To Begin Again: A New Log for Lib
My last log was underused by me, and I'm hoping that a new log with new goals will help me keep going toward what I want to achieve, not what others wish to see me achieve. I feel like my last set of goals were based around others ideals for what was best, not what I felt was best for me, so I am beginning again with the logging.
My boyfriend and I recently moved and as a result, I ended up taking three weeks off from working out. I used that time to reflect and think and determine new and better goals. I am not pulling up my old log and looking over those, so some of these may be similar to that, nonetheless, I feel the reasons are better here than they were there.
1: I wish to become stronger. I will work my hardest at doing so without sacrificing form for weight.
2: Fat-loss is not my primary goal. It is my secondary one. I wish to become stronger, then worry about "cutting." I do not plan to restrict any one food group or look at foods in a compliant or non-compliant manner. If I want cake, I will have cake, but I will not eat sweets every day and then wonder why I'm not seeing any gains - or losses.
3: Life gets in the way sometimes. I am just now starting stage five instead of stage six and I'm okay with that.
4: I will commit myself to going to the gym AT LEAST two times a week, with three being the ideal. I will not fret during Sunday breakfast when we decide we want biscuts, bacon, and berries instead of scrambled eggs and berries. I will enjoy myself and the outcomes I am continuing to strive toward.
So, that being said, today's workout was the first A workout of Stage five. I pushed myself as hard as I could on weights. (I will post my stats tomorrow or so, it's late in the day and I just want to chill out and finish unpacking my living room.)
1 Arm DB Snatch: 2 x 4 @ 25lbs, 2x4@30
DB Rom DL: 4x4@30
BB B/O Row: 4x4@70
DB Single-Arm Squat: 4x4@ 15/30
DB Incline Bench Press: 4x4@20
Plank: 3x4@120, no touching with knees..
Reverse woodchop: 3x4@65
Eats today are weird, it's Sunday and our fridge is slightly understocked..:
B@ 12:30: 2 biscuits, 1/2 pint blueberries, 3 strips turkey bacon
L @ 3:00: 1 smoked salmon sushi roll, 1/2 serving peanuts
PWO (I'm allergic to both whey and lactose and as per my dr cannot partake in the whey PWO): Peanut butter and baby carrots
D @ 7:00: 2 all-beef kosher hotdogs, 3 oz raspberries, 3/4 cup green beans.
Tomorrow is planned:
B: 1/2 whole wheat bagel with 3 tbsp better than cream cheese, 1/2 pint blueberries
S: Peanut butter and celery sticks
L: leftover fajita mix from lunch yesterday: steak, peppers and onions, chicken, refried beans, romaine lettuce, soy yogurt
D: Barbeque chicken, yeast rolls, 3/4 cup green beans.
then we are grocery shopping. I plan on getting
-more berries: blue, black, raspberries, YUM.
-refried beans and corn tortillas
-tuna fish

DOMS oh my god.... NOT friendly. The shower helped but OMG I just want to soak in a bathtub today.
Planning on 5B tonight depending on level of soreness - it seriously hurts to go up and down our stairs right now.

Did 5B yesterday and woke up pleasantly sore today. I feel like I did some work!
I'm watching my cats chase each other around the townhouse we live in. It's up the stairs and back down, through the kitchen, around through the dining room, into the living room, and back up. They're like kids in that respect and it's making me realize that in some aspects of my life, I need to think like a child and just do it without thinking so much about the benefit it gives me. Like swim, or ride my bike, or go chase a ball around the soccer field for an hour... Stuff like that..
Eats today:
B: Frosted mini wheats in soy milk, 3 strips turkey bacon
S: 1 serving peanuts, 1/4 cup blueberries
L: Ezekial bread with turkey, mayo, and mustard as a sandwich, 1 serving carrots, 4 oz soy yogurt
S: More blueberries, celery with better than cream cheese..
D: Tacos!

Hi Lib - just saw your log! I'm in Ohio too, and also on stage 5...
I like your post about being active for fun and not always for a specific purpose. I used to ride horses and compete and I quit partly because I could no longer just have fun - I was too hard on myself... not a good thing - just get moving and enjoy!

Hi Bytsi! A long time ago I loved being active for fun, and for some reason stopped being active just for fun. I don't like to stress too much about foods and balanced macronutrients so right now I'm not. I am trying to go crazy on whole grains, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, lean meats, and other (non-dairy) protein sources without going too crazy on junk food..
I miss being a kid and chasing a ball around for hours with no reason. Of course, it's the cats' naptime now..

For the soreness get some Epsom salts and soak. It feels wonderful and it'll help.
Have you looked at some of the other protein powder types. I know there's hemp, pea, egg that I can think of right off the top of my head. I've tried the Egg PP and it's not too bad.

No workout today at all. My shoulders were killing me from an hour long basketball game played with the boy yesterday. Tomorrow am hitting the gym - 2x this week, I'm at least meeting my goal, which makes me happy
Eats today were weird:
B: 1/2 whole grain bagel from panera with margarine (I can't wait until they get the breakfast sandwiches); soymilk, blueberries
S: smores luna bar, peanut butter off a spoon
L: hamburger patty, steamed carrots, raspberries
D: large garden salad, goulashish type dish at hofbrauhaus.
before bed: loads of water. It's that time o' da month
on the oddball side: the fat on my belly got squooshy this week..

I was up all night on Sunday vomiting and went to urgent care monday morning. It's a sinus infection. Since I'm still wiped today, I'm resting up and plan to be back in the gym tomorrow. I know it may sound silly, but sinus infections hit me really hard and it takes me a few days to be awake enough to do ANYTHING besides go to work and goof off at home.

You get a lot of sinus infections - have you talked to a physician about it?
