Indeed - you'll love them SO much you'll want to do them ALL the time. You know, standing in line at the bank, or at the supermarket while looking over the organic produce... the possibilities are endless.
Funny thing is that I remember do burpees as kid, minus the push-up part. My kids do them in PE, but they call them something else.
I should point out that's it's been a while since I've done them. Maybe I should as punishment for dipping into the Christmas goodies one time too many.

I'm thinking about doing another one of those workouts now...I got attacked by chocolate covered pretzels this afternoon! I think I'm still ok calorie-wise, but protein is way down if I don't eat anything else. Hmmm. I've been so good this week, too! (My kids have been baking every day this week so far and this is the first I've had anything larger than a fingernail size bite, seriously.)

I like your body weight workouts you have been doing, too. I may have to try some of them next week when I am sans gym.
They are fun because they're different and not monotonous. Now I just need to get a little creative--I may have exhausted my grand arsenal of 5 bw exercises, lol!

If you did enough, for sure. The ones I was doing (jump, but no pushup) were hard enough!
Okay, I can't resist! My dad was here all day today trying to install a light for me in our living room that my husband hasn't had time to put up. He was being so nice, but it ended up being a nightmare with several trips to the hardware store and lots of grumpiness. Anyway, for the last trip, he had me pick up a set of steel nipples. Really. For real. Seriously. Do with that what you will.
Jump Burpees (10)
Run Stairs (5x16 up/down)
Lunges (15 each leg)
Jumping Jacks (15)
Swiss Ball Crunches (15)
28:07
The little boys joined in for a couple rounds. Micah hated the burpees, and during the second set of lunges, Luke said, "Mommy, I'm logging out for a little while!" They cheated on the stair runs too--they slid down on their butts super fast with their slippy footie pj's.
Venison is very like steak, but lots less fat/cholesterol. Some people say venison tastes "gamey", but I don't notice it. I love venison (and beef!), but venison is free and healthier! (My dh and son got 3 deer this year. I was hoping for 4, because we eat it like crazy and run out after just a few months.)
Ah, that's explains it. The free part. Both bison and venison here are fairly pricey. I've had venison a couple of times and enjoyed it quite well.

I'm going to try some venison as well as some buffalo. DH says the venison is too gamey for him so I'll see if I can just get a small portion to try. Thanks for the info!

:-) I also end up with almost all my parents' stuff out of their freezer after a few months, but it's mostly roasts. My husband doesn't leave any roasts.

Great videos! Thanks for sharing. We did the burpees today both with and without the pushup portion.
x2 Now I HAD to do the pushup/jump version when I worked out last night!
As for the venison, I have noticed that the gaminess depends on who butchers it. My husband is the greatest at this and washes all the meat thoroughly, no hair gets left behind (yuk), and he trims all the fat and connective tissue. I have noticed the stronger taste in others' meat when it wasn't butchered as carefully. (Once about 13 yrs ago we took a deer to a butcher--big mistake!!) Just a thought.

Thanks Jen, and likewise!!!
Forgot to say--122.8 today which is a miracle considering the junk I ate in the afternoon. Anyway, bf # is useless for trending but has been at about 20% for the last few weeks. For some reason my hydration level is so much higher (55% or higher) than the original 53% that I really can't compare. And it's always that level, so I guess I'll just start tracking from there?

Oh yes I get to hear about steel nipples all the time! I guy I work with is working on an old home restoration and there is always talk about nipples and hickeys - which I believe is some kind of metal clamp device that allows you to install a light fixture from a ceiling? Its funny listening to him talk on the phone...."yeah I need to order some 3 inch nipples"....LOL!
I ate a lot of venison growing up. Some deer were more gamey then others. I think it depended on where they came from. Mule deer form Montana seemed to be the gamiest. My dad gave me some elk he got last year and I really like it and didn't find it gamey at all, but my DH who didn't grow up with any venison or wild animal meat thought it was horrible. More for me!

Now that is funny! Like the Christmas present I received from dh a few years ago--"a system to help me always know where he is"--a stud finder. Ha ha. I suppose if you work with this stuff you get used to it but it still cracks me up!
As far as wild game goes, the only thing I've had so far that I really don't like is sting ray (yes, my husband went bow-fishing for it), and I'm not overly fond of bear. I do have a really good bear stew recipe though that makes it taste really yummy. We've successfully cooked and enjoyed squirrel, rabbit, deer, elk, moose, turkey, and pheasant. I prefer deer.

