Went to the gym on Friday and got a compliment in the middle of my workout. Guy came over and asked if I minded if he asked how old I am. I held up 4 fingers twice. He says I just wanted to tell you that you look good and kept on going. Much better than a resolutioner getting on my nerves.

That's great, Tracey!! A similar thing happened to me today. A man came up to me whom I've never seen before, but who was not new....in very great shape and about 65 years old. He told me that he rarely see girls do what I was doing and told me I was looking good. It was a genuine compliment, and we chatted a bit. I told him I was doing "homework" from my oly coach, and he was familiar with her. He said "she'll kick your ass"! I said she certainly does on a weekly basis! It was such a nice interaction. So, good for us, huh!!
What have you been listening to? Nothing's moving me at the moment.
Ooh Pick me! Pick me! I was meaning to post this to my log, but just haven't gotten around to it. Rather than buying new stuff, I'm concentrating on the music I already have. The first CD that came to hand is a dts surround sound recording of Marvin Gaye's Greatest Hits - and it was great. The music of course is top notch, and the sound is wonderful - especially the subwoofer on certain songs.

Well, I was going to post about the guy in the gym who complimented you, Tracey, but now I've been distracted by the silky smooth voices in my head singing "let's get it on..."

I'm back, having taken a few deep breaths and reminded myself that I teach middle school and, since I have not yet left my classroom, any thoughts of wanton "getting it on" just make me generally queezy and feeling all motherly and old.
Right. Way to go at the gym. LOVE getting compliments like this... doesn't happen to me very often!

And, sigh, I can no longer concentrate.
LOVE this album^^
You should hear it in surround sound... You can be IN the music.

I think I am officially jealous. I have "surround-sound" 5 speakers & subwoofer on my computer, but I'm sure it doesn't compare in the least to a real system.

Motherly? Old? Now "Let's Get It On" is the perfect song if you really want to get into that condition My favorite song on this album is "If I Should Die Tonight." It's "our" song.

Tell me which album [name/year released/maybe label] so I can see if I can find it on-line. I absolutely adore Marvin. It makes me sad that a lot of the artists I love -- the ones where you can hear the angst/pain in their voice -- actually suffer so for the music I so love.
Going through the stuff you already have is a great idea. I actually have some CDs I've never opened.

I did some looking around but wasn't able to find anything. Unfortunately the only thing I can remember offhand is it is a dts recording. I know the cover, so I could spot it online but so far, nothing yet. I'll post info when I get home.

When I first heard Tears for Fears album The Seeds of Love years ago, I HAD to know who was singing on the tracks 'Woman in Chains' and 'Badman's Song'. It is Oleta Adams. She is so magnificent on those songs. She actually was 'discovered' by Roland Orzabel from Tears for Fears in a nightclub and promptly was recruited for The Seeds of Love album (one of my all-time favorites -- just a great album). Anyway, I've since gotten some of Oleta Adam's solo stuff and I think she's great, too. Give it a listen, if you haven't already.
I will. Thanks for the recommendation. The only Oleta Adams song I've heard is "Get Here," which is beautiful, but I didn't go searching out any other stuff just Brenda Russell's version since she wrote it.
In other news, I am physically defective and have to take a steroid for six weeks. The potential side effects sound worse than what I'm already dealing with.

Sorry about the temporary lack of physical perfection.
Tears for Fears! Oh, man, that's been quite a while back but I had it and liked it. I'm gonna have to take a walk down memory lane with YouTube later on, I think.
I'm currently on a Simon & Garfunkel kick myself. I LOVE Garfunkel's voice and love to watch him sing. Some folks make their voices do things. He seems to just be a vessel for it -- he opens his mouth and beautiful things just burst forth. While I admire skill, especially of the musical type, pure talent just sends me a-quivering.

oh no! I am sorry to hear this, Tracey. If my experience offers any kind of anecdotal consolation... I did not experience any of the side effects other than minor weight gain, and only then in the first two weeks on Prednisone. My liver, for what it's worth, seems to be doing just fine. I hope everything gets worked out.

Only in the sense that I cringe every time the girls in my homeroom class talking about making out. I'm not ready to "get into that condition" quite yet!

You know I didn't see anything on the side effect list about the liver. The day I got it, I made a spreadsheet to track any symptoms. So far it actually seems to be working and strangely (at least to me), I've been the exact same weight for the past 3 days. My primary concerns were the weight gain, localized fat deposits, acne (ugh), menstrual cycle change (ugh). Ugh on the acne because here I am at 44 having never been through acne, now having a plethora of it on my forehead. Desperately, after reading on another board, a week ago, I bought some Acne Free. I say desperate because I have some prescription stuff that didn't do jack. The Acne Free seems to be working.
And someone please tell me that the drug industry doesn't have a monopoly. This med cost $795. I should be "happy" that I only had to spend $175. The pharmacy tech & I both let out a "sweet Jesus, hope this works" after seeing the true price.

Holy Cow that is some expensive stuff - at that price it should do whatever you wish it to do!!!
Sorry to hear about the side effects, but hopefully you can take some comfort in knowing that as soon as you finish the meds, the side effects should go away too!
Hope everything works out!!

Jane, I have fallen in love. You did me up but good. I'm going to buy this album. There wasn't one song that I bypassed. Although I have to say after the previous songs, "Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams" was a surprise. "Standing on the Corner of the Third World" put me in the mind of Marvin's "Trouble Man" so I put that song on as the capper.

I'm listening to Laila by Derek and the Dominoes right now and all I have to say is Patti Harrison must have been something special to inspire that song.
Looks like I've got some Rhapsody research to do when I get home. And to find out the specs on that CD I mentioned. (Kinda not surprised on the first as I usually listen to classical music.)
How are you doing workout and otherwise, Tracey? You seemed to be looking for a direction to go in - is that still true?

Mmmm, loves me some David Ruffin. My girl loves him, too, and has down some of his moves -- impressive for a 3 year old. LOL
I wish I could see her. I love how children move with such abandon.

Research please. I have Rhapsody, however, since he has so many best ofs, I wasn't sure which one.
Workout wise: ha. I've started NROL4W over again. Intending just to do stage 1. I'm done enough to get to the 12-rep stage. 2x a week until this last one where I just did one. Yesterday did a Power Stretch DVD. 20 minutes kind of yogaish until the end which has hamstring, inner thigh, and torso stretching.
I started the NROL4W again to tide me over while I ponder where I want to go on the weight-lifting journey.
Big-girl wise: Still rudderless & not even pondering.
Thank you for checking on me.
