Wow! All I can say. Great job on the loss but more importantly the pants! I know what you mean about vanity sizing, but having been a 10 and now a 1....that is a major difference! Keep it up
I also use a tanita bio-impedance scale and it has trended down over the past year, it still is frustrating. I would agree that how your clothes are fitting is going to be a better gauge, but I like to see the #'s, too. Have you thought about getting tested another way? I was dissapointed to learn that my gym doesn't do caliper testing. Lame. I really want to get tested another way to compare.
How are your clothes fitting? If they're getting looser I'd say not to give the bf% a second thought.
They are getting looser, so much that I just got a bunch of new stuff on clearance so I wouldn't swim in them so much! But still, what's going, muscle or fat?

my husband used to bible quiz as a kid and i've been to a meet - pretty exciting stuff! of course, we catholics never did anything quite as exciting, guess that's why i'm a very lapsed catholic, sigh...
Our team won two out of the four quizzes, but my kids in particular didn't do too well... We got off track somewhat this month. Oh well...
Celeste, GREAT shopping day! I also hate shopping and to have a day like that would be awesome. I can't believe you accomplished so much with kids in tow. You must have VERY well behaved kids!!!
Congrats on another new low on the scale! I know it's so hard to look at the BF%. For now, I'm no longer tracking BF. It's just too frustrating. I think for this month, I really want to try to lean out and if I do lose some muscle then I know how to add it back. Like they say, you can't do both at the same time. At least most people can't. Maybe make Dec your cutting month to see how low you can get then after the first of the year start bulking. Just an idea.

Thanks for the pants comment--I get so caught up in the fact that it's not "really" a size 1 thatI forget the comparison between 8/10 and 1 is still a big difference!
I did ask my trainer if she wanted to to try to measure me with calipers, but she feels that the tanita there is more accurate (which it probably is if she hasn't done it before.) I'm going to email the other gym and find out if they do caliper measurements. The nearest Bod Pod is in Buffalo (2 hrs away) and although I've called several times, I haven't gotten any response.

You are doing great!!!!
Ha ha, I keep cross-posting! Anyway, my kids are often well-behaved, but when they're bad... Lukey was throwing his socks over the door of the changing room and trying to crawl out to retrieve them by the end of the Old Navy trip!
You know, you're right about the cutting. That was my original plan, but I was second guessing what I was doing b/c it didn't seem to be working the way I had hoped. Thanks for the re-encouragement.
Wow, Celeste, you are really on a roll! A size 1??? Holy cow...you must be looking teeny tiny! And the scale weight keeps dropping. I have to spend more time in your log to keep me motivated. All your hard work has really paid off. Nice!

x2! I definitely need to spend more time here LOL! GREAT JOB!

Thanks, Lori, you are so encouraging!
Well, I'm trying to decide right now whether to do some online Christmas shopping or get on the elliptical. I've got several coupons that expire today, so maybe I'll try to get both in...
Involuntary fasted cardio: We were awoken by a neighbor pounding on our door at 6:30, telling us our horses were out. So we quick got dressed and headed out, thinking they were right out there. BUT, we ended up hiking all over the hill behind our house and finding them WAayy over on someone else's fields! It took about 2 1/2 hrs from start to finish, probably 2 hrs of it was actual hiking through knee-deep snow, uphill, over logs, you name it! I'm BEAT and fixing my breakfast right now. But the horses are all ok, so that's good news.
LOL at the horses! Those tricky bastards can open gates I swear it. First day I got my new TB, he opened the latch in the middle of the night and was in the grass outside the barn when the trainer showed up. And to do it on a snow filled day too is just about what you can expect from them as well. Anything to make it more inconvienent. Glad to hear they are back safe and sound.
So a size 1 at 5'5" huh? I'm curious as to what people are saying about the way you look at this point. I hit 118 (I too am 5'5") and people were telling me that my face was drawn and that I did not look so good. Do you have an idea of what you are now trying to accomplish with further weight loss especially since you have (seemingly) hit that place where LBM is dropping faster than fat? It might be a good time for you to wrap your head around what it is that you are seeking if you haven't already. It is always a bit weird I think when a person hits really low bf% goals.

