Nice workout!

PS, I was just thinking about ya... I'm drinking some Teavana Energy Chocolate Chai tea, and it is sooo yummy! What's your tea inventory look like these days?

Hey Kara - here's my "inventory"!

Day one of low carb was a success! I was never overly hungry, and the food was great! DH was not able to find lobster tail and clams yesterday (he went to BJ's instead of a "regular" grocery store) so we "settled" for King Crab Legs for dinner last night! YUMMMMM!

Today we started with breakfast burritos (low carb tortillas filled with eggs/egg whites, mushrooms, peppers, onions, feta cheese and salsa) and I'm StUFFED!! On the menu for the rest of the day is a big bowl of homemade veggie soup and smoked turkey breast for lunch, and dinner will be blackened tilapia fillets, steamed fresh broccoli and a spring mix salad. YUMMY!

I'm planning on taking down the Christmas tree and all of the other decorations, so I'll be getting lots of NEAT in today. I'm also going to do a short interval session on the treadmill.

I'm a seafood FREAK! The only thing I really don't like is oysters! But anything else......
I can't wait until this summer! We will have a seasonal camping spot right on the Chesapeake Bay, and my brother in law is THE ULTIMATE fisherman/crabber - and they will be visiting us A LOT!! He can pop the boat right into the water, put out his crab pots, and VOILA - DINNER!

Yeah - my collection is a little overwhelming! LOL But it helps keep me on track when I can have teas like Pistachio Apple Pie and Cocao Mint! YUMMMY! I highly recommend them, and you can order online if there isn't a store near you!

So far so good! DH and I just had a snack of a glass of white wine and cheese - he said "This dieting stuff SUCKS!" NOT! And while I will miss the big plates of spaghetti and meatballs for a while, I don't feel like I'm "dieting" and so far I havent' felt deprived!

I'll post my food now and again - hope you get some good ideas!!

Today's Workout
30 mins intervals on treadmill
5 min warmup
20 mins of 2 mins @4.5mph / 2 mins @ 3mph
5 min cooldown

30 mins of Yoga

Also lots of NEAT going on today. We are officially UN-decorated, which involved multiple trips up and down the stairs to the basement, as well as a couple of trips down the hill to the shed to store the tree and some of the outside decorations. And there will be some additional NEAT going on this evening as I feel the need to kick DH's ass in Wii bowling!!

Yum, nice looking dinner! Hey, you just reminded me that I have tilapia in my freezer. And fresh green beans in the fridge. How is cooking with macadamia nut oil? I have five gallons of it in my laundry room...I've only used it for making lotion and soap. It is food grade and I know it is supposed to be good for cooking, but I just hadn't thought of it. Oh, that and I my bf is allergic to pretty much all nuts, deathly so to some. Another reason I might not actually cook with it. But do you notice a real flavor difference in the foods? I know my oil has a sort of sweet, nutty smell to it. Sometimes, most of the time, I am just cooking for myself so just curious.

Your dinner looks absolutely delicious! I love tilapia. Actually I love all fish and could probably eat it every day. It sounds weird but when I go lower carb I seem to have trouble getting in all my veggies. You look like you are doing great on that!

Great looking meal! Yumm. It's nice that you and your Dh are doing the low-carb thing together. It would make things much easier for me if mine would join me

Unfortunately, he beat me this time - BUT I'm blaming it on the cat, who kept jumping off the couch and getting right in my way as I was trying to play!

Cooking with the oil, we don't really notice much of a flavor difference. But we also love to drizzle it on either spring mix salad or baby greens with a raspberry red wine or raspberry balsamic vinegar and then you can taste the difference!

Hi Leah! We are definately trying to focus on getting in lots of veggies. Making that big pot of soup is helping - having a big bowl of that every day with lunch! YUM!

I'm glad he was ready to go on the same program as me - we've done a lot of "you do this, and I'll do that" and it's hard to coordinate meals.

