Yes, it's true. I've jumped on the TNT bandwagon. I've done so for a number of reasons. First, my long-term goal for ages has been to be 180 at 10% bf or lower and, while I've managed to hit 180, I've been stuck at 13-14% for quite a while now. As Alwyn says, if what you're doing isn't working, you need to try something different. I've never done the low-carb thing .... let's see what happens. I see it as a bit of an experiment really. I do not want to lose what muscle I've gained however, so I am going to be jumping to Plan E as soon as I can. Depending on how things go, I may adjust over to Adam's Diet. Like I said, this is experimenting.
Secondly, my wife wants to lose some weight and I convinced her to give TNT a go too. So I'm doing this to support her in her efforts.
Finally, I'm going to Australia for a month in July on vacation and I want to look good for that. Yeah, yeah, vanity .... I know. Whatever.
Truth be told, I actually started TNT last Monday. I didn't say anything because, quite frankly, I'm not sure I could do it. I really didn't want to make a big foofarah and then fall flat on my face. Having got through week 1, I'm relatively confident, I can stick with this.
How's the week been? A bit of a rollercoaster really. Days 1 and 2 were dreadful. I felt kind of nauseous and REALLY tired. Like go home from work and sleep on the couch sort of tired. Weird. I never am like that normally. I struggled with sluggishness all week but it's improved after day 3 and is getting better. No nausea problems after day 2 either. I've been 100% compliant, I'm happy to say - even when I went out on a department lunch for work and a charity breakfast later in the week (it was a served breakfast and they actually had eggs, bacon and sausages ... just skipped the OJ and danishes that were on the table. )
Definitely missing some stuff .... dessert (I have a sweet tooth) and bread (I LOVE good bread ... this one is the hardest on the weekend). And some stuff just isn't as good .... like coffee with full cream and splenda (usually have 2% milk & sugar) or, even worse, tea with full cream and splenda . On the upside, my Starbucks bill is considerably lower, having skipped lattes all week.
I've been doing the TNT advanced workouts ... got two under my belt so far. Given that they're Cosgrove programs, it was a fairly easy switch up from the NROL program I was doing lately. Also did a cardio day in mid-week. Still feeling my way through the new program but taking it cautiously to avoid any re-injury. I do NOT want to go back there.
As for my back/thigh/sciatica thing ... ... it's doing fairly well, thank you. I can't say I'm 100% but I think I have a much better idea of what I need to do to avoid injury so I'm hoping that I can beat this thing. Time will tell.
So that's it. An experiment. Let's see what happens between now and July 5th when I fly off over the Pacific.

Warmup:
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Neck Rotations to each side
10 Shoulder circles (backwards)
10 Arm Circles (forwards and backwards)
10 Lunges
10 Static Side Lunges
10 B/W Squats
10 Hip Extensions
10 Lying Straight Leg Raises
10 Side Leg Raises
10 Pushups Plus
10 Thoracic Rotations
10 Fire Hydrant In-Outs
10 Groiners
Comments: Good workout though not too trying after NROL. Could definitely have gone heavier on the DB bench but was limited by my downtown gym's DB set. Will have to do this one at my other gym from here on in or switch to BB press. Liked the warmup a lot - really gets the blood moving. And the BSS were fine now that I'm engaging my lower back muscles and glutes appropriately. A good start.

Comments: 20 rep sets suck. I felt like a little girl when I started with the chosen weights but by #20, I was glad I'd gone light. The shoulder presses in particular were killers even with on 20 pounders. Could have gone heavier on the goblet squat but, again, playing it safe. I'm liking these nice quick workouts. I got through it so quickly I added a final superset of curls and tricep pushdowns for fun .

Oh no, I see I made a typo in my thread title ... damned indecisiveness. And this is one I can't change as a mod. Ack. Cap it hand to JP ....

With the whole family? That's a long time! I hope it's a good one.
Glad you got through the week well on TNT. I know how those diets can suck (probably why I don't do them) but I'm sure it's nice to have your better half doing it with you. That has to be rewarding. I'll be following your journey.
Straight into the advanced workouts in probably the right decision you. Good luck.