Celeste, so glad the horses are back home safely. What a way to start the day!! Super exciting on the continued weight loss!!!
Thanks Chloe--I was most worried that they would get hit by a car and someone would get badly hurt (not to mention the horse getting hurt). Then when we realized they were up on the hill, I was worried about hunters.

That's what I was thinking the whole time! I wish I had gotten a snack first, though--I was STARVING, and for the last hour was really light-headed and sick to my stomach.

The good part about the snow was that we could track them (ME--now I'm the great white hunter!). Otherwise, we NEVER would have found them. I had never even been where they ended up, and wouldn't have thought to look there. No roads, either, so we wouldn't have crossed several fields and patches of forest to randomly end up finding them.
As far as what others say, so far they are telling me I look good. No one is saying that I have gone too far or look too thin, although my dad did tell me he thinks I lost enough. Basically, my goal was to get in that 19-22% bf range (from Lyle MacDonald's article posted previously in my log) so when I start eating at a little higher calories, that I could gain mostly muscle and not much fat.
Anyway, while I do think my bf% might be slightly lower than 24%, it's not much lower.

Aw, shucks! Thanks, Ginger!
So yesterday after recovering from the horse adventures, I ate breakfast, showered, and prepared for a lunch meeting. Immediately after that, my mother, daughter and I went back to Olean to continue the shopping adventure! We had a great time, but didn't get home until after 11:00. It's weird, because in addition to all the Christmas shopping I had to do, I needed groceries, clothes for Bethany (ALL of her new fall clothes are too small as she grew like 3-4" in the last 3 months!), protein powder, etc etc etc. So everything takes so long when you have so many goals! Anyway, I think I spent my husband's entire paycheck (well, maybe not ALL of it), but we got a lot done. I think all I have to do is order gifts online and go to the natural foods store for the stuff I couldn't find at Wal-Mart (read, most of it, lol!)
Best buy of the day: We stopped at a thrift store on the way there that was having a $1/bag sale. I didn't really think we'd find anything, but we ended up getting almost three full bags of nice clothing for Bethany (lots of brand names, even), a pr of jeans for me, and a cool blue velvet dress that I might be able to wear for Christmas. All for $3!!
Best saying of the day: DD says, "Mom, I LOVE the clearance racks!!!!" (She is just barely big enough to begin wearing the S or XS in juniors, of course she loves the styles, but she doesn't yet have the attitude yet that I did at her age about clearance clothing.)
Best gift of the day: I bought 6yo son a toolkit, cordless drill, duct tape, safety goggles, and a bunch of scrap wood for his birthday coming up before Christmas. He is a builder and "inventor" and is always making something or taking something apart. I decided to take the plunge and set him up a workshop of his own in the basement, complete with lots of nails, screws, things to take apart and ideas of things to make. So you may be tempted to call child services, but we'll give the safety lessons first of all, and second of all, our tools will stop going missing!!!
Hi Tracey! Thanks for checking in here, and thanks for the encouragement!
So I had a workout that I forgot to post yesterday!
My LAST workout with my trainer... Basically we did the same circuit workout that we did on Monday.
Warmup: NO foam rolling (I opted to sleep in as I was exhausted from all that shopping lol!)
Mobility/Stretching from Maximum Strength
5 min fast walk on treadmill with incline
5 rounds of interval/circuit training:
1. 3 min on treadmill, sprints, then 2 min arms (dbs), 1 min crunches w/weight
2. 3 min on elliptical, 2 min arms (tricep dips and something else?), 1 min abs
3. 3 min on stepmill, sprints, 2 min row variations, 1 min plank
4. 3 min stepper, 2 min chest, 1 min walking plank
5. 3 min treadmill, 2 min shoulders?, 1 min crunches
Treadmill was really fun this time--she quickly raised the speed to 10.1mph, left it for about 15sec, and then SLOWLY lowered it to 5 or 6mph two times during the 3 minutes I was on there. I was amazed I could do it, b/c 8mph is the fastest i've ever done during intervals. Of course, she didn't leave it there for a whole minute, either.
Planks: I was surprised the walking planks were actually harder than the static planks. I guess it was later in the workout, but they seemed more like torture!
My face was BRIGHT red by the time this was over...
Today, I have a chance to go to the boot camp class that I used to attend. This week the classes are free for anyone that has paid for a month earlier in the year. Tuesday I couldn't go, which was ok b/c it was weights anyway, but today is kickboxing, which I LOVE! So I'm excited.
Wow - great workout! I love kickboxing classes, too.

