Sorry, we crossposted...we're from Potter County. Just got 6 inches of snow this morning! And thanks about the workouts...that made me smile!

Edited to complain: my dad just brought over a BOX of fresh doughnuts. Aargh!

There's some new little shop/restaurant that just opened on my way to work. Don't ask me why....but it's a hot dog and donut shop....like I said...don't ask me!! Anyway, I guess to get people in, they are giving everyone a free donut this week from 7am to 10am. I've been SO tempted to stop in, but have not given in. Plus, I just can't wrap my head around a hot dog and donut shop. ***scratching head***

That does sound weird. And unappetizing.

Update--no doughnuts eaten, and only ONE christmas cookie eaten out of the three batches we made tonight. That one was planned, just trying to keep it at one!

It usually only takes the effort to put each index finger under the bar and barely touch it to help the lifter keep the bar moving. You rarely have to actually lift any of it for the person. Once it is up, you might help guide him to rack it. At least that's been my experience as a spotter for non-max attempts.

that and shout "It's all you" as appropriate

Very interesting!! Thanks for the info--I'll be sure to tell poor Dixie next time. Since I can count my # of flat bench presses on two hands, if not one, I'm not that knowledgeable on that front. and lol on the "it's all you!" comment!!! AND thanks for stopping by my log!

Celeste.. you crack me up.

They must have retreted due to the cold (or heat). Men's little things do this .

Came in to tell you that I know why my bf% didn't change while BW did drop. I figured out why: average carb intake went down for a bit from around 200g/day on avg to 180g/day. This might be just enough to keep me more dehydrated... just food for thought.

(did you see my response to your Q in Leah's log?)

Yes, I just hadn't figured out a response. My carb intake has also gone down a bit, but my hydration levels are consistent. Of course, for some reason I've been very hydrated lately (55% as compared to 53%) so my bf% reads around 19 or 20! Crazy! Like to see that number, but it's definitely not true!

Funny on the bench press spotter thing. I always feel when I need the spotters help like they are lifting the whole thing for me. So maybe that should be my play next time. Find an old lady to help me with my 1 rep max lift.

i've never spotted a 1RM attempt, more like a 5 rep set, that sort of thing. i can only tell you that I was told not to lift it for him, just to help keep the bar moving.

Hi back! I know you've been busy. Hope you get those good results from finals!

Well, went to my kids' youth group open house today plus the little kids' Christmas musical. I'll tell more about it later, but it went well. Gave myself permission to eat snackies today at church in the morning (muffin and 2 donuts! ) and a couple cookies and fudge tonight. Planned, but the morning kinda got out of control. Anyway, it's fine. I think it's the first off-plan day I've had since Thanksgiving. A little over 2000 calories, if my estimations were right (I tried to go high), and 100g protein.

Tonight, watching Survivor--75 min on the elliptical. Slightly higher heart rate than usual since it was so tense! I know Survivor is shallow and silly, but I love it anyway. BUT, I'm going to bed now cause I'm beat. 6:00 comes too soon some days...

You deserve a little break if you've been on plan all this time. The body will think you're now longer depriving it and whoosh away that last little bit of fat!!! And yes, that's my professional opinion!

How do you do cardio for 75 minutes!?! I've never used the elliptical but I can't imagine lasting that long. You are amazing.

Great job resisting the tempation!

I did ask my trainer if she wanted to to try to measure me with calipers, but she feels that the tanita there is more accurate (which it probably is if she hasn't done it before.) I'm going to email the other gym and find out if they do caliper measurements. The nearest Bod Pod is in Buffalo (2 hrs away) and although I've called several times, I haven't gotten any response.
You are really doing great! I am going to have my bf% done by calipers tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Okay, here's a funny one. Right after I told Tom I wasn't getting any more training sessions, I called the gym that I'm switching to. As I talked to the owner, he told me about specials he's running right now on memberships. Long story short, he gave me a huge discount on a one-year membership AND threw in 5 training sessions with himself, AND told me I could start coming now instead of in January! So now I have 5 sessions with a personal trainer. and only spent less than $30/month!
Great job on the bootcamp class. You are really finding the deals. First on the clothes and now on the gym and free training sessions. That's just wonderful. I wish I had your luck!

Last night, spent another 60 minutes on the elliptical (HR 140 or so) while watching Survivor.

This morning's workout (12-12-08):

Warmup: Foam Rolling, Dynamic Warmup from Maximum Strength

Chinups: 10, 7, 6

Superset:
Deadlifts: 3x10 @ 135
Pushup Combo: 3x15

Superset:
Lunges: 1x10 @ 20e, 2x10 @ 25e
Cable Tricep ?Pushdowns?: 3x10 @ 48#

Superset:
Bench Press: 2x10 @ 75#, 1x8 @ 75#
DB Snatch: 3x10 @ 25#

Chinups: (This is BARELY a PR, but the first time I've done more than 5 or 6 after getting 10 in the first set. Also, I usually alternate exercises, and I didn't today.)
Deadlifts: I've gotten inspired by Bree here... Really have to focus to ensure good form here--I slipped a few times just because I wasn't paying attention.
Pushup Combo: nice break between the deadlifts!

