TNT Advanced Workout C (Week 5) 5/24/08

Warmup:
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Neck Rotations to each side
10 Shoulder circles (backwards)
10 Arm Circles (forwards and backwards)
10 Lunges
10 Static Side Lunges
10 B/W Squats
10 Hip Extensions
10 Lying Straight Leg Raises
10 Side Leg Raises
10 Pushups Plus
10 Thoracic Rotations
10 Fire Hydrant In-Outs
10 Groiners

Weight Workout

Straight Sets
Wide-grip Deadlifts 3X10 @ 175

Superset 1
DB Incline Bench Press 3X10 @ 55s
Seated Row 3X10 @ 100

Superset 2
Chinup 3X10 @ b/w
Scaption + Shrug 3X10 @ 15s, 12s, 12s

Comments: Dead tired from staying up way too late last night so was worried this was going to be a disaster, but it turned out OK. Not great, but OK. However, I AM going to go for a nap now. The scaption+shrug is another new exercise for me and was harder than the description made it appear to be. I started with 15s and got the set done but I wasn't getting full ROM on the shrug so dropped to 12s in the second and third sets and that worked much better. Had hoped to add a bit of weight to the chins but decided against it at this late stage of the workout. A brief comment on the diet. This is my first carb-up under Plan E after almost 5 weeks of low carb. Let's just say my digestive system is not appreciating the change-up .... for the sake of decency we'd better leave it at that.

Interested to see how long it takes you to "take" to plan E.

It's not SO bad, Jamie. I'm OK. Just a little unexpected, that's all. I had a hard time the first few days of Plan A. I don't think my body adjusts well to dramatic change. Back to low carbs at noon tomorrow.

Call it what you will, Terry, but I won't be following Plan A next weekend ... there will definitely be beer in the offing!

TNT Advanced Workout A (Week 6) 5/26/08

Warmup:
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Neck Rotations to each side
10 Shoulder circles (backwards)
10 Arm Circles (forwards and backwards)
10 Lunges
10 Static Side Lunges
10 B/W Squats
10 Hip Extensions
10 Lying Straight Leg Raises
10 Side Leg Raises
10 Pushups Plus
10 Thoracic Rotations
10 Fire Hydrant In-Outs
10 Groiners

Weight Workout

Straight Sets
Wide-grip Deadlifts 4X5 @ 195 (+10)

Superset 1
DB Incline Bench Press 2X5 @ 70s; 2X5 @ 65s (+5EH 1st 2 sets)
Seated Row 5 @ 170; 2X5 @ 180; 5 @ 190

Superset 2
Chinup 4X5 @ +30 (+5)
Hanging Leg Raise (full ROM) 4X5

Comments: Solid workout. The deads are still a little light but I really am babying my back. I tried to increase the inclines by 5 but crapped out after two fairly iffy sets so dropped back to 65s which ended up being much more solid. Used the cable machine so no comparitor there from last workout. Weights were good - will do 190 for all sets next time. Chinups went up fine - can increase weight there next time. Move to 5X5 next time I do this - fun, fun, fun ....

Weight's up a bit ... just over 180. Perhaps the weekend carbing coming home to roost ...

One more workout before Little Rock!!!

You know, Rob, every time I read your warmup routine, I think of this:
It's just a jump to the left.
And then a step to the right.
With your hands on your hips.
You bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane.
Let's do the time-warp again.
YouTube - The Time Warp!

Especially the part where everyone falls down at the end. I think your warmup would wear me out.

And just to turn this back into a family-friendly log, I don't think anyone could get into too much trouble for clicking that link.

Brent
(nice on the chins, by the way)

LOL Brent. It's not that dissimilar. (Man, I haven't seen that movie for a long time ... reminds me of some teenage adventures I had in theatres throwing rice and soaking the crowd with squirt guns ... but I digress .... )

Thanks about the chins. I was pleased they went up so easily. Definite room for more weight next time, even with the extra set I think.