Enjoy this while you can! I am sure your daughter will be more level headed then I was, but I was such a brat about name brand clothes as a teen. I feel bad for my mom. She still can't believe I buy clothes at Target now.

Yeah, it's different when it's your own money, isn't it?!

No--it was fun, but the only reason I even did it was because dh had those sessions he was never going to use. I'm also going to be going to a different gym.
Glad the horses are safe and sound and DEAL on your purchases!
Your interval/circuit training would have probably done me in! lol
Thanks!

Boot Camp was really fun! I was a little worried that I wouldn't have enough energy since I haven't been doing very much cardio lately and it's really intense. But I decided to go all out anyway and I made it! Actually, I was proud of myself because I wasn't even half dead at the end!
Okay, here's a funny one. Right after I told Tom I wasn't getting any more training sessions, I called the gym that I'm switching to. As I talked to the owner, he told me about specials he's running right now on memberships. Long story short, he gave me a huge discount on a one-year membership AND threw in 5 training sessions with himself, AND told me I could start coming now instead of in January! So now I have 5 sessions with a personal trainer. and only spent less than $30/month!

Holy crap.... you just keep finding the deals, huh? That's awesome!
Glad you got the horses back safely... there must have been quite a jump in your blood pressure when you got the knock on the door!
Yeah--I stumbled down the stairs, had been in a DEEP sleep, and as soon as he told me, I was WIDE AWAKE!!!! Not as panicked as dh though--I put on a coat, jeans, gloves, and boots. He ended up in shorts! The weird thing was that I almost always am up by 6:00--if I don't go to the gym, I don't use an alarm, but I still wake up. I'd been up late the night before Christmas shopping online, but I guess the person who first saw the horses out knocked on our door, then the neighbor called us, then he finally came over and knocked before I finally woke up!

Now that's a bargain! Can you come do my Christmas shopping for me??
Now that's a bargain! Can you come do my Christmas shopping for me??
Yeah, used to be I could barely move at the end of it! All dead!
So, good things:
1. It's snowing!!
2. Watching 6yo son cuddling his cat, lying on his back in the yard.
3. 4yo son just announced: "Mom, I had a GOOD dinner!" When asked what he had (even though I knew)--he says, "a taco, celewy, and block-o-li! Yum!"
4. 13yo and 6yo idea of a great treat is broccoli and a huge salad. (At least I did something right...)
Chinups: (This is BARELY a PR, but the first time I've done more than 5 or 6 after getting 10 in the first set. Also, I usually alternate exercises, and I didn't today.) Deadlifts: I've gotten inspired by Bree here... Really have to focus to ensure good form here--I slipped a few times just because I wasn't paying attention. Pushup Combo: nice break between the deadlifts!
Superset: Lunges: Going a little light to save the knees. Good news is my trainer figured out what I'm doing. On the way down I always pay careful attention to knee placement, but on the way back UP I often push forward which puts pressure on my knee. Now I just have to pay attention! (Do I detect a pattern here?) Cable Tricep ?Pushdowns?: 3x10 @ 48#
Superset: Bench Press: Asked the little old lady at the front desk to help me out on these. The first 2 sets went ok, but I wasn't sure about the last. I knew she couldn't spot me per se, but I figured she could take a plate off if I needed. Actually, I was just being safe because I really thought I could do it. The first 5 reps were easy, 6-8 ok, and then all of a sudden that was IT! I got stuck on 9 about halfway up. So she just took the lighter plates off and then it was ok. Funny though! DB Snatch: Fun!
And DARN, I forgot to add a row! I was planning on it but it completely slipped my mind...maybe instead of that tricep thing.
123.8 this morning, so the bounce is beginning to retreat...
