Hee hee hee! Where's that darn devil smilie when you need one? I've got to get smilies on this dang new hard drive!!! Well, you should count yourselves lucky because I ALMOST took a picture, they looked so purty--but that would have been torture! Anyway, I managed to make myself hungry last night thinking of it so I've been repaid!!
Anne, I'm making your smothered pork in the crockpot today! Yummy... (but healthy, so it's okay. )

Celeste, I may have missed this, but was wondering if you had decided on whether you were going to the Summit in May or not? I have gone back and forth and back and forth . . . cuz I'm not a fitness professional (obviously ) and get no credits from it, so to speak. But, I want to go and learn something and anyway I'm mostly just curious on who else that I try to stay caught up with here is going????? Know what I mean?
Karen, I want to go SO badly, but I don't want it to become an issue with dh and I, so I'm letting it rest for a bit. He actually looked at the summit page a while ago, so I figured when things slow down a bit at work I will bring it up again.
I knew you'd have a good one! I feel much better now!
So I have to say I just LOVE my parents. Really. Even though they just dropped off their black lab puppy, who I'm highly allergic to, who is very rowdy and full of energy, who eats all the socks, hats, and gloves in the house, who I have to watch for two weeks, and, did I mention she's in HEAT?!!! Yep, parents are great.
Just to remind myself that I really do love them, I've got to post a picture of my very favorite Christmas present. This was from my dad, he found it at a yard sale this summer...
And some suspenders so my pants stop falling down all the time...
AWESOME gifts (and pics) Celeste! You look SO amazing too!!!
I am planning on the Summit, for whatever that's worth. Even if I can't get CEU's for it, I'd want to go - you do NOT have to be a professional to attend - just someone who wants to learn and have fun! My H is actually considering NOT going to a conference the same weekend so he can come with me - guess he deserves and extra hug tonight, eh?

Well then I HAVE to come! And yes, your dh deserves an extra hug (and anything else he might want! ) I did check out train tickets today--about $218, but I'd have to either come an entire day early or get in at like 11:00pm Friday night, in which case I'd miss the pre-summit socialization.

Me too--if we were closer, we could carpool!
Posting food for today--gotta run a few errands in town for dh and the ski area, and then pick up, kids, put them to bed, practice for tomorrow's quiz, etc blah blah blah.

Notes: I love my breakfasts! I have basically the same thing every day and it makes me so happy and not at all deprived.
The tortilla, vegetable, cheese and salsa thing is broiled--really yummy!
Thanks Anne, for the pork recipe! I always add mushrooms and though this time I used fat free cheese, I usually use full-fat or part-skim, and always a different cheese, too.
Probably last low-cal day because I AM going to the gym to start Maximum Strength on Monday!
AWESOME gifts (and pics) Celeste! You look SO amazing too!!!
I totally agree! DH was saying he was going to get me suspenders for my jeans/pants issues, but you actually got them ! And you look so cute in them! Oh, and I totally understand about that becoming an issue, which is why I haven't brought it up again either.

Bytsi, your husband definitely deserves the extra hug for that . I didn't even ask DH to come with because I know there's just no way that would work.

That's part of my concern. I looked online and it will cost over $500 to fly out of any airport in this state. If I went to Washington, it would be half the cost, but with the five-hour drive and who knows what gas prices will be in May, and the parking fees for overnight parking for 3 nights, etc. . .
I just saw that you were considering a road trip to the Summit. I was thinking about it too. I'm not sure if the price of the gas would kill us, but I'll do a little mapquesting research.
I thought I'd post a sort of year-end wrap-up with all my accomplishments/progress of 2008. I'm almost done with my goals for the next challenge, should be posting that soon!
I learned to LOVE lifting, working out, and just being active in general. I developed several new sport interests, like horseback riding, biking, martial arts, and even *gasp* running!
Lost 35# (ended up ~123, 6# under original goal weight) and improved body composition (from around 30%bf to around 21%). This is my high school weight, but I have much more muscular strength and fitness than I did then. (That is down 5 pants sizes from a 10 to a 1!)
Completed the NROL4W weightlifting program.
3. I learned that I CAN succeed in weight loss, which in turn fueled my motivation and confidence in lifting and basically every other area of my life.
4. I learned how to take time for me, that it's okay--good even, and that taking time to focus on my health and well-being can benefit my relationships and family life.
5. I "met" many new friends that encouraged and taught me along the way, and in turn hopefully inspired or encouraged some of them as well.
PRs:
Deadlifts: ? to 1RM of 190#
Bench Press: 15 @ 45# to 1RM of 105#
Squat: 15 @ 15# dbs to 1RM of 145#
Chinups: 0 to 10
Pullups: 0 to 5
Pushups: around 10 to 41 (probably couldn't do that many now though)
Rows: DBs from 20# to 40# each
FSPP: 55# to 70# (? Reps)
DB Snatch: 20# to 40#
One legged RDL: ? To 4 @ 40 each hand
I went from a completely sedentary, overweight slug of a mom to an active, strong, and maybe athletic woman who loves her new life, does fun stuff with her kids, and looks and feels better than ever before (yes, really!)

That's the whole point of the recipes, to give people a starting point. I don't think I ever make a recipe without changing it up a little. I'm on the hunt for a recipe to use up some round roast I bought on sale, cut up, and have in the freezer. I'm thinking crockpot, but not positive yet.
Hey thanks for stopping by my journal! You are one of the few people that understand my User Name. Are you doing the challenge? If so, good luck.
Yes, I'm in the challenge. I will post pics and stats when I get my goals completed.

Thanks, Kara! The squat PR, I should explain, was actually a box squat that I was doing incorrectly--so I should retest that, but I put it as a regular squat since it was more what it really was.

Ooh, I just checked flights from Buffalo and there are some for around $200 also. Got to talk to hubby!
First, you look great in those pics - so happy! And svelte.
Second, what a year you have had! Lost of strength gains and more importantly you are happy with yourself and how you feel.
A second the notion about being thankful for this board. Thanks for being an inspiration!
Thanks Bree...you're so sweet!

I doubt it, I think that was my body's "newbie" gift to myself!
Well, last night was very difficult due to a tragedy that affected our family severely. I can't talk about it online really, but I wanted to at least let you all know to be thinking of our family today, and others involved. I only got a couple hours of sleep and am now on my way in to work.
