Good to know! I get bored too. Maybe instead of leaving the gym when I get bored, I could just switch machines. Wow! What a novel idea!

Was supposed to get to the gym but with the dog situation, kid duties and a late-at-work spouse, it didn't happen. So .... guess what I'm doing at lunch?

Good point, Jamie. He is doing remarkably well. He's still tired, which is due to the anemia of course, but other than that, he seems pretty content. We're cherishing each healthy day we have with him as we know there won't be that many more. Like the doc said, he doesn't even know he's sick at this point.

Nice!

I was doing 3x15 Bulgarian Split Squats with 25lbs, and on the third set I was certain my legs were going to fall off. Good for weight loss, but bad for 40 yard sprints.

Good job fitting in the lunchtime workout. Those are rushed for me, but sometimes you just have to. And the BSSs. Those and step-ups are just killers. Nice big dumbbells.

Rob- You are really getting strong there. Nice numbers. 65db on the bench press impressive. I was doing 60's before I took my last huge break from training. So I am impressed..keep up the good work!

Doug, 15-rep BSS should be outlawed as cruel and unusual punishment!

Brent & Jemmie - thanks. Brent - you're looking HYOOGE in the new avatar, especially your arms. Nice work, man.

Thanks, Jamie. When you see him, it's hard to believe he's on the way out. In a way, it's a bit of a "f*** with your mind" thing ... it was a lot easier to come to grips with his imminent demise last week when he looked awful. Now that he's his old self, it's too easy just to think he's "better". But I know he's not and I'm glad he's enjoying the days he has left. I hope it continues for a while.

Comments:
Great workout - loads of energy. Increases across the board and could probably have done more. That is a great feeling! Had some extra time while the kids were in the pool so through in a few extra sets. Weighed myself today: 176.4. Down a little bit but only modest ... maybe 2 or 3 pounds since the beginning of TNT. I'm OK with that as this isn't about weight loss for me. Onto week 4 - last week of Plan A. Woohoo!

that's a pretty intensive warm-up, Rob. Get a good sweat from that?

Nice improvements on the lat pulldowns.

I'm sure you've got some recomp going on, so a 3-lb loss is still impressive!

Yes, absolutely Ryan - it gets the blood pumping allright. It's a great start to the workout. Funny story ... I overheard this older guy at the gym telling someone else, "Did you see his warmup? It's harder than my workout?"

I forgot to mention some diet challenges this weekend. Went out for dinner with some friends on Saturday ... had a martini before, caesar salad starter (didn't eat the croutons), pistachio-encrusted halibut and asparagus (extra asparagus in lieu of mashed potatoes) and a glass of white wine with the main course. No dessert. Coffee at home. I think that was pretty good all things considered. Then last night, the family converged on my bro's for a Mother's Day get-together. Managed to stick with cheese while the appies were going around .... and one glass of wine. Then everybody decided to order in Chinese. I actually wasn't all that hungry so went pretty light on the food - mostly lettuce wrap and veggies & prawns. I know it was not TNT-appropriate but it was my first really seriously non-compliant meal in 3 weeks, so I guess that's not too bad. Back on track today. Last week of Plan A.

Isn't that the CrossFit motto?

At any rate, it's a nice compliment.

I wouldn't worry about the one noncompliant meal in three weeks, especially if you're losing weight which isn't your goal. I sure wish I could get to the point where I don't want to lose any more...

TNT Advanced Workout C (Week 3) 5/12/08

Warmup:
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Neck Rotations to each side
10 Shoulder circles (backwards)
10 Arm Circles (forwards and backwards)
10 Lunges
10 Static Side Lunges
10 B/W Squats
10 Hip Extensions
10 Lying Straight Leg Raises
10 Side Leg Raises
10 Pushups Plus
10 Thoracic Rotations
10 Fire Hydrant In-Outs
10 Groiners

Weight Workout

Superset 1
Walking Lunge 3X12 @ 40s (+5 EH)
Inverted Row 3X12 @ b/w

Superset 2
Swiss Ball Hip Extension & Leg Curl 3X12
DB Bench Press 3X12 @ 60s (+5EH)

Superset 3
Kneeling Reverse Cable Woodchop 3X12 @ 30 e.s. (+2.5)
Pullup 3X12 @ b/w

Comments: I just want to say that pullups in a final superset really suck. Got 'em done but it wasn't pretty. And a small rant: what makes it reasonable to walk right in front of someone when they're doing walking lunges?? Pretty good workout - was happy with the presses and woodchoppers.
