You know we're cool like that.

I'm going as far toward the red pill as I can get.

Default Strength (Endurance): Friday, 09/26/08

I turned on the debate getting ready to enjoy hollering at the TV when they started on the earmarks. I didn't want to hear "call and response" nit-picking. I prefer to hear "call and response" in church on choir day.

So decided to pull out one of my DVDs that I've only done once. The Body Bar Yoga Strength. I used a 4-lb body bar.

Don't know why I've only done this once and couldn't remember it. This woman was not playing with the legs. Upper body not really strenuous.

Afterwards cooked blackened catfish, spaghetti pasta, and broccoli. Good eating and had a drink.

47 minutes, 254 cal.

Default Cardio Queen: Sept 29 - Oct 3, 2008

Started off the week with yoga and push-ups. Then was tired of my muscles always being on, and I asked for help in the Training Discussion. When all I got was an "amen" decided to "rest" for rest of week.

September 29 (Monday): 1 hr yoga at yoga studio close to my house. Never been there before. Class was lovely, however, didn't do anything that I couldn't have done at home EXCEPT during meditation, the instructor came around to make adjustments. We were lying on our backs and when she came to me, she "massaged/pushed" my shoulders down while rubbing a menthol gel across them. The gel was heavenly, and I bought some. 394 cals. I was really surprised that hr avg was 117 but max was 171.

Did 3 sets of push-ups through day. Feel some tension in my upper traps/neck/shoulders. Working on relaxing this.

October 1 (Wednesday): 1 hr Hip Hop at gym. God knows how much fun I had. I need to find somewhere to dance regularly that is a reasonable distance from my house.

Followed by 3 sets of 6 reps lat pull downs. 1st set 70 lbs. 2nd 80 lbs. 3rd 90 lbs.

475 cal.

October 2 (Thursday): 38 min Nia Dreamwalker routine. During debate. When husband came home stopped and watched the rest with him. Gotta love GOP Barbie. I was waiting for the hand to come out from behind her back. 272 cal.

Later did 3 sets of 6-8 push-ups. Also tried to do a chin from the swing outside. Didn't move vertically, however, you can't tell my back that it didn't ====> DOMS Oct 3 (Friday).

Default Strength Endurance: Saturday 10/04/08

WARM-UP/WORKOUT MUSIC: Nia Dreamwalker.

WARM-UP (13 MIN):
Kick, Punch & Crunch thru 1st kicking sequence. On mute. Then got on my nerves. Stopped and did a little freedance & squats. Then ready to go.

WORKOUT (25 MIN):
Circuit (x3):
  • BB Front Squat/Push Press: 60 lbs x 4
  • Alternating Renegade Row w/Push-up: 15-lb DBs x 3 each side (6 push-ups)
  • Assisted Chin-up (feet on ground): BW x 4
  • Swiss-ball Side Raise (all reps R then L): BW x 6
  • Swiss-ball Jackknife (to pike w/ knees bent): BW x 4
NOTES:
  1. 2-min rest between circuits. No rest during circuit.
  2. 1st circuit forgot push-ups during Renegade Rows. HR went up to push press level when added during Circuits 2 & 3.
  3. Started to get nauseous during Circuit 2. Think I didn't wait long enough after eating (2 hours) before doing workout.
  4. Front Squat/Push Press: Think I could have gone up in weight on these. However, didn't since doing at home and cleaning bar off ground.
COOL DOWN (20 MIN):
Freedance to Jazmine Sullivan: Lions, Tigers, & Bears and I Need U Bad. It’s wonderful how rejuvenating new music is. Baby girl sent this to me, and I’ve been playing ever since.

560 cal.

Hi Beautiful Kate,
I'm so glad you checked in. I miss our conversations. Update your log with how you are doing.

It's raining cat & dogs here (not like your rain -- we're having a kaboom storm). I'm going to do some yoga this morning cause of my thoughts of you.

Be peaceful.

Bringing my log up just because.

Nothing is going well in my life except my workouts (yeah l, if you're reading this has changed that fast).

Have gone into the realm of nausea-inducing/light-headed circuits. Strangely that hasn't put me off. It has however caused me to purposely do a PWO shake. After every one. On my 2nd week today. Intend to do for 4 weeks.

Have been having strange hormonal issues the past 2 weeks. Body is changing. I can't stop looking at it in amazement. Breasts swelling non-period. Annoyingly tender but they look good. Acne bumps that look like heat on my forehead, but my skin looks luminous. Then today seems I'm getting the V-taper/booty waist.

Going to spend the day with my handsome baby nephew tomorrow. He always looks at me with joy (and gorgeous dimples).

I am an athlete.

Today's workout done despite period issues: pain, cramps, bloat, frequent peeing. Ate a yogurt 3 hours before. Went to get lunch for my sister and me. Dropped her's off and came home to workout. Had a couple of bites of spaghetti right before workout then got started.

WORKOUT Length: 55 min
WARM-UP (12 min): Joint warm-up freedance. Hamstring stretch. L. Hamstring roll on rolling pin. Nia self-healing squats.

WORKOUT (37 min): Circuit (x3). 2-minute rest between circuits
  • 1-arm DB Snatch. 20 lbs x 3 (e)
  • Forward Swiss Ball Roll. BW x 8 (333)
  • Windmill Lunge: 5-lb DBs x 3 (alternating) (211)
  • 2-Point DB Row (222): 20-lbs x 8 (e)
  • Swiss Ball Alternating Wood Chop: 10 lbs x 8 (alternating)
COOL DOWN (6 min): some freedance & put some stuff up. Extended longer, however cut off workout timer.

