Sorry to hear about your fall, but glad to hear you were wearing a helmet!
As for the rest of it, I don't even know where to start, so I'm just going to continuing to laugh about your kids.
And OW on your fall... kinda reminds me of Diane (Nutbar) when she fell down the hill but tried to save her iphone (at the cost of her ankle, I think???)
That's what it made me think of, too. Between that and the kid stuff, I think the two of us must be long-lost twins.
Bwah at "Birth Control"! Love the grin on his face! Your kids crack me up!
OUCH! You poor thing! I hope you're not too sore for long. And your poor sister. When it rain, it poors, huh?
Happy New Year!

Sorry to hear about the sicknesses! That's no fun - seems to happen at all the wrong times.
That picture of the floorboards is priceless!

Thanks everyone! My neck is improving--what's with all the injuries during "rest week?" I was thinking of going to the gym tomorrow but with all the hurtin', maybe I should wait?! (or never take a rest week again!)

Yeah, pretty much--homeschooling, lots of kids (though I'm done, thank you very much), even the rock picking!!! Maybe we were separated at birth...

Okay, on another note, what's with all the missing avatar pics, and WHO REORDERED ALL THE SMILIES?!!!!! It's just not right.
I also forgot to say how satifying it is to carry a 100# bag of horse feed from my car to the barn...made me very happy. (Although I had to put it down after like 20 yds and it was not so pretty picking it up again like 10 times before I made it the last half of the way...)

It IS cool, isnt it?! Go to the feed store, pick up a 50# bag in each hand (no 100# bags here), and not even grunt or grimace. Wink & flex at the group of old men who inevitably sit on the bench outside the store, gossiping as only old farmer dudes can. Before you know it, you have a feed store reputation and everyone knows you by sight. LMAO!
(Okay, okay... These days I'm lucky to pick up a roll of toilet paper without throwing out my back but I'll get back to it. )
Wow, Celeste, I'm gone for a couple of days and have a whole saga to read! LOL on the hamster and floor boards... How is the neck feeling? That's such a bummer. I hate it when I can't lift due to injury. Hopefully, you're planning a quiet, uneventful New Year's Eve. You deserve it!!

We buy our feed from the Amish (for comparison, a 100# bag from them costs the same amount as the 40# bag from Tractor Supply)--and I swear the lady that was helping her husband in the barn could have picked up a 100# bag in each hand!!! Love that image though!

Thanks, Pauline! My neck is almost better--it's more of a feeling that I slept on it wrong or something. It was never a horrible injury, more on the annoyingly sore side of things. As for a quiet, uneventful New Year's Eve, how about hosting a party at Ski Denton for a couple hundred people?!

Wow, I'm definitely behind here. Sounds like you've had lots of excitement (both good and bad) over the last little while.
Hi Anne, thanks for the good wishes...yeah, we've had lots of excitement, mostly good, so life continues, you know?

Hi there! Happy New Year to you too! (Thanks for the health wishes, I think I'm almost 100% so no excuses for not getting back into the swing of things today.)
So, Happy New Year to all my new friends on this forum! You all have been so encouraging and helpful to me this past year, and I do feel like I've gotten to know many of you. Here's to a great 2009!
As I mentioned above, we had a NYE "party" at Ski Denton last night. We started it a few years ago because there's really nothing in the area for families to do on NYE. So we keep it pretty cheap and sort of consider it a service to the local community (automatically extend lift tickets through midnight, tubing for $5 for the whole night, lift tickets for $15, etc etc.) It was BITTER cold (hovered around 5 degrees not counting wind chill), so our numbers were about half, but it was still a lot of fun and still pretty packed.
I could make a VERY long tale describing all the things that went wrong: one of the chairlifts was down and dh spent the entire day on a lift tower working on it, employees not showing up, office equipment breaking, radios not working, me having to take over kitchen manager for a bit b/c dh was still working on that lift, TWO soda machines not working at the beginning of the evening (did I mention we advertised FREE SODA all night long?!) But everything that broke was quickly fixed (except that darn lift, but luckily we do have 4 others), we had people coming out of the woodwork to help in areas where we were short, Shawn fixed the soda machines, and I managed to cook hamburgers and fries for long enough to smell like grease for the rest of the evening! We had no complaints, lots of thank yous and compliments, and I think a good time was had by all!
All my kids ended up coming with us and it worked very well, they all had fun and I put the two boys to bed in the sofa in Shawn's office about 10:30 or so. The two older kids got to participate in the torchlight parade (in the dark, with flares, right before midnight) since they're now junior instructors, so they were very excited and proud.
Now I'm snuggled up in my jammies spending a little time catching up on others' logs before I start taking down decorations and cleaning this disaster I call a home!
Tee hee.... the kids stories and quotes were great. Hope you have a happy New Year!

