Default Getting organized...

Hey there,
No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Christmas was great and I'm glad I took my rest week then, it has turned into a week and a half but I'm planning on getting back at it this week. I've been doing the big purge of kids toys and clothes to make room for new stuff which took up most of yesterday and today I've been moving furniture etc.; I've got an exercise room now so I had to carry all my weights and bench up from the garage (two flights of stairs) - I'm calling that my workout for today!

Thanks for the tips on the HRM!

That definitely sounds like enough of a workout for the day. Glad you had a good week off though!

Just popping by to spread some good wishes for the New Year. May the new year bring with it some of what you wish for.

Default Stage 3 - 3A - back on track...

Happy New Year all! Had company for dinner, pretty tame (had a little wine and actually forgot about the champagne).

Just finished this workout:
A - one-armed d/b snatch - 20, 6x, ES (ES = each side) - 3 sets
alt w/ rests:
B1 - d/b single leg romanian deadlift - 20 (x2), 6x ES - 3 sets
B2 - barbell bent overrow - 6x/6x/6x
alt w/ rests:
C1 - d/b single-arm overhead squat - 10 & 20, 6x ES - 3 sets
C2 - d/b incline bench press - 20 (x2), 6x - 3 reps
alt w/ rests:
D1 - plank - 60 sec/60 sec/50 sec
D2 - reverse wood chop standing (no cable) - 20 (1), 6x ES - 3 reps
Body Matrix
24 squats
12 lunges EL
12 lunge jumps EL
24 squat jumps
first time round: 3:25
Second time: 2:54
These are soooooo brutal, I was shaking afterwards! Feels good after the fact of course.

I think I've put on a few pounds over the holidays from the usual (too much food, junk, snacks, beer). I don't really believe in resolutions but it is my plan to start eatting healthier (and making my hubby do the same)...I've been reading about some different plans and haven't narrowed it down yet. I'm very curious about OPT...realcdn I see your starting that I'll have to watch and see what you think.

Hi there! Just catching up on your progress in NROL4W--good workouts and great job staying consistent with two little ones! I can identify (I have four kids but they're getting a little more manageable now that they're older, and one is even a teen!)

I think the program is solid. For me I just needed a little more structure for a bit, so it was a good option. We'll see how it goes.

Default Stage 3, 3B...

Well I must say that this workout is so not motivating and I find it really boring, looking forward to the next stage that is for sure. Put youngest down for a nap and 3 year old is watching cartoons and playing in the playroom next to me, so we will see how our new set up is (we used to have each boy in their own room and then a playroom with my elliptical in it (and my weights in the basement). We've always thought we might have the boys share a room so we went ahead and put them together and then have one room as just a playroom and the old playroom is not a workout room. It's working wonderfully during the day but the nights are soooooo brutal, so I'm not sure it will last. Lots of getting up by my 3 year old when he hears his brother breathing or turning over - hopefully he will get used to it - he says he likes sharing a room with him when we ask.
Workout:
A - barbell romanian deadlift - 75 pounds, 6x, 3 reps
alt w/ rest:
B1 - partial single leg squat - 6x each leg - 3 reps
B2 - pulldowns - 10 pounds (x2), 6x - 1 rep/20 pounds (x2), 6x - 2 reps
alt w/ rest
C1 - prone cobra - 60 sec - 32 reps
C2 - YTWL - 5 pounds (x2), 6x - 3 reps; this felt hard today!
Got interupted here by my son and told him I'd only be 15 more minutes so instead of doing the following exercises which I get bored with I did the 15 minute intervals on the elliptical (1 min on level 8 then 2 min on level 3 alternating for 15 minutes total). HRM says burned 300 calories.
Didn't do these (I don't feel like they do anything anyways):
alt w/ rest:
D1 - inclined reverse crunch
D2 - prone jackknife
D3 - lateral hanna 3

My hubby and I are starting to count (and cut) calories to see if we can get our eating back on track and then maybe follow some other program later, if I find something worthwhile. He works long days away from home and has 15 pounds to loose. I input some info to sparkspeople.com and I'll likely continue to use that program.

Celestialmom - thanks for the encouragement, it is kinda tough sometimes to get it done or have to quit part way through, I'm the type of person that if I don't get to the end I can beat myself up about it - so I try to not think that way.

Wow I would be embarrased to actually be doing this body matrix in front of someone or to be working out at a gym - I'm very thankful to be working out at home while doing these. I skipped the plank and reverse wood chop cause I thought my little guy was going to wake up and wanted to make sure I got through the matrix.
I've been carefully counting calories and my scale moved (yesterday morning after breakfast it showed 129!), I went up to 134 over Christmas (I think due to more adult beverages than the norm - beer here beer there, wine here wine there, etc.). However it went up again today to 133 with the arrival of TOM I guess
These are soooooo brutal, I was shaking afterwards! Feels good after the fact of

If you don't like Stage 3, then you won't like Stage 5....it's a repeat of Stage 3.

I've hurt my arm, don't know how but I've been having problems with my right arm since last Thursday. I can put pressure on it but am having a hard time lifting anything in it over a couple pounds. I've decided to wait a bit and see if it gets better before lifting again. I did 25 minutes of intervals on my elliptical today. I'm really disappointed, I hate having injuries! Well...who likes it?

I'm sorry your arm is hurt--yes, injuries are so annoying. I really hope it heals up quick.