Superset:
Lunges: Going a little light to save the knees. Good news is my trainer figured out what I'm doing. On the way down I always pay careful attention to knee placement, but on the way back UP I often push forward which puts pressure on my knee. Now I just have to pay attention! (Do I detect a pattern here?)
Cable Tricep ?Pushdowns?: 3x10 @ 48#

Superset:
Bench Press: Asked the little old lady at the front desk to help me out on these. The first 2 sets went ok, but I wasn't sure about the last. I knew she couldn't spot me per se, but I figured she could take a plate off if I needed. Actually, I was just being safe because I really thought I could do it. DB Snatch: Fun!

And DARN, I forgot to add a row! I was planning on it but it completely slipped my mind...maybe instead of that tricep thing.

123.8 this morning, so the bounce is beginning to retreat...
Great workout. Awesome on the chinups. I still have a goal to do 10 in a row.

Keep up the good work in here!

First - great job on the deadlifts! I was so afraid to try 135 for a long time because I worry about form and all that good stuff. Turns out my grip failed before my body.

I totally lol'd at this. I have never had an ample bosom, but whatever I had left is definitely getting smaller, too! In addition to new pants, I have to slowly find new bras. Sigh.

Well, I didn't gain anything so that's something--124.0 this morning, which is where I've been bouncing back and forth from 123.

I don't know if I'd actually call it "cardio". Call it a little more than extra NEAT--barely broke a sweat even. When I'm going high intensity, 20-30 min is all I manage, but medium to low, watching something interesting, is better than just sitting on my butt, basically. I read somewhere that low intensity is better for losing fat without the lbm than high intensity. But who knows if it's right. All I know is that I have energy in the evening for low intensity stuff, but not intervals.

So the chinups will come quick once you can do a few. (From my experience anyway...)

Implants....

This morning's workout (12-15-08):

Warmup: Foam Rolling, Dynamic Warmup from Maximum Strength

Chinups: 10, 4, 3

Superset:
Deadlifts: 3x10 @ 135
Bench Press: 3x10 @ 75#

Superset:
Lunges: 3x10 @ 30e
DB 2-Pt Row: 3x10 @ 25e

Superset:
DB Snatch: 1x10 @ 30#, 2x10 @ 25#
Planks: 3x60 sec

Chinups: Weird. 10 was not easy, but I made it. Then, NO more energy for the other sets. Cookies and fudge don't make for good lifting energy?!

Deadlifts: So so--didn't feel that great, but focusing on my form I thik I was ok. ??

Bench Press: Barely a PR, but I'll take it.

Superset:
Lunges: These felt really hard. I did move up by 5# each db, but I know I've done them before (or close to it).
Row: I finally remembered!

Superset:
DB Snatch: Not so fun today. Boy everything felt harder!
Plank: thought I should work these back in...

So I went to the new gym this morning! Their brochure says they open at 6:30, so I showed up around 6:45 after foam rolling at home. But it was all dark. I hung out until 7:00 when I saw a friend of mine running up the sidewalk--he turned into the gym entrance and unlocked it! I guess the owner will give you a key if you come in early, b/c he's not always there. So strange, but it works, I guess. Anyway, the setup is nice, if a little cramped. My workout sucked, but only because of my nutrition and maybe sleep (Luke was awake from 3:00-4:00 am and kept coming in my room to ask me things). It's kinda more like a club in a way--there were only a few people there but they all knew each other and some came over to introduce themselves to me. I was all alone in the free weight room which is how I like it anyway.

I totally lol'd at this. I have never had an ample bosom, but whatever I had left is definitely getting smaller, too! In addition to new pants, I have to slowly find new bras. Sigh.
Thanks Nothing like fishing for compliments, eh?

Yeah, I never realized how EXPENSIVE losing weight would be!

Glad the new gym had room for ya' in free weights... I'd be pretty annoyed to stand around waiting for someone to show up - hope you get your own key soon if you go that early!

Tell me about it. The clothing I don't mind so much, but I don't think any of my high heels fit anymore. That just doesn't seem right!

It is, really. I had to replace my running shoes (blisters), and had to suck it up and buy a new pair of boots this week. The shoes I wear to school most days aren't too bad, but they're a little loose as well. I figure next spring I'll have to do something about them. It's weird as I've been a 9-1/2 or a 10 for decades. Now I'm an 8-1/2 or a 9. Definitely weird.

I just got new bras over the weekend. As expensive as they are, there's something to be said about bras that fit! Oh, and ones that have enough padding in them to make it look like you have boobs.

Anne, that is weird!

Yeah, I think I can get my key, from the comments of the other members. Weird I think to give out keys to your gym with expensive equipment, etc, but, hey, if it works for him...

Now that is sad. Course there might just be some new shooz out there calling your name!

I may have to invest in some of those!

Me, too! But, finding new pants is so much easier than finding new bras. I am still having to wear mostly sport bras because I know that they will fit. When I have time to really shop in January I'm going to a professional fitter to just finally get bra shopping over with.

My husband said the sweetest thing the other day. I was commenting on my bust size and he said, "It's like Cracker Barrel." Had no clue what he was talking about. He said, "You know, just enough. Yeah, you're smaller than you were, but you're just enough!" (That's the name of the breakfast special I get a lot for those of you without Cracker Barrel restaurants).

Hear you on this one... losing weight has cost me several hundreds of dollars in new clothes and some of the clothes are too big now! It's crazy!