Cool. Now that you made it a week, it should be smooth sailing. I think that keeping the fat up helped me with my energy levels, but some people eat less fat and still do really well.
I know TNT says not to track calories, but I found it really helpful the first couple weeks to track it and make sure I was getting enough overall calories. It's really easy to undereat if you're not used to high fat.

Congratulations on getting through your first week! I'm almost done with week 4. I miss my lattes too. I'll echo the comment about fitday. I didn't enter every day, but here and there. It helped me realize I had doubled my sodium intake and had not increased water intake and it was giving me terrible headaches!
Thanks everyone for looking in on the new training log. I appreciate all the support.
Roland - the typo was an "apostrophe s" on K-Court in the title on the first go around. It must have got fixed before you looked in. Now I don't feel like a grammar moron.
Bill and Leah - not sure about fitday. I've certainly done fitday logging in the past but I must say one of the things that appealed to me about TNT was the authors' insistence that you didn't need to count calories or do anything "scientific" on this diet. While I hear what you're saying, for the time being I'm going to follow it as strictly as I can and see how my body responds. I do take your point that it's a challenge meeting the fat requirements. I certainly think that had a lot to do with my issues at the beginning of the week. But I'm feeling pretty comfortable at this point.
Ben & Richie - I can already see a little fat loss from the abs. Still a LONG way from the Brad Pitt variety though. And, no, I won't be lifting my shirt at the summit, Ben!
Neil - I have been lifting pretty regularly for 4 years now and have done a lot of NROL so felt pretty comfortable jumping right into the advanced workouts. Seems to have been the right choice so far.
Terry - thanks for dropping in, bro!

Comments: Good workout but again, on paper it looks easier than in the execution. Weights were reasonable. Sets of 12 pullups at the end of the workout were definitely challenging. Got them all though the 12th rep in the last set was not pretty. Weighed myself and I'm 177, down 2 pounds from my starting weight. I'm hoping it's fat loss! (Don't worry - I'm not going to get paranoid about my weight ... I've read all the comments in the other logs!! )

Yeah, that's my feeling exactly, Roland. The fitday logging gets pretty tired quickly IMHO.

My only tip is to really watch the fiber intake. For most people it drops dramatically on TNT and similar low-carb plans, and sometimes it can cause GI issues.
And could you work in some more emoticons, old man? Heh!

Hi Rob - I concur with not counting, as well as for weight loss I have other carb issues, and using my diet which converged on a TNT diet I don't count anything, and it seems to give me super control. I am intrigued by your workouts, I just got TNT and will have to check out the workouts. Sure is easier to read workouts than do them, even if one is regular and disciplined about gym time. Three workouts a week does not get you through buying 2 or 3 books a year on fitness and the workouts they suggest.

+1
Learned that the hard way during my first round of keto. Dunno about y'all up there, but Target has the cheapest store-brand fiber supps around here.

Thanks, RL. I haven't had any issues so far but I have heard this comment a number of times now. I'm eating lots of veggies but acknowledge that a supp is probably in order too.

Don't have Target up here. Any brands/products you'd suggest?

Thanks, Bac. We have a Costco nearby. I'll check it out.

Around here you can't bet Costco. But you do feel a little weird buying it in the bulk supplies they sell it in.
Fibersure, is what I have been using, since I learned the hard way
+3. I had a very really really bad time the first time around on this plan. Now I use a fiber supplment that I picked up at the local Target store. The extra fiber really does help and I am back to midseason form on the throne .
Someone else mentioned keeping a fitday log to track your calories. Good idea as I found that I was "undereating" the first couple of days due to insufficient fat in my diet.
This is week 4 for me on this diet. I feel a little difference in the way my pants fit me, however, i have a long way to go before I am "ript" and all that sort of thing.
Best wishes to you on this diet. I will continue to follow your progress on here.