SUMMARY: KA&CN. Ate couple more bites of lunch then took shower. Then finally got to eat for real. Good for 1 hr. Then pain & increased flow. Took advil and now sleepy. Peaceful.

I keep meaning to tell you that my mother is quite enjoying her Nia class. Her friend, not so much, but that doesn't surprise me.

I admire that you got your workout in when you felt crappy. Too bad it didn't make you feel better.

Anne: Thanks for the update. What's up with your mother's friend? I'm glad the friend's opinion hasn't stopped your mom from enjoying herself. If you ever decide to try Nia, I'd recommend you go separate from your mom (just so you can explore it through your own sensations w/o watching your mother).

Greg: You make me smile every time you reply to my log. Thanks for the acknowledgment. I'm pretty sure if you don't want to be single, you won't stay that way. Had 7 hours of sleep and feeling relatively better this morning. Morning is crisp with beautiful sunshine. I want to enjoy it.

Tracey - about the best way to describe her is very British. I'm not sure if that paints the right picture, but I didn't think it would be her thing. It's definitely something I'd be interested in later on (ie. when I have some income)

Well, I had some "moonshine" (whiskey) that night and lots of fun.

I know exactly what you mean. I lived in England for 4½ years. I was lucky enough to work at a British company so made lots of friends, however, there was definitely a warm-up period. They had to break me in. Only then did I find out they were just as crazy as me. Just differently. I learned to make (and love) tea with milk and do British crosswords. They thought I was hilarious because everytime we went out to the pub to eat, I would pull a bottle of salad dressing out of my purse (I could never get used to salad cream). And I fell in love with Cadbury's. But when we went out to discos, I was the only one who danced with abandon.

I was in the Marines in England and spent time pub crawling with the Royal Marines. They weren't exactly a reserved bunch, but we were all very young (I was 19) and enlisted Marines.

They weren't reserved about the drinking (I've never seen women who could knock it back so), just the dancing. However, that may have something to do with that the guys go to one corner & drink & the girls go to another and drink & then every once in a while dance with their girl friends.

I got a workout in. It's 2 days late. Am hosting my sister-in-law and her husband for the week. They went out today, however, I intended to do it even if they had stayed. Moved my workout stuff into the other house for the duration of their stay. Was nice since outside is cooler. Kept having to pee during circuits. Got a wave of nausea in the 3rd circuit and wanted to quit but finished it anyway. Still tripping on the body changes I'm seeing. Hormones still seem to be in flux.

Circuit (x3 with 2-minute rest)
  1. BB RDL/Bent-over row x 60 lbs. Used a wider-leg stance. More intense on posterior. C1: 6 reps. C2: 5 1/2 reps. C3: 4 reps
  2. Neutral Grip Shoulder Press kneeling on 2 small basketballs x 15-lbs x 8 reps
  3. Mogul Squat x 8 lbs x 24 reps in 20 sec
  4. Swiss Ball Push-ups. Shins on SB. C1: 4 reps (222). C2: 8 reps (no tempo). C3: 3 reps (222)
  5. Tornado Chop x 8 lbs x 30 reps (15 alternating)

Ireland was even more reserved. The men all came to the bar and the women came separately. The women loved us, the sailors and Marines, because we were only too happy to dance and talk with them while the Irish guys hung together and griped about us. Irish girls may have been the greatest flirts in the world!

Wife (ex): I lived in Felixstowe in Suffolk for a year then at RAF Alconbury for 3 1/2 years. When I lived at RAF Alconbury is when I worked for a British company. Was in UK from the ages of 23-27.

I never made it to Ireland. But I went to Scotland when my mother came to visit. We loved it. It was like being in the South but people saying "hey" with prettier accents. I couldn't get over how much less reserved they were with strangers.

During my time in England, I also managed to make it to Amsterdam for a weekend with my best friend. Had a blast (and maybe a couple of hours sleep).

Brat: I also went to kindergarten in the Philippines and junior high school in Germany. My daughter killed me making a remark about I'd never let her do that when she heard me telling someone about going to clubs in Spain when I was 13 and 14. I told her if she lived in Europe in the late 70s then maybe we could discuss it.

Tracey, thank you for this needed reminder. I miss our conversations, too, and I don't know what my problem is, with getting my log updated. I think that leading up to the race I just got really overwhelmed with life and totally underwhelmed with my workouts, considering the singular focus of the upcoming race. In any case, I'm back and committed to some new, strength-oriented goals. I feel so good physically-- truly, it's amazing-- that I'm thrilled to be back in the gym. And THAT brings me peace.

Kaboom-type rain is my favorite weather. It's what I miss about New England. I think that if we had that here, Seattle really would be the greatest place on earth.

Peace is coming. I've just "broken up" with a friend, and I'm feeling a little uneasy about it. But, I need to take care of myself and the friendship was proving too toxic for me to handle. In any case, when I sort that out, I will relish the peace.

Nah that wasn't me. I hit in 1990 and went on the hedonist tour. But I also saw tulips, cheese, and diamonds.

But this is one of those more sucky things. Ah, the bittersweet road to peace. I totally feel where you're coming from.

We have Seattle rain today.
