holidays.com/calendar/index.htm

Tomorrow is national hot buttered rum day.... rambling on - I used to have a book of toasts (different reasons to celebrate and raise a glass)

just MLK day - we don't get it at this company

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a United States holiday marking the birthdate of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., observed on the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King's birthday, January 15. It is one of three United States federal holidays to commemorate an individual person.[1]
King was the chief spokesman of the nonviolent civil rights movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. He was assassinated in 1968.
The campaign for a federal holiday in King's honor began soon after his assassination. Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed in 1986. At first, some states resisted observing the holiday as such, giving it alternative names or combining it with other holidays. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

That's what I thought (after I asked). Our province celebrates a 'Family Day' in February, but since it's not a federal holiday, the government employees will be working it. This makes up for the fact that they generally get more holidays anyways.

I didn't get the holiday until I left the private sector. I was talking to a Sgt Mjr and the Sgt 1st Class I work with about MLK. We are all in our fifties and were marveling about how much MLK did at a young age.

It's actually much better and if I would have had a clear point at which lance the dang thing I would have. Three more days of Antibiotics to take tho.

Got a rocking night's sleep last night after watching Fight Club (which I should have seen wayyyyy earlier in my movie watching career than I did). Today Bob and I have been loafing around my place and I've been taking pictures of multitudes of small plastic pigs playing Scrabble. not sure what we are going to do with the rest of the day, but I am happy that I'm getting stuff done.

Tis time to get off my ass and go outside. It's too nice to be cooped up indoors all day.

I never get holidays off--that's when people ski of course! But I'm not actually scheduled, I just hang out and help where needed, teach lessons, that kind of good stuff.

Cool new pig pics!

Yesterday afternoon was gorgeous I ended up going over and working in the Garden over at Bob's Mom's Place.

Trying to come up with a good Name for my Etsy Shop.

I'm not feeling very creative in that regards, however, I've managed to work myself 2/3 of the way through deck of cards that come with Rush Hour.
