Default OPT(ing) for Fat Loss

I've just started Leigh's OPT for Fat Loss program (the program that comes with the Fat Loss Troubleshooter). So far so good. I've been on it for a week, and already have lost 2 pounds. I can't remember when the last time I have actually lost 2 pounds in a week. Amazing stuff.. And that is even after I was started NROLW.

So the log here is to track my progress on the program. I may go thru it a couple of times as I have a fair amount of fat to lose.

So here are my current stats (after losing the initial 2 pounds):

5/27/2008
Weight 183
Height
5'2"
Waist 36
Hips 44
Chest 42.5
Chest Under Bust 36
Arms 13
Thigh 24
Calf 17
BMI 32.9

So far the takeaways I have gotten - TRACK TRACK TRACK! (Food that is). I've been about 95% on target for diet so far. Also another thing - drink lots of water. I had always been told drinking lots of water was good for you, but never really tried very hard to make sure I drank a lot of water. Then I read Leigh's book, and it explained why water it important for fat loss - ok now I AM going to drink that water!

So we will see how it goes!

Didn't get the Macros quite right... I went and bought some avocados today to help with upping the fat. I find it's been a bit hard getting enough fat. I was joking with a co-worker today about how am looking for "fatty" foods to get my macros in line.

Exercise:
(Note: I am continue on the NROLW program for lifting days)
Stage 4-B - skipped the Lateral Flexion/Cobra and HITT - ran out of time.

In other news, another co-worker noticed today that I have lost weight. Pretty amazing only after a week on the program. Granted I had been a general down trend in weight for several months, but a very much the "slow boat to "China" method. For example, I have been lifting/exercise pretty consistently for 2 years and only had lost about 10 pounds. Pretty pathetic.

I am hoping I can keep the calories/macros right over the weekend as I am going camping. I going to try my hardest!

Hey
I have read the book also.

I am not following OPT yet. I have a wrist injury at the moment and will see a doctor wednesday about it.
I was in stage 5 of NROLW grrr
had to stop and am doing cardio only.
BUT i have been measuring everything and keeping a journal again.

You said you are still doing NROLW on your weight days , are you following the other stuff as per OPT then? I guess the macros and the cardio?
Figuring the macros out the way it is laid out for me i think is the hardest thing.

Anyway take care
and thats awesome that you are losing it again!

Hi, Jen!

I saw your post on the "Troubleshoot" thread and decided to check out your log and subscribe to it.

Our stats are so close that it's amazing. I started at 174 when I hired Leigh as my online trainer and have both of her books. I'm not quite sure of my weightloss because I have a weigh-in scheduled for next week (I'm banned from the scale......lol). But our heights and starting measurements are really close. That's what has me so interested in your journey.

I just wanted to let you know that Leigh really knows her stuff and has really helped me with some issues that I struggle with time and time again. Stick with her program and you'll definitely see results.

Keep up those awesome workouts!

Calories1491.9781400
Protein40%42.54%
Fat25%22.83%
Carbs35%34.64%

Water - On target yesterday, still working on it today!

Exercise:

Yesterday: 25 minutes SS on Treadmill at 70% THR. Suppose to be 60 minutes, but coudn't spare the time at lunch since I was leaving at 2:00 to go camping.

Today: None except several times up and down a very tall fire lookout tower.

The camping was fun, stayed in a fire lookout tower in the southern oregon cascades. Beatiful view from up there - you can see for miles and miles. My dog couldn't do the stairs on the tower, so my DH had to carry her up and down the stairs (she's a 55 pound dog). I'm too much of a klutz to have done it. With all the NROLW lighting, I can totaly carry her, it just haven't found a way for NROLW to deal with my klutzness! Give me a chance to injury myself and I will!

By the way - I was hoping I could hold out until next Wednesday, "My offical weigh in day", but I am down 3 pounds - 180!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I haven't seen movement like this EVER. I'm serious. Even in high school running on the x-country team, I ran over 400 miles one summer, only a few pounds lost. I wish I had discovered Leigh YEARS ago.

Hi - I was originally planning on sticking with NROLW for lifting days and follow everything else exactly... but looking over the OPT plan again, I think that may not so good in the later stages since she has you do true supersets and such, so I think I will be switch over to her plan of lifting for now (especially since I am already seeing such great results from following the diet and cardio). Perhaps after I am done doing the OPT plan, I will go back to NROLW. I really like NROLW - it really has made me stronger, but I really want the weight to come off. I want those hard earned muscle to actually show!

Hi Jen - I just found your log... I have the same issue with fats... I either get way too low (I'm so used to cutting fat from years of doing low-fat dieting) or I go too far in the other direction. My best sources are nuts and avocado, but I seem to combine them (like in a salad - yum!) and then blow through my fat macros!

I'm looking forward to following your log... I read both of Leigh's books and am also seeing some progress for the first time in a while.
