1. No knee pain. They've gotten funky lately. Popping, clicking, soreness. It's bugging the hell out of me. Ramped up the hip mobility big time, and will continue to do so. If that doesn't help, then we'll explore alternatives (doctors/MRI). But it's not going to come to that.
2. 5+ full pistol squats. Those who've seen me fall over at the summit know how terrible my hip flexibility is. (being able to do a back squat properly is rolled into this)
3. Buy a car. This is dependent on a job, which should be happening soon.
4. Propose.
5. Kidding about #4.
6. 20 chinups.
7. Under 200 lbs. I've gained some weight this summer having too much fun eating. That has to stop.
8. Break 80 (legitimately) three times on the golf course. Overhauled the clubs this summer, so there's now no excuse not to suck. (I'm in the mid-80s at the moment. The new irons are on the way)
The golf clubs are here, so it's time to get started...
I started Max Strength in June, but noticed my deficiencies right away, and gave it up when I was working my tail off in early July. Since then I've been working on mobility, and feel better prepared to attack the program now.
I've gained a bit of weight since the beginning of the summer, but not as much as I thought. I'm at 202 right now (6-1), and I think it's probably a good idea to lower that goal to 195 or so. It's not going to be a true cut because it's a strength program, but with my diet in line, it's not unrealistic in the slightest to expect some fat loss. However, I really am not happy with the way I look right now, but I think also that I was the leanest I had ever been before this slow gain, so it's a natural reaction.
Went to the driving range tonight, and hit the ball real well before I got tired. (jumbo bucket was not a good idea in this heat) I can't hit my new wedges worth a shit, and am tempted to bench the high dollar clubs for the $30 no name lob wedge that I've learned to trust. For some reason, the mechanics with the old club swing don't translate over at all to the new Clevelands. I'm looking to get out on the course on Tuesday, and if I can putt even remotely better with the new putter, then I have a chance at going after 82.
I've already done phase 1 of MS, but I probably should do it over again. I should have no problem getting in four workouts a week, but the order may be shuffled a bit because I need to travel to the Y 15 minutes away on leg days (and that Y is ridiculously busy at times) so in the interest of convenience I may swap the order around like I am this week.
(and the name is in homage to the fact that there's a very good chance that this log is not going to be posted in 24/7.)

Medium Grip Seated Row (on swiss ball)

Played golf today. Shot a really crappy 87 from the back tees. (46-41) Really inconsistent. Last time out on this course I was consistently bad, with 13 bogeys. Today, I had a 7 on a par 4 (#1 handicap hole), a 6 on one of the easiest holes on the course, and a couple of three putts on the front. No three putts on the back, which is why I played much better. If only I could chip and putt; I drove the ball very well and my iron play was solid considering this was the first round with them.
Should hopefully be entered in a 5K on September 28th (although a work/play commitment may get in the way) and so I probably need to start doing some distance work. I want to break 20 minutes.

My new irons were terrific for the first six rounds then I lost the feel. Haven't got it back yet.
Hope yours keep working!
I hope that's not the case because then I'll be halfway there as of this weekend. I should get two rounds in over the weekend, and another round next week. This is an expensive habit.

Most of your goals look reachable, but you'll need lots of prayer to break 80!
You got that right!
Once may be reachable. But three times is ballsy. I did find--through a billboard above a urinal at Kauffman Stadium last night--a course that bragged about being the best golf value in KC. Looked on their website and I can steal a bit of time with my student ID and play 18 anytime M-F for $19.

Not a bad workout. Good weight selection on all of the exercises. Still a bit sore from Tuesday. Going to give the other lower body workout a shot tomorrow.

Rack Pulls
4x6 @ 255
I was absolutely gassed from the front squats
Bulgarian Split Squats
3x6 @ 35 (EH)
Probably could have gone to 40s, but realized that after the fact. I don't hate these nearly as much as others do. In fact, I don't know if I would put these on my least favorite exercises list.
Pull Throughs
3x10 @ 120
Planks
3x30 seconds
Killer workout. Thought that this was the hardest of the four when I did P1 back in June and still think that.

Played golf on Sunday and had eight pars. BUT I was 15 over on the other 10 holes for an 86. One of the weirdest rounds of golf I have ever played. The par 3s are the worst facet of my game and I was even par. Hit 12-14 possible fairways.
Monday, well..... I was 1 stroke higher on the front than I was on Sunday, and then it fell apart. I quit keeping score on hole 13 and hit 2-3 balls the rest of the way. Couldn't drive it straight; all my irons sliced... it was awful.
As was my diet. Eating out at the lake for three days will do that.

Oh... golf. Lots of golf. Isn't that... um, uh... interesting?

Admit it, Nick. You just want to beat Russ in a match play game at the next Summit.
Workouts looking solid, mate

Thanks!
I hadn't even thought of that! Russ is so toast next year.

Great workout as I was able to go to the second exercise in the supersets fairly soon after the first.
Slight soreness from yesterday's leg workout, but should be able to give the other one a go tomorrow. Last Friday's workout left me sore for three days.

Is this Wii Golf? I have been thinking of taking up Golf to continue to round out my new fitness philosophy but have been discouraged by the area here. I may have to wait until I get to LR to take it up....

No good golf courses? I only play twilight and student rates. I try as hard as possible to not pay full price.
