Snow is leaving today WAAH. And since I have more sense than these folks here (who don't know they should clean their cars off), I was ready to do a sweet swerve-around when a big chunk fell off the trunk in front of me.
So I was out to go to the grocery. Last night my husband comes in to tell me what he wanted for dinner. He didn't get it. He's getting it today so I'll be in the kitchen for a while. He'd eat southern every day if I'd do it (which I won't). So not a domestic goddess. Under an hour & ready to eat is my mission. However here's today's menu:

I was actually planning to go to the gym today. Might get up to something in the little house.
Looks like a tasty menu to me. By the way, when I was at my aunt's house of the weekend, the public radio station was playing jazz - Miles Davis' Kind of Blue and I thought of you.

My goal will be for it to be very tasty The thing is I know what goes in it. And it should be more of a special occasion dinner than a daily/weekly one.
I'm glad you thought of me when you heard Kind of Blue. It's funny, but I thought of you too when I was in the grocery store. I actually chose a new cheese to try in this macaroni. One I've never had. It's from Germany and soft: Butterkäse. It will be mixed with american & cheddar in the white sauce.
Music-wise, after Greg posted on the Allman Brothers, I also went to listen to some of Gregg Allman's solo stuff. That and Tears for Fears will be what I'll listen to while cooking. Swinging hips & bopping head always seem to get me to produce tasty food.

Sounds good - I've not had southern cooking much (residing north of the Mason-Dixon does that to a person) but I'm always interested in tasty stuff.
As for the Miles Davis, I'd just revisited the CD based on your recommendation in my log. Was just interesting to hear it by happenstance on the radio.
The Butterkaese sounds good - I know they some sort of butterkaese at the supermarket I shop at, so I might check it out.
And finally, yes I always find music helps the cook - for me, I enjoy putting on The Barber of Seville and whipping up a feast.

I thought you would be the one to understand my affection for these.
Did you get caught, or do you mean you have to be diligent in making sure they are focusing?
I got caught!
They were writing an essay test. I do a lap to monitor, then sit, then do a lap... so, upon sitting, I checked out your post and someone snuck up on me with a question. Oops.

I keep meaning to make mac & cheese. I played around a little during a maintenance week and think I did okay with something that would be nice as a small side dish with perhaps a smoked sausage and such. The problem is we never have milk in the house and I really don't like it made with powdered milk. Maybe I'll work it in next week.
Glad that your snow didn't stay. We finally got some decently warm weather, and combined with some rain over the weekend we should get rid of even the small bits left from big piles. As well, perhaps some rain will get rid of some of the dirt left over from shoveling / sanding, etc.

Mac & cheese has been a favorite dish of mine all my life. I make it with real cream and could eat it morning, noon, & night! Therefore, I try not to make it more than 1-2 times a year. Problem is that you can buy really good macaroni & cheese here (so I now have to watch that too).

I ate some snow just before it went away (it was delicious). Today's high -- 74 and very pretty sunshine. Flowers blooming in the backyard.

I'm jealous of the music talk. Still on limited bandwidth here for a few more days so I can't (search for and) listen to hear the music mentioned. Wah.

Hm. That combo always seems to produce offspring for me.
Hi Pretty Chicka,
Workouts seem to be going fine (physically and mentally) but still kind of aimless. Think I'm getting closer to more routine but haven't decided yet.
Since I consider it a "human" quality, I'll just say here, I'm too J of you and Jane at the Arnold -- but only because I wasn't there to share the fun!

Hi Tracey! Looking good in here...glad to see you getting settled into somewhat of a routine (maybe?). At any rate, even what you call aimless, I call pretty kick ass.

We would have loved to have you there, for sure! Physically and mentally good workouts, rock! Still trying to figure out what I should or want to do, once the ankle is back to snuff.

Started to do a workout Wednesday but tanked during the Nia warm-up (25 min) so stopped & ate.
I'm stronger than I think. My husband was standing, and I wrapped my arms around his thighs and picked him up. 200 lbs. But I told him that was my 1RM.

Got this from my baby last month. Put in on the MP3 player today. Got to like a song with a chorus that goes:
If this is my last chance to love you
I’m gonna play it like a grown man ought to
If I only got one shot to win you Then call me Jordan 4th quarter in '92, yeah
(I'm gonna do it) No matter what your girlfriends say
(I'm gonna do it) Believe me baby talking bout the kinda change
(I'm gonna do it) From a boy to a man Like Barack and his plan
(I'm gonna do it) If this is my last chance
