Thanks, Karen, so much!

Food log for today. Goal was 1500-1600, but I FORGOT to eat lunch (maybe the first time that has ever happened, lol!), so I ate lunch at 4:00 and dinner at 6:30--no more room in my tummy... The dumb thing is that I kept telling my kids how dizzy and weird I felt, must be because I was so overtired...well I guess zero food in my system would do it too...

Your body is looking mighty celestial.

Your back is awesome!

Do you think fish oil helps? I've been leery to take it because I cannot stand seafood and I would hate to be having fish burps. Is thera any brand that you can't taste?

OMG, my sick brain read this at first as your rear end wrap up. And that works, too! LOL. You do look awesome and you definitely have inspired me.

I started taking fish oil last September I believe? It seems to help me for some reason. I feel better when I take it. Can't quite put a finger on it...hopefully someone with a more scientific answer will chime in I started out taking Nature Made brand with lunch and never had any fish burps. I ran out of those and now have Kirkland (Costco) brand Fish Oil Omega 3 one a day. The Nature Made had two pills per dose and they are big, so taking one is better for me. No burps with the Kirkland either. I think there are some fish oil threads in the nutrition section?

Anyway, Celeste I wanted to say I was thinking of you yesterday and said a prayer. Hopefully everything your family is dealing with is okay soon.

Also, I like how you are posting your food! Gives me some ideas for some new combinations

I use the Kirkland brand, too, and don't have fish burps--but my husband does. The fish oil seems to help me, too--over the long term, at least. I started taking them because they contain some of the precursors for seratonin, which plays a role in depression. I bought them for my son (who was having depression troubles) and realized they might be good for me, too!

I have the Kirkland brand, too, and take 3 a day (down from 5 a day Leigh insisted on during the 30-Day OBM challenge. I have occasionally gotten the fish burps, but it has been rare. I think it happens most when I don't take them with food????

Thanks, Karen, for both. We're managing, though as is probably normal, I need to TALK, and dh needs to be alone. Frustrating, but I'm not taking it personally because I know that's how men and women work sometimes.

Thanks. lol on celestial! I have only bought one brand of fish oil, Nature Made, from Wal-Mart, and haven't had any problems. I always take them with a meal, though, don't know if that makes a difference.

Oh, look, we use the same brand of fish oil, how sweet! Thanks for the prayer--we are doing okay...

I'm glad you like the food posting. Sometimes I feel silly posting it all, but it does keep me accountable. I often have the same thing for breakfasts and lunches, but they vary somewhat. (And with the omelette, I'm too lazy to actually figure out everything I have, but as I always end up with close to what's in that food grouping, I post the exact same one. For example, I've been adding cilantro and hot peppers lately, with not quite so many mushrooms, but whatever--I end up with over a cup of cooked veggies, and the slight variations don't make that big of a difference in macros and calories.) Everything else is anally measured and weighed, though!

Today's Workout
Maximum Strength, by Eric Cressey
Phase 1: Foundation
Week 1 (High) Day 2 (Upper Body)
Weight: 124.0
Warmup:
Foam Rolling/Tennis Ball (at home)
Dynamic Warmup #1

A: Bench Press: 5x4
4x85#
4x85#
4x85#
2x85#, 2x85# (Ugh, couldn't make all 4)
3x85# (Tried for the last one, but no go)

B: DB Press, Neutral Grip:
10x25e
6x25e, 4x20e
6x25e, 2x20e

C: Seated Cable Row:
10x60#
10x60#
10x60#
10x60#

D1: Prone Trap Raise:
12x5e
12x5e
12x5e

D2: Side Lying External Rotaton:
12/sidex8#
12/sidex8#
12/sidex8#

E: Side Bridge (Plank):
30sec (each side)
30sec (each side)
30sec (each side)

Warmup: Owee, I'm SO sore from yesterday! I couldn't find my tennis ball, but just as well, I don't think I could have handled it. Just foam rolled everywhere instead.

A: Bench Press:
Since I haven't bench pressed much at all before, I haven't had much practice with technique, and it showed. I read Cressey's description several times and realized I stick my elbows way out. So between trying to keep my elbows in (which made it harder) and forgetting to keep my back tight, I kept getting stuck at the bottom. The second set I actually failed on the first rep, but got re-set up and tried again. The 2+2 on the fourth set was just a couple seconds to get in the right position and breathe, then I was able to get it up. I do think I'll lower my weight next time though so I can worry more about technique and less about not being able to get the bar off my chest.

B: DB Press, Neutral Grip:
I was already pretty fatigued from the bench press, but just did as many as I could with the 25s and switched to 20s for the rest of the set.

C: Seated Cable Row:
This was supposed to be supersetted with the DB Press, but I didn't realized until I was done. Oh well, probably why I had such a hard time with them!

D1: Prone Trap Raise:
Shoulders go clickety clack, but no pain...

D2: Side Lying External Rotaton:
I felt these more in the back of my bicep? Like the outside of my arm, not so much in the back of my shoulder as described. It seems pretty self-explanatory as far as form goes, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong?