A dud workout:
I decided to mix things up a bit and use one of the free sessions with my new trainer today. We talked yesterday and discussed a little bit of what I've been doing, what I wanted to learn (front squat) and some of my weaknesses (glutes, hamstrings, back). So he had me warm up on the stepper for 10 minutes, we stretched for 10 minutes, and then we did:
Bent-Over Row: 2x10 @ 25#
Upright Row with shorter bar (the one with handles): 2x10
Upright Row with 25 or 35#? plate: 1x20
Back Extension: 3x10
Front Squat: Learn form with bar, 2x10 @ 55#
That's it! For an hour! Urgh. I don't even feel like I worked out. The only thing I can figure is that he took my little list literally, like that's all I wanted to do. Oh well, it was free.
So, SECOND useless workout of the day (but in a different way):
1 hr 10 minutes of shoveling 8 inches of heavy snow from our walkway, from the barn to the house, around the back of the house, and half of our driveway. Neighbor came over when I was doing our driveway (which is huge to shovel) and asked if I wanted him to bring the snowblower over. I said no thanks, I was getting a workout, and anyway, I was only doing half so dh had somewhere to park. So as soon as I finished, our partner from the ski area pulls in to pick up his daughter and thoughtfully plows the entire driveway with his truck! Duh. I forgot he'd be picking her up! Though it wasn't useless as far as fitness, just that I didn't really need to do it.
Great work in here Celeste! I'm with you on the shovelling. It's rare that I have to, living in the city and all, but when I do need to, it's quite a workout (oh, and it turns out my building pays someone to do it--learned that the hard way).
The laughable part of the whole venison thing is that I always complain that not even our deer are "organic"--they are cornfed! Meaning, they eat our garden and cornfields...
Yeah, we used to eat soy fed deer. Our farmer friend who let Mark hunt on his land was always trying to get rid of the soybean plant stealers who ruined his crop!
Hilarious!!! That had me laughing--though that way of talking is a little further south. I had a friend from Stroudsburg that always said "myin"--and I always said, "no, that's your-in!" Though everyone here does say "Dat car over dere"--annoying. And I refuse to say "I seen that!!!" in an obnoxious high pitched redneck tone...
I looked for some true redneck videos that would embody our area but I either don't have your patience or luck, one or the other. More videos of Potter County and Denton than I expected though!
I've never been a big fan of venison. My sis, OTOH, basically lives off of her. Her DH has gotten 5 deer already this year - so many they are giving them away!

I would totally agree with the most gamey mule deer coming from Montana, except I don't think I could judge fairly as I've never eaten any from anywhere else. Those deer eat a lot of wheat and dry stuff and run a long distance which probably explains their gamey taste.

My husband and son both hunt, but we give a lot of stuff away because my father-in-law raises beef and you can only fit so much stuff in freezers. We don't really have true grassfed beef (this is Montana after all and right now we've got 1-2 feet of snow), but we know exactly what they ate their entire life, so that's something.

Celeste, our deer are not organic either. They eat hay, wheat, canola, trees, and a lot of bought flowers . I figured I was doing well at getting "deer resistant" flowers and not having the deer start eating them until right after Labor Day.

They're really hard to get rid of once they find what they think is a reliable food source.
I also grew up on vension. As a kid we didn't buy beef until the vension ran out (usually around July). I actually haven't had it in a very long time as my husband and I don't hunt. My parents usually have some along with elk (which they perfer). Never did get into bear as usually its tough. My dad is still really into hunting - considering he's a taxidermist!

They must have farm tags? We are only allowed 2 each unless we have farm tags (damaging our crops, etc.)

Funny! Don't you love living in the country?! I used to hunt until my mil informed me that my oldest child took his first steps while she was bbsitting him during hunting season. I never went since.

Exactly--I hate buying red meat, considering all we eat for "free" (not counting hunting licenses, camo clothing, archery gear, guns, ammo, etc etc etc)

No workouts to speak of today! Weight the same, but I have a feeling it will be up tomorrow--I ate COOKIES today at ski denton--I went over to ski with my kids but ended up working almost all day. Never even got out, which was annoying, but I did waste time chatting a bit. I had all new tshirts and accessories to price and get into the shop, plus personal gear (ski pants) to order, and snowboards to order for the kids (their first!) Anyway, I had like 10 cookies before the day was over...
But on the bright side, Micah's birthday is tomorrow! (He'll be 7) We set up the basement and have a sign, "Micah's Secret Science Lab and Workshop"---here are some pics:
So the basement looks a little like a dungeon (it is!!) but he LOVES to go down there and create science experiments, build things, take apart old appliances and electronics, etc. I conspired with my mother and she got him some duct tape, safety glasses, screws and nails, an organizer for small parts, and some sandpaper. He will be SO excited! The really neat thing is that the older kids spent the entire evening after Micah went to bed organizing and setting up this area of the basement. They even carried in the tables and shelves from the shop so he would have the "perfect" area. I can't wait till tomorrow!!!
