Lori said it well. None of us started off lifting big weights... when I first started working out, I did a lot of bicep curls with 5# weights (and that was the majority of my workout!) because I wanted my arms to look nice. I've come a LONG way from there!!! Just keep doing whatever makes you more active, Wii included. That's the first - and biggest - step. If the other stuff starts to interest you, great. If not, you're being active and getting healthier. That's the whole point.
(However, those of us in -6 weather here WILL hate you if you complain about it hitting 48 )
I was going to say that I am not embarrassed to admit that I used the wii to work out today but I read Lori's log, and Bytsi's hamster log, and Celestial moms...
and now I am embarrassed again.
I can't read anymore!
It is tooo cold for me to think about going outside. When it drops below eighty I get chili and below seventy, I freeze. It is 48 out there now, in the after noon!
Running in place and getting hit in the head with pandas will have to do for today.
Oh, I did haul some broken limbs out of the pasture yesterday. That makes me feel better.
Oh my goodness, DON'T be embarrassed! Now I'm embarrassed to see people saying things about me like that! Do you know that every time I had a baby I used to work out for a couple weeks and then quit because I HATE to sweat?! And it was too hard...and I was too busy...and I was too (insert whine here...). It took until I was almost 40# overweight to actually do something about where I was, and from what I remember, you are thin, just working on getting fitter. We are all at different places, have varying motivations, and different goals. I say the wii thing is cool and I'm slightly jealous!!

Seriously, I think it's a character flaw of mine that I am constantly comparing myself to other people, so I totally hear you on this. I am REALLY trying to work on this, because I know that all it does is stress me out and make me feel like I should be (fill in the blank) stronger, thinner, a better mom.... etc. The list goes on. I'm trying to see things from a more optimistic perspective.... like when I look at Bytsi's log or Celeste's log and see how strong they are, I remind myself that they got that way from hard work over a period of time... and that's something I can do too, if I set my mind to it. Try not to let it stress you, and PLEASE don't be embarrassed! You're HERE.
What she said. Except I compare myself to Bytsi and the Oly lifting gals, it's really a bad habit for all of us. We should be comparing ourselves to ourselves, no one else.

When I started out, I could only manage 1 minute, 45 seconds on the elliptical. Now I'm a spinning instructor. Took 3 years to get there, but I did it. Point being, we all start somewhere.

I often fall into the same trap of comparing myself to others and of course when I do that I usually come up short in my own mind. There are people here who are faster than me, who lift more than me, who are more coordinated than I am, who have better kinesthetic memory than I do.... The list goes on and on.
Sometimes when I feel silly posting, like I'm not good enough, I tell myself that maybe there is somebody reading who will relate to what I am writing for that very reason -- that I'm not perfect. I know that sometimes the posts I get the most help from are the posts where people are imperfect and human and struggling.

Hi, Do you remeber me? LJ had me dancing till I was exhausted and it kinda felt like a work out. Does that count? By the way, SpaceCity Paula grows a mean jalapaņo.
Once you post in someone's log (or any post it automatically subscribes you). You can manually subscribe under thread tools at the top right. Then when you click 'User CP' on the top left it will show you any threads you're subscribed to that have new posts. However, on the rare times that I have free time I'll often subscribe to new logs. My problem is that I tend to be a little shy and unless I have something to add will often lurk for ages.

I'm a lurker, too -- been here two years and still have a low post count . . .
Don't let His Chum fool ya' - she may not post much, but she's works a lot. It may not include free weights, but she's can wrangle livestock with the best of 'em!

Yes the dancing counts as a workout..... and glad you liked the jalepenos. I'm sure I will have more soon (not to mention Zucchini and Cucumbers).
Sometime in the future, I'd like to come and phtograph your livestock I've never seen mini cattle before