E: Side Bridge (Plank):
Harder than I thought they'd be!

****************************** ********************
In other news, to make an already long post even longer...I AM GOING TO THE SUMMIT!!!!! Hubby isn't excited about it, but he's okay with me going. I'm going to fly since the tickets are so cheap and then I'll be gone from home less time. Hooray for me!

I was already trying to figure out how we could maybe work in a road trip to CO, family could come with, etc. But I couldn't get past the 3 days of ignoring family in the middle! Maybe we'll all have to go to Maine or OBX this year again... But, YEAH! Come to the summit! That would be so cool! (and then mom and dad wouldn't think I'm so weird.)

That is pretty funny... I'm so excited! Still trying to figure out when to fly in though. It's either morning or around dinner time, which might be too late to join in the group dinner and fun...

Hey, Celeste, I totally missed the comments about your family troubles when I made my silly post last night. Just got caught up...glad to hear you're doing okay.

And hurray you're going to the Summit! Woo hoo! We're going to have so much fun.

I'm late to the game, as usual, but I hope you and the family find some peace asap.

Btw, I take the giant, honkin' fish oil caps from WalMart, too. Spring Valley brand, enteric-coated. No fish burps here.

Celeste, enteric coated fish oil is the way to go to avoid the fishy taste/burps. I've been taking 5g a day since the 30day challenge with no problem. I'm trying a new brand that has concentrated lipids so I may end up taking less than 5 a day. I have to research it a bit.

Well, I actually ended up with a better flight all around. I realized that for the 6 am flight from Buffalo (which would have put me in KC at 10:30), I would have had to leave the house at 3am! Either that or spend the night in Buffalo. So I checked flights from Erie and ended up with a MUCH shorter flight, leaving at 10:30 am and getting in at 1:00 pm! Perfect! It was like $30 more, but we won't have to spend the night and the actual travel time is like 2 hrs less. So it's booked! I can't believe it!!!

Food for today, I did better, hit my calorie goal and ate good food. Copying and pasting instead of exporting to Excel, it is much faster, but not quite so small and compact.

By the way, I forgot to say that I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO sore!!! DOMS just getting worse and worse throughout the day--I am hobbling around like an old lady, it's just pitiful! I just screamed because I opened the silverware drawer in the kitchen and it hit my quad...

Woohoo on the flight. I'm checking into my costs and it's $208 round trip from Charlotte. I've been waiting to talk to hubby. We have a lot of issues going on right now financial and otherwise so I'm waiting for a good moment...

Nice workout! Your bench is awesome. I hadn't thought about my form on it until you mentioned the elbow thing. I will have to be more aware of that next time.

Very cool about the Summit! I didn't even bring it up to mine....we are already going on a trip in June and he has zero interest in most things fitness related. Maybe next year! (whats funny is that every time I read the word Summit I think of beer. A local brewery here is called Summit and its delicious )

Hooray beer! I've had some of Summit's products before, but that was a while ago. I remember them being good though.

Huh, I actually wasn't very impressed with my bench presses, to be honest. Eric Cressey does a very good job explaining how to position your body, from shoulders to chest, elbows and even feet. I can tell it will help, but right now it's harder. Plus I lose momentum when I tuck my elbows in at the last second or in the middle of the lift.

I understand about not doing the summit this year. Your trip sounds like great fun! And lol on the beer thing! I have a feeling that lots of attendees think of the same thing when they think of the summit, lol!

Hi Tom! I thought that the mention of beer would call your name!

Today's "Workout":

Maximum Strength, by Eric Cressey
Phase 1: Foundation
Week 1 (High) Day 3 (Energy)
Weight: 123.0

Elliptical: 20 min at Level 6, ~5mph (60-70% of max heart rate)
Barn Work: 30 min
Foam Rolling/Tennis Ball
Static Stretching

* Must comment on the strange weight loss...I have to admit I'm not unhappy to see a lower number (basically my all-time low, which was 122.8), but I know that's not what I'm aiming for here. After thinking about it, I realized that it was probably water weight loss, I started my period a week early yesterday and I usually gain/lose about 2#. I'm still a little taken aback since I'm expecting to maintain at 125 or 126, but hey, maybe I lost weight during that cookie-fest over the holidays and didn't realize?! Anyway, I'm going to continue at the 1400/1600 level this week and then see where I am. It IS difficult to change my mindset, though!

**Also, DOMS are killing me! I was hoping the activity this morning would help some, but it doesn't seem like it so far. I'm not complaining--I WOULD be complaining if it felt like I didn't do anything after the first couple workouts, but holy moly! My lower body is still just as sore (or more so) than yesterday morning, and now the upper body is kicking in. What we do in the name of fitness!

Yeah I love the DOMS in the first week. I got it especially bad in the lower body because I had never really done that much lower body work in a single session in a long time. Nothing like box squats, deadlifts, and walking lunges back to back to bring out the soreness.

Seriously! Though I was very impressed with my 35# dbs for the lunges and then went back to your log for some reason and noticed you used 75# dbs!!! Yeah I know I'm a girl, but still! That's some major lunges!
