Seems like just lifting and gentle cardio (e.g. walking) may be the answer for now until you can get those hormones in balance. But hey, I may be just talkin' out my ass.
You're in NY right? I was there on Monday and it was HOT and HUMID.

Ok, now I may be talking out of my ass, butt.....
Based on what I know of Marty, I feel like she's got to have a goal or she's going to go nuts. I say this because that is how I am, and I get very frustrated if I'm not shooting for something. So, I fear that if she doesn't have a fitness like goal, it might turn back inwards and become body obsession again. (Sorry to talk about you in 3rd person in your own log!)
I have so so so been there, and it sucks. So having said that, if you feel that's the case Marty, maybe you need to do what tcoy said and make this about fun, about finishing the tri, not finishing with a time. That is at least fitness based, and not going to stress you out in the same way as running yourself into the ground trying to get a time. If, you still decide to go for the time and such, make sure that your maintenance numbers are right and maybe a little above. You are very lean and muscular and from what I've read the "perfect" baby making body is 20-30% fat, so you might have to come to terms with putting on a little pudge to get the hormones back. Totally frustrating, but it might be the only way.
Anyhow, I hope hope hope that the specialist can offer you some great options about how to get your body back and running
Just know, we're all here for you to help you chill out!

Yeah, I totally understand what you're saying Jes, I'm very goal oriented too. I hope I didn't sound judgemental or preachy Marty, cuz I'm not. I was just wondering if the two goals (getting preggo and doing a tri) are complimentary. I think I'm also in awe of anyone who can actually DO a triathalon!

Not sure I have anything to add ... so I'll send you some hugs ...
And maybe some tea ...
But I will add that this is sort of like needing to pick one goal at a time (ie like fat loss/strength gain). If you want your body to become a baby-making machine, then endurance training for a tri might not be the best thing. Anything that raises your stress hormones is going to feed into it ... so if you are goal oriented, have your goal be pregnancy (but not so much that getting a BFN stresses you out!!) with your short term goal being resumption of menses. Things like walking, yoga, and gentle weights will hurry you along that path. Endurance training will lead you away from that path.
Or I could be talking out my ass!!

*Crude Man Warning*
We went for 4 years before my wife got pregnant. I think the stress really comes into play more than people respect. Both times we made baby's were in very stress free times that we were going for that upper level sex that borderlines on "We'll never speak of this again" type nights.
A couple of 6'ers and some sweaty, nasty pig sex = baby
Folks like to pretend that it's a beautiful, splended, magical, moment. In all actuality it's an extra load of laundry.

I've gotta agree with Jill. It doesn't seem that preparing for a tri and relaxing to get pregnant is complimentary. I understand having a goal. Trust me. Like Jill I wonder if there is something that is a little more aligned.
See...I read the lady part posts. I'm kinda proud of me.

OK, sometimes I can be a dumb blonde ... what's a "6'er"?

6'er = 6 pack of beer. Me and Tony speak redneck. It's not that difficult once you get the verb conjugation down.
And by extra extra load of laundry I think he meant having to clean the sweaty and uh, soiled sheets. If that's what you meant then allow me to blush, apologize and high five Mr. UconnJulie for his prowess.

Ha Ha!!
I thought Tony meant that the kid only created one extra load of laundry per week!! When in reality it doubled our laundry even though the clothes are tiny!!

That's cool. You don't have to play it off. If the man does good work, the man does good work. Nothing to be ashamed of at all. If he makes breakfast in the morning then you've got a keeper!

Does coffee count as breakfast?
He's asleep snoring on the sofa as we speak ... that's got to detract points or something ...
