The Communist section was the height of the hedonist tour. It was the major drug market at that time. When we hit Amsterdam, we were forbidden to go there. This made it irresistable to us.

Default Workout

Friday, 10/24/08: Full-body stretch. Enjoyed, but would have gone on longer if I didn't still have company.

Saturday, 10/25/08: Circuit. This is the 3rd time I've done this circuit and each time I've found out more information about me and the Front Squat/Push Press.
  1. Tops of shoulders sore for 2 days. Finally figured out that it was directly from where the bar was positioned & I needed some padding.
  2. Put padding over shoulders & worked like a charm. Then found that after workout my R. wrist next to the ulna was sensitive & clicky during spiral forearm movement. Thought this was a combination of weights & being on the computer too much.
  3. Found that after this workout, the L. wrist now had sensitivity the same way as the R.
Conclusion: Front Squat/Push Press with the BB needs human interactive training before I do it again. Wrists flexibility is not an issue. I believe the issue is the timing of rolling the bar into my palm for the push press such that I don't put undue strain on my wrists. Since I don't seem to do this naturally, I'm going to do the last workout with DBs because I don't wish to injure my wrists.

Circuit x3 (2-minute rest in between)
  • BB Front Squat/Push Press: 50 lbs x 5
  • Swiss-ball Rollout: BW x 5 (232)
  • Assisted Chin-up (feet on ground): BW x 4½, 3½, 5 (113)
  • Swiss-ball Side Raise (all reps R then L): BW x 5 (222)
  • Swiss-ball Jackknife (to pike w/ feet on ball): BW x 5 (222)
Still had company & did it anyway. Husband & cousin's husband came to 'visit' during cool down. I'm glad I was finished.

I can't possibly see how you could have any flexibility issues.

You know if I had lost flexibility, I would have lost my damn mind shouting that all up in here and that it needed to be fixed pronto.

With all the perimenopausal "events" I have been tracking over the past year, I can't say just what I'll "discover" day-to-day. On the plus side, I can see that I am physically strong & fast, my newfound active glutes have strengthened my dance technique, and I look fabulous. The rest of it is just "oh what do I observe today?" I feel like my own mad scientist -- tracking & plotting. I need to find a naturopathic doctor here.

Got my voter registration card today (how convenient). So I couldn't do early voting. Hope I don't have to clown over some voter shenanigan shit with my out-of-state driver's license.

Did a workout today. Ya'll are getting the short version.

Workout 3 of 4 (done at home)
Circuit x3 with 2-minute rest between circuits then finisher with 1-min rest between sets
  1. DB 1-armed Snatch: 23 lbs
  2. Lateral Swiss Ball Roll (232): BW
  3. Windmill Lunge (211): C1&2: 6 lbs (e); C3: 5 lbs (e)
  4. 2-Point DB Row (222): C1: 15 lbs; C2&3: 20 lbs
  5. Swiss-Ball Alternating Wood Chop (222): 10 lbs
Finisher: Prone Cobra: S1: 2 min S2: 45 sec (really need a good song for this. 1st set had a good song. 2nd set song TOO SLOW & I QUIT).
Found my jump rope & used it during my pre-workout warm-up. With the pre-workout dance & jump rope and post-workout dancing, this workout burned 795 cal in 1 hr 23 min.

Turning into a high-falluting hermit.

Did a low impact aerobic workout with my husband yesterday (only because he said yes). And had fun. Went to get a massage today in town (and won't be going back there). They "tore up" my upper back/shoulders (good) but just ain't worth a crap on glutes/hamstrings.

Intending to do either yoga or next circuit tomorrow so I can keep my mind off the tv/internet.

Just checking in with you Tracey - you seem to be far to vivacious a person to be a hermit.. well, for long anyhow.

I've thought about that since I wrote it yesterday. Voted this morning and still kept thinking about it. Went out this afternoon and stopped by the Urban League on the way home for a volunteer application. I also found an advertisement for from industry to teaching for in need schools. I'm considering looking into it. I seriously believe it is my purpose meter that has me doing what I've been doing. I haven't found too much that I find worth going out for.

Good for you, Tracey!!! Hopefully, you weren't second-guessing your vote and are still thinking about it because of its importance.

You got it Jane. Voting was very important to me. Had me thinking about me needing to do something meaningful too.

I've always been really passionate about voting, ever since my parents used to drag me out to vote with them. My mom was always a poll worker, and they taught me all about voting at a young age. So, it's always been an important day to me. But, this year, I felt the pull even more so. And volunteering to campaign seemed the right thing to do. I am going to be so HAPPY tonight to ring in CHANGE. I can't wait.

Just dropping in to say hi! I get hit with these moments when I feel like nothing I do in my daily life reflects my true values. I requested info about volunteering at the animal shelter, but didn't do anything with it yet.

Thank you Julie. After reading what you wrote, I went and re-read my signature. Those quotes still really resonate with me.

Default Update: Physical

I have gained about 5 lbs since I've been in the south, not working, and working out here & there.

Externally, this seems to agree with me. I look a bit "softer." My breasts, hips and butt have gotten just enough pop to