So, I'm posting a promise right now to report on my food for today. I have struggled for several days, starting out well and eating healthy, but getting waaaaay off-track as the day goes on. I'm hoping for a couple low calorie days before I start back to the gym on Monday. (Decided to wait for the neck to get all better, plus the Maximum Strength schedule seems to work better in terms of weeks.) I'm still craving junk, of course, though I'm not actually hungry.
Wow, lots of reading to catch up on. Wishing you a happy New Year.
Your pic of Luke reminds me of a conversation my brother-in-law and others were having a few days ago... about how kids will do something that we hope they'll NEVER do again, but we still have to say, "Okay, now stand next to what you've done while I get the camera." Nothing like sending our kids mixed messages.

Happy New Year, Celeste! It sounds like a good time was had by all at your house and at Ski Denton this holiday season!
Thanks, Karen! Hope you had a great evening also!

Okay, THAT's funny! I was using my laptop at Denton last night and thought to show some of our employees that pic (we all get silly about 10:30m, lol). So one rental guy asked Luke if he got in trouble, and he solemnly nodded his head yes--I was laughing, b/c he really didn't! But maybe the anticipation was bad enough!
So the threat of posting a food log kept me in line today. The calories are really low, but I really wasn't hungry--just that craving that wants to eat everything junk food in the house! And you'll see that I wasn't at my most creative either, but it was very yummy...

Food looks good! I need to remind myself to post what I eat. I'm not tracking, because to be honest... I just can't handle it, lol. But I should at least write what foods go in my mouth.
Your kid stories are too funny :-) Happy 2009! Best of luck with your goals!
Your New Years Eve party sounds very hectic! I used to run a Bingo and we would always have a special bingo for New Year's Eve and we would always be short of volunteers because of the holiday. I'm glad I don't do that anymore.
I hope your shoulder is feeling better. You would think that 11 winters spent in PA and I would know to be careful, but I always bite it really hard at least once each year. The last two years were at work and one was in front of the safety director! I hit the ground so hard my hard hat flew off my head. I was thinking they will tell me I'm not allowed to walk in the plant anymore until spring.
Your food is looking good. I can't wait to see how you do with Max Strength. I have the book and it looks so fun!
I tend to find that posting meals for the day does tend to keep me a little better in line. However, the days I'm off track then I don't always post. Oh well, it's a new year and we all get a clean slate.
Yeah, for example, the rest of that wheel of brie cheese was eaten as an appetizer with granny smith apples, walnuts, and a brown sugar-butter sauce! I...ahem...didn't log that!!!
Oh...no, that was a few nights ago. I made that appetizer one night that my sister was here. 933 is low, but I figured I'd just do the low cal thing today and maybe tomorrow. That's definitely not my normal though. I'm going to aim for 1600/1800 come Monday. But considering I wasn't really hungry today, that shows how much I ate yesterday!
Well, I didn't exactly make it clear with that first post. It was the thought of that yummy melted brie, brown sugar, and tart apples that just sent my mind whirling...
