The gymnastics was really frustrating to me. I hate the new judging scale. It doesn't make any sense to me. I miss the 10pt scale.

About the girls not looking 16--I can see how that would be, but when you look back at the sport, most of the girls don't look 16. I thought that the 20yo Chinese woman this year looked about 16, and the 33yo German looked to be in her 20s. There's been a long tradition in gymnastics to look young. When I was competing (not at an Olympic-level), it was strongly suggested that we maintain the body of a 13yo girl. (BTW, I love the Karolyis! I heard Bella's voice from the other room and had to come running in to watch is interview. BF laughed and wondered how I could understand a word he was saying. It's easy for me to understand him. I translated for BF.)

What I found more upsetting was the American diver that they interviewed who said that she gave up her family and friends to go train. She also pointed out that she didn't go to high school. Now, I'm sure that she had some sort of educational training, but the message she portrayed.

I definitely appreciate the dedication these girls have. And honestly as long as they are happy with what they are doing then that is all that matters. Its not nearly as intense, but my brother has pretty much dedicated his life to hockey. But if you ask him he wouldn't have had it any other way. And like he knew all along his hard work has paid off because now he will be playing in college. He has also had many great life experiences because of it including traveling the country/North America. He has had a pretty normal life though and definitely never trained for 8 hours a day. Maybe 4-6 in juniors.

I had an opportunity to run track in college, but passed on it. I never regret it because I would have never been able to do that, work, and maintain the grades I did in my major. Sometimes though I think it would have been fun to compete after high school. Now I just get to live vicariously through my brother and sister

Count me in the quad-doms club. (hmmm... quadoms is a pretty funny new word for me. I will have to find a good use for it) I did a 52 mile ride one day, a leg workout the next and then the 3rd day did a 52 mile run. Yeeehaw!

Quadoms...luv it. I tend to overuse the word hammies when reffering to my hamstrings. Kind of like today....my hammies are actually pretty sore.

And yeah.....52 miles is a lot! We did about 13. I would loovvvvee to go longer sometime. There is a county park that is 22 miles away, I told my husband we should pack up lunch and bike out there. His response was "And then how do we get back?" Clearly he is not interested in said endeavor

BTW...today looks like it will be another day of 3 hours of work spread over 8 hours. Ah well.

Band name! Time to start a band.

The beauty of mountain biking is that we don't go by mileage because it's too depressing. Instead, I impress myself with length of ride over miles ridden. "2 hour ride" sounds much better than "15 mile ride."

Have you thought about joining a group ride? There's a group of women around here who organize no-drop group rides. It's really fun to ride with a different bunch of people, many of whom probably have the same goals you to re. trying longer distances.

Oh yeah it was a 52 mile ride. But remember that I do this throughout the day. I do 26 to work and then sit back and eat and drink and then do the ride home. This make that very doable. Your hubby could do the same if you sat around for a few hours. He might even like it.

Ok - RIDE I can handle... you originally typed "run" - makes more sense on the bike!

Wasn't feeling so great after work yesterday. Some days my multi-vitamin makes me nauseous. So when I got home I wasn't feeling particularly pumped up for some cardio. But I hopped on my bike and decided to take a new route. It was fun! I ended up having tons of energy and the road I was on was a little hilly so it added an interval effect. Heart rate was high most of the way. I had planned on only 30 minutes but kind of randomed around some trails and went on an adventure and discovered some new trails/routes. So it ended up being close to an hour. My legs felt better. Still not 100%, but they are getting there.

Eats were great yesterday. I really wanted to have some broccoli for dinner last night - isn't that weird? I usually hate vegetables so it was a strange craving for me. But alas, we didn't have any so I had eggs instead.

Will do Workout 4 from Stage 7 tonight after work.

Not much to say about today. Food was on. We made fajitas for dinner and had lots of veggies, chicken and no tortilla. I didn't miss it at all! I measured everything out on my food scale. I am learning more and more what a serving of each food is like each day. Best $30 I have spent in a long time! Well maybe my kick ass dress I wore to a recent wedding that I got tons of compliments on even from strangers. Little did they know how cheap it was. Score!

Today's workout:

Stage 7 Workout 4

I tried to go up in weights in each category. Most are not PR's because of the high reps but they are the highest weight for this many sets and reps so far.

Barbell Squat:
8 x 95
8 x 95 - Most yet! I know I can break 100 next time.

Alternating Sets:

Dumbbell squat w/feet on plates
15 x 20's
15 x 20's
15 x 20's
15 x 20's

Shoulder Press:
15 x 20's
15 x 20's
15 x 20's
15 x 20's - almost didn't make it this last set, phew!

Step up: (I am starting to hate these most)
15 x 15's
15 x 15's
15 x 15's
15 x 15's - almost didn't make it on this one either!

Negative Chin Up (in lieu of lat pulldown)
1 x BW each held as long as I could! First one was best of course
1 x BW
1 x BW
1 x BW

Well going up in weight in each exercise really wore me out. I was pretty tired and sweaty afterwards.

Halp! I am a little nervous for tomorrow. For work we are going to a daytime baseball game and my boss always buys the food and drinks. Lets just say that there are NO good options. Well last time I was there I didn't care about what I ate, so I never really looked. I hate eating a crappy lunch. Just throws my whole day. I think I will eat my usual lunch before we go, but that will have to be at like 10:30. And I will most definitely get ridiculed by my co-workers if I eat beforehand. I think THAT is the worst part about it. How to explain to people who pretty much eat crap (i.e. pizza, Chipotle, Taco Bell, Wendy's) each day for lunch that I don't want to eat hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, brats etc for my lunch. I already get a hard time when I don't eat donuts or other treats people bring in. Too bad my co-workers aren't like all of you

Its a tough balance because I don't want them to act differently around me. People tend to assume you think you are better then them when you eat better then them or turn down donuts and junk like that in front of them. It is not the case at all, but how do you get them to realize that? And how do you get them to understand why I don't want a foot long hot dog, bun and chips meal deal? Why would anyone turn that down, right?

You're right, it is a tough balance. I have enough weight to lose that people don't say anything (as they assume it's diet food). However, the longer I do this the more I realise that I will likely always eat this way. I was always quite lucky with company lunches the last time I was watching what I ate. We had enough different ethnic groups that there would always be veggie burgers for the barbecue and other items if it was fancier. Can you not take something simple with you and just say something like your stomach has been a little iffy so you're watching what you eat. Of course then they may all think you're pregnant.

I hear ya'!!!! It is tough, and people judge. I think many are threatened because of exactly what you said - they think YOU are judging THEM since you don't think what they are eating is "good enough" for you... I don't have a good answer, just that I've been there too. In fact, we're having a work lunch today and I brought some food just in case it's not healthy or on-plan for me - but even working in wellness, I know people will comment if I don't just eat it

The last time we went to a ballgame, I calculated the calories for a hotdog into my plan for the day. Just a hotdog with brown mustard and water to drink was all I had. What's a ballgame without a hotdog?

I like Pauline's idea. But I'd throw a beer in there too! I don't know about other places, but it seems like Coors field has added a lot of other options as well. Some of them not totally un-healthy like a hotdog or nachos. Either way, I'd probably eat lunch before and then maybe have a snack at the park. The office I work in is used to me eating on my own, so they don't judge (I guess that's the beauty of having food allergies).

So how did the ball game go? I can sympathize with the "no good options" thing. Hope you had fun and ate well...