I managed to score a Wii Fit this morning!!! WOOOOT!! The local Walmart ad had them listed at $89.79 and the sale started today. I got up this morning and called the closest store, and they had 20 of them. We decided to just jump in the truck and go get one - good thing, too, since by the time I got there (like 15 mins after I called) there were already 3 people I passed on my way in that were on their way out with one in their hands!!!

Here's some workout info from yesterday and today:

Saturday
40 mins SS treadmill
2.16 miles total

Today

Dynamic Warmup
10 reps of each
  • Jumping Jacks
  • Arm Circles
  • Lunge
  • Body Weight Squat
  • Hip Extension
  • Lying Straight-Leg Raise
  • Pushup Plus (on knees)
  • Thoracic Rotation
  • Fire Hydrant In-Out
  • Groiners
And then the workout:
Alternating Sets w/45 sec rest
1A - Dumbbell Step Ups
15eax8's
15eaX8's
1B - Neutral Grip Shoulder Press
15x12's
15x12's
Alternating Sets w/45 sec rest
2A - Goblet Squat
15x12
15x12
2B - Dumbbell Pullover
15x8's
15x8's
3 - Plank
65 seconds
57 seconds

I finished up with lots of stretching.

Thanks Karen! I've been having fun with it!

So, here are details for yesterday:

AM
30 min "wake up" walk on treadmill
PM
45 mins treadmill - 2.54 miles total
5 min warmup
25 mins of intervals (2 mins @ 4.5mph/ 2 mins @ 3mph)
10 mins @ 3.5mph
5 mins cooldown

Then after dinner - some Wii Fit!!

It was also my first day back to work since Dec 19! UGH!! I'm having a really hard time getting motivated! And I have to say, I'm kinda worried about staying employed!

I had been a developer for the past 15+ years, and a year ago I kinda saw the writing on the wall as less and less work was coming in to our development team, so I took a new position within my company in Project Management. Now, since what I'm doing is totally based on new clients, I'm a little concerned since the ecomony SUCKS big time! I currently have one client and that project, as of this morning, has been placed on hold because they filed Chapter 11! My manager has a meeting tomorrow to discuss any potential new business, so I'll wait until tomorrow and see what happens at her meeting, but I'm worried!

I've actually been looking into things like Medical Transcription and Paralegal stuff - which would require me to go back to school for a while, but I need to be prepared should I get the axe!!!

I'm off to get my "wake up" walk in, and then this afternoon will be a weight workout.

Yay on the Wii fit... we love ours! I got it for my birthday last June, and for Christmas I got the Jillian Michaels game. I've only tried it once so far, but it looks like it will be fun.

Good luck with your job... I'll keep my fingers crossed that there is good news there.

I spent a few years as an MT and it was great. Then the whole industry did a bit of changing and, from what I hear from current MTs, it now sucks in many aspects.

Congrats on the Wii Fit!

Hopefully I won't have to change careers! The thought of having to go back to school kinda makes me cringe!!

I'm soooo not a fan of the high rep workouts, and seriously was thinking of just moving on to the next group of exercises that are lower reps - and then Wendy popped into my head! And I decided to join Wendy in the Pain Cave! I'm going to finish these workouts! I've finished the first week - only three more weeks - I CAN DO IT!!

And now for some food porn:

This is a FABULOUS Coconut Macadamia Nut salmon that DH made:

And here is a chicken stir fry:

And a yummy steak w/portabello mushrooms and melted cheese and a big salad:

Love the food pictures. Is that what a pretty oak table looks like? My poor table has to be covered with a table cloth. My son is still messy when he eats and he's 12!

More delicious food!

I am not a big fan of high reps either - I did my first NROL fat loss 3 workout last night and there are 20 reps! Gross. The rest of it I don't mind, but that part sucks!

Congrats on the Wii Fit!
I used to do MT years ago, too, and have a friend who still loves it. But, from what I hear, working in a hospital with your job dependent on your word count sucks.
